Neoscream's Painting Table: 18th of August 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. This week I have been mostly drained of energy. On top of feeling tired, I have also been suffering from over the week so far, headaches, sore throat, inflamed glands, constipation, arm pains and a bad allergic reaction. And I am still working a normal shift.

OK, it is time to show off my third display cupboards, so let us start with the bottom shelf.

This shelf holds a ton of my Transformer Comic book small figurines.

The middle shelf holds a ton of my anime and Pokémon figurines.

On the top shelf has a bunch of larger figures and some Lego (fake Lego) figures too.

Next week I will be the fourth cupboard.

Painting

This week I have managed to finish off a tower for my castle terrain, two Tengu Harrier and a Tengu Mage and Surprised hero version from Arcadia Quest.

I am currently painting a Tengu Samurai and a Hedgehog from Stonehaven, Serious hero version from Arcadia Quest.

Gaming

Mansions of Dragoborne

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Mansions of Madness with Bob and Wai-Yin. We retired the second scenario again as the last time myself and Bob did this we failed. Sadly we failed again, but we did get a lot closer. We did manage to get everything we needed, we just ran out of time. Next time we should be more experience to do it, we just have to remember to split up.

Afterwards, myself and Wai-Yin had our first game of Bushiroad's new TCG, Dragoborne. Think of it as Magic the Gathering meets Duel Masters, but with dice as well. After Luck and Logic, I was a bit reluctant of trying another brand new game. However, with the buzz going on I decided to try it out. Wai-Yin was using the Dragon deck which she was borrowing from Anthony, while I was using the Werewolf deck I just bought. Wai-Yin managed to win without any experience with the game. She then ended up buying two copies of the Vampire deck. Stereotypical for that Chibi Vampire to buy a Vampire deck. LOL. I am planning on building a blue deck as Blue is heavy technology, ninjas and Samurai themed. However, I also want to do Green/Yellow(or is it classed a white), for the Elves. Oh and afterward I found that we were playing Dragon Shields wrong. This was due to the game I watched two Saturdays ago, Liam was playing them wrong. The basic problem was that we did not know the Dragon Shields could only go to Forts of the same colour and what gives a Fort its colour is the banner behind it. Looking at the rules, it was an easy mistake to make. I only realised when I was watching an official How to Play videos on YouTube.

Card Games

On Tuesday I went down to Toby Carvery for some card gaming with Shell, Liam, Gareth, the House Brothers, John, Blake (briefly) and Brandon. I first got a game of Cardfight Vanguard against John (if memory serves me right). I using my Chouchou Bermuda Triangle deck. I was destroyed before ever of use hit GB1. This was mainly due to only getting a single trigger all game, and that was a heal trigger from a draw. After that, I got two games of Dragoborne against Liam, after letting him know about the Fort/Dragon Shield problem. He won the first game, but I managed to win the second. After that, I managed to get some trades in to improve my Stride deck for my Chouchou Bermuda Triangle deck and then tested the improvements against Brandon. I managed to win this one with my first ever stride with "Chouchou Headliner, Lapria". Over all, it was a very enjoyable night.

HeroClix

Sadly on Thursday, there was not Heroclix as I was not feeling well. This means that the build has been moved to next week. The build was 900 points, five Actions, no figure above 250 points, no ATA's and no bases larger than peanut sized.

Future Games
  • On Saturday the 19th of August, there will be a Future Card Buddyfight and Dragoborne Tournament happening at Wargames Workshop MK.
  • On Monday the 21st of August I will be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Kingdom Death Monster.
  • On Thursday the 24th of August, I should be going to York House for some games of HeroClix.
  • On Saturday the 26th of August, there will be a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament happening at Wargames Workshop MK.
  • On Monday the 28th of August, I should be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game. I just remembered that it is a Bank Holiday so I will not be going as gaming will be happening in the daytime and not the evening/night.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Painting Table: 6th of August 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. As the back log of painting is finally done. I want to move on to something else. I have decided to show off a part of my on display collections/work space each week. Let us start with the first of the four display cupboards above my bad, the one on the left. This cupboard contains most of my large gaming miniatures and some small special ones. Let us start with the bottom shelf.

This shelf holds my large Kingdom Death Monster figures. Lion King, Sunstalker (at this point in time it is not there as it is waiting to be under coated) and Phoenix. Both the Gorm and the Lonely Tree did live in here until it was painted. Now it is boxed up to travel with the game. I normally keep the Gorm, the White Lion and the Screaming Antelope in the core box as these were the most commonly hunted figures and as the Lonely Tree is/can be used as two bits of terrain, it is useful to carry around too.

The second shelf has the rest of my KDM Monsters that are not in the core box, or on the bottom shelf. The only exception is the Spidicules (due to size) and the Forsaker (as I forgot to put him back after doing the back log photos).

The third shelf has a bunch of smaller random figures. A couple of characters and a banner from my old Warhammer Fantasy Chaos army (the only things I kept), the Ninja KDM figure (as the umbrella is too delicate and big to transport with the other survivors), my Neoscream mascots figure, a Battletech Axeman figure (bought as a reminder of the Battletech cartoon), Knight Miniatures Iron Man, a figure I made based on Lily Rain Eve from CosmicBreak, two large Arcadia Quest figure, and a Demi-Gods.

On the top shelf was my Inquisitor stuff (well most) and the Poison Dragon from Arcadia Quest.

Next week I will be the middle cupboard.

Painting

This week I have managed to finish off: I am currently painting Trista from Reaper Miniatures Bones; Scooper from Sphere Wars; and Tinkerbell from Tale Of War Miniatures.

Sadly it was not much this week. However, I have been building Darleks and Cybermen for Doctor Who Exterminate, which I will be playing against Bob next week. I am currently painting Astrid from Reaper Miniatures Bones; the 2015 Salute figure; Peter Pan from Tale Of War Miniatures; Sephera (cannot remember where she is from); and four Monster Fruit.

Gaming

Kingdom Death Monster WWMK

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Kingdom Death Monster. Adrian, Michael, and Bob turned up. There was no Wai-Yin, but she gave a reason why. We went up against a level two Gorm. This was the first time we went up against a level two monster in this campaign. Seeing the traits of the monster, the group began thinking it was a was a bad move. However, we did take it down in two turns. We did suffer some injuries, but they were mainly due to events than attacks.

The Settlement event was Glossolalia, where we got a good result due to a life time reroll. The Story event was Principle of Society, where we picked Barbaric and luckily we did not get the result that meant that we would have lost all our resources. Our innovation this time was Beds. We also build two more Leather Shields and a Weapon Smith.

HeroClix

On Thursday I went down to York House for some games of HeroClix. This week's we continued the 'Teenage Kicks' scenario. 400 points. It is time to find the most Kickass Teenage Supergroup. Six teams enter the arena in a battle to find the ultimate champions. All players will play each team at least once. Darren S supplied the teams and the teams are Runaways, Young Avengers, New Mutants, Teen Titans, Ravagers and Initiative. The image next to this is of the team lists.

On the first game of the day, I was up against Michael. We were using the remain two teams needed to use, him as Teen Titans versus me as Runaways. I managed to win this one. Also, Darren won his game against Adrian in their friendly.

Darren decided to do a top four playoff of the top teams. Young Avengers, Runaways, New Mutants and Teen Titans. On the semi-finals, I was up against Darren. I ended up with the New Mutants team while Darren ended up being the Young Avengers team. Like normal against Darren and the Young Avengers, I lost. Meaning the Young Avengers move on to the finals and New Mutants will be in the third place playoffs. Also, Michael won his game against his brother Adrian.

On the final game of the play, I was up against Adrian. We were using the teams to determine who will be in fourth place. I was using the Runaways while Adrian was using the New Mutants. I managed to win this one. Also in the finals, Darren who was using Teen Titans won his game against Michael who was using Young Avenger.

So due to the top four playoff, Young Avengers lost their throne to Teen Titans who were third in the campaign before the top four playoff.

Simon's

On Friday evening, I went down to Simon's with Darren H. As there was no Richard, we did not play KDM. Instead, we mainly chatted and played four rounds of Exploding Kittens. Three with the NSFW deck and one with the standard deck. If memory services me right, Darren won two games (first and last) and both myself and Simon won one game each.

Card Gaming

On Saturday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a Future Card Buddy tournament. However, we did not have enough players by starting time. So it ended up being casual Bushiroad card game. I traded for so extra cards for my Chouchou deck, an X-tiger (finally) and another Hero World deck for Buddyfight. I got a ton of Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight games with Crawford and Matt, as well as watching a game of Bushiroad's new card game, Dragoborne. It was an enjoyable day, apart from the long bus journeys home.

Future Games
  • On Monday the 7th of August I will be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Doctor Who Exterminate.
  • On Thursday the 10th of August, I should be going to York House for some games of HeroClix.
  • On Saturday the 12th of August, there will be a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament happening at Wargames Workshop MK. However, sadly I will not be going to it as I will be helping my mate Simon move back to Milton Keynes.
  • On Monday the 14th of August, I should be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Painting Table: 29th of July 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. Ok, not much to talk about in life so here is a bit of personal Warhammer 40,000 news.

Last weekend, a new FAQ for 8th edition Warhammer 40k was released. In it, they have finally made T'au Shield Drones useful again as they now have a 5+ save against wounds. Hippy, I can use them again.

For those who are interested here is a list of all the T'au stuff I currently own.

  • One Ethereal. (An old conversion using Games Workshop bit).
  • Two Commanders.
  • One Cadre Fireblade (not official miniature) which could be pushed to two if I use the nude sniper.
  • Commander Shadowsun (not official miniature) with no Command drone.
  • Four nine man Strike Teams. I just need a couple of extra figures to make it ten man teams.
  • Two fifteen man Kroot Carnivores teams.
  • Six Kroot Hounds.
  • Two Kroot Shaper.
  • Two three man XV25 Stealth Battlesuit teams with one figure extra.
  • Three three man XV8 Crisis Battlesuit teams with one figure extra. Can be used as XV8 Crisis Bodyguards.
  • An XV104 Riptide Battlesuit.
  • Two MV84 Shielded Missile Drones.
  • Two eight man Pathfinder Teams. Might be able to push to three six man team.
  • An MV31 Pulse Accelerator Drone.
  • An MV33 Grav-inhibitor Drone.
  • Two MB3 Recon Drones.
  • A TY7 Devilfish.
  • Twelve MV1 Gun Drones.
  • Seven MV4 Shield Drones.
  • An MV7 Marker Drones.
  • An XV88 Broadside Battlesuit.
  • Something like five Big Gun Drones which are useless without the Forge World Xenos Index.
I do plan on building another Ethereal based on an idea I have thanks to Gundam Seed and all of Macross. A pop princess. Nothing to with the new deck I have for Cardfight Vanguard. The basic idea is to find a female singer figure with a long skirt that covers the feet so I do not need to replace the feet and has a fringe that covers the forehead (but I could always green stuff a fringe).

Painting

This week I have managed to finish off: A Sorcerer's Cabinet with a Book (ok these were meant to be in last week’s post, but I forgot to put them in the photo), a Bookcase, the Cleric Hero, Blaine and the spar Necromancer from Dungeon Saga; Three Ruins from Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings (however, as it is a second copy of the ones I did last week painted in the same way, I will not be doing photos of these); a female Storm Giant (painted to be a Frost Giant for Frostgrave) from Reaper Miniatures Bones; rebasing and updating of my Commander Heavyarms for my T'au army; and Chaser from Wargame Exclusive which will be used as a Cadre Fireblade for my T'au army.

Dungeon Saga (oops the bookcase was upside down)

T'au

Frost Giant

I forgot to state last week that I had removed to Shield Generator from Commander Wing Zero and added a magnet to the arm. This will allow me to add an extra weapon to Wing Zero based on what I need. I have also done the to the right thruster of Commander Heavyarms too.

I have also been working on (not painting) some T'au stuff I bought from eBay like a Riptide Battlesuit. I am currently painting Trista and Astrid from Reaper Miniatures Bones; Scooper from Sphere Wars; the 2015 Salute figure; and Tinkerbell from Tale Of War Miniatures.

For the backlog, I have for you all two Warmachine figures. These are the Trenchers Officer and Sniper for Cygnar. I have converted the Sniper to be a blue haired female Sniper. My standard for most snipers.

Well, that is finally it for the backlog. All officially done now.

Gaming

Cardfight Vanguard Tournament

On Saturday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament. There was sixteen of us. Some new faces and some returning. I had brought the new Bermuda Triangle Chouchou deck and a couple of boosters of the new Bermuda Triangle set. I was treated to try out the new deck, but I decided to use the deck I was first thinking of using. Exxtreme Battler Nova Grapplers.

On the first round, I was up against Nana who was also using an Exxtreme Battler Nova Grappler deck. It was a close game, but I managed to win.

On the second round, I was up against Pete who was using a Shadow Paladin. Sadly I lost this round.

We stopped for lunch and I managed to get a game of Future Card Buddyfight with Bredon. I was using my Quartet Five Hero World deck while Bredon was using a Chaos Dragon World deck. I sadly lost the game. We did try to do a second game. However, we ran out of time. Sadly it looked like I was winning.

On the third round, I was up against Wai-Yin who was using our beloved Touken Ranby. Damn it, I wanted to use my Blaster Royal Paladin deck against her. She managed to win this round. After the game, we chatted and managed to fix things between us. So we are friends again. She is just VERY BAD at communication and has some major problems.

On the four and the final round, before the top eight playoffs, I was up against Sadie who was using Dark Irregulars. I managed to win this game.

Sadly I did not make it to the top eight playoffs. However, this was due to the strength of schedule. Pete ended up winning the tournament. Maybe due to no Shell as she was away.

During the top eight playoffs. I teamed up with Wai-Yin in a duos match against Jordan and Alex. I was using my new Bermuda Triangle deck (borrowing some Bermuda Triangle Strides from Jordan), Wai-Yin was using an upgraded Pale Moon deck, Alex was using a Granblue deck and Jordan was using a Tachikaze deck. We managed to win against them. I still need to get used to how the deck works more and improve it beyond the Trail Deck. Sadly that means dropping the Cute stand trigger "Chouchou, Namig". WTF! One of my decks without stand triggers.

Malifaux

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Malifaux. I was playing against the local main man for Malifaux (who is a Henchman for Wyrd Games), David Brown. He was trying out a new crew (for him) lead by Brewmaster. We decided to use the Gaining Grounds 2017 Schemes and Strategies deck. The strategy was "Guard the Stash" and the Schemes I picked were "Eliminate The Leadership" and "Frame For Murder". I might have the wrong name for the second Scheme as I do not own the card and could only find a list of names with very little rules without buying and downloading the cards, which I might do next week. I decided to go with Misaki. For those who do not know, I am a Ten Thunders player. My team ended up being:

Misaki with Stalking Bisento and Recalled Training
Shang
Ototo with Call of Thunder and Recalled Training
Samurai with Favour of Jigoku
Katanaka Sniper
Oiran
Two Torakage

It was a good and somewhat close game. However, David won with ten victory points to my seven. There was a funny moment when David took control of Ototo for an action and had him kill my Oiran which I stupidly had too far in the face that she was the target of "Frame For Murder". It was a good fun game. I can not wait for Simon to move back to Milton Keynes and join in with Malifaux and other games.

Last week I played as Young Avengers, Ravagers and Teen Titans, so that leaves the other three teams for this week.

On the first round, I was up against Adrian. I ended up with the New Mutants team while Adrian ended up being the Young Avengers team. Sadly I lost, but I did give the young Avengers a run for their money. Also, Darren won his game against Michael.

On the second round, I was up against Michael. I ended up with the New Mutants team while Michael ended up being the Teen Titans team. Due to the problem of randomising teams, I had to use a team I have already used. Due to this, this round was a friendly game. I managed to win this round despite rolling four critical misses. Also, Adrian won his game against Darren (by cheating).

On the third and final round, I was up against Darren. I ended up with the Initiative team while Darren ended up being the Runaways team. Like normal against Darren I lost. Also, Adrian won his game against his brother Michael.

As I still need to play Runaways and Michael still needs to use Teen Titans (officially), this will be continuing next week. Or at least for the first round. However, we do have an overall winner and an overall loser already in teams as well as an overall winner player. Young Avengers is the best team, Ravagers are the worst team and Darren is the best player (as always).

Future Games
  • On Monday the 31st of July, I will be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Kingdom Death Monster.
  • On Thursday the 3rd of August, I should be going to York House for some games of HeroClix.
  • On Saturday the 5th of August, I should be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a Future Card Buddyfight Tournament.

Neoscream's Painting Table: 13th June 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. The last couple of days I have been looking after my parents after their operations. Apart from my dad's operation being delayed by a day (which meant he was in overnight), everything has gone well. Sadly my dad is in a lot of pain, but that might because he is not used to being sick and weak.

I managed to sort out my drawer in my shed again. Tring to make room and organising them more as well as looking for figures I forgot about. I also did a ton of repair work on my Kingdon Death Monster Survivours as the foam trays turned out to be a BAD move as the glue was CRAP which causes the figures to brake MORE. Because of this, I have transferred the Survivours to the old plastic case a from Poundland.

Painting

This week I have managed to finish off both versions of Audrey, an A-Bomb Abomination and five Skinner Zombies Walkers all from Zombicide as well as four Treasure Chests, two Zombie Trolls and the four starting Heroes from Dungeon Saga.

Zombicide

Dungeon Saga

As I post this I realised I forgot to do the crystal on the Wizard's staff. I will sort that out and retake pictures of him in next week's post. I have also found I had made a mistake on my new painting system which meant that Zombicide stuff was MUCH higher on in the priority than it should have been. This means that the rest of the first wave of Skinners will be done at a much later date. Also, I found out why my Dungeon Saga set was so cheap. It came with two Necromancers and no undead Dwarf King. Beep. I have dug out a random Dwarf to use as the King for now (see him in the photo below) and I will keep an eye out for a much better figure in the future.

I am currently painting up the remaining villain characters and a table from Dungeon Saga.

This week's backlog, I have for you all some Kingdom Death Monster figures. There is Before the Wall, Adam, Anna, Paul, Snow, Twilight Knight, Aya and male Intimacy character.

Next week will be the last of the backlog and I will have for you all some more Kingdom Death Monster minutes and a couple of Warmachine miniatures too.

Gaming

Cardfight Vanguard and Future Card Buddyfight Causal Play

Due to a Magic the Gathering release, Cardfight Vanguard was pushed to Sunday. However, Shell did try to set up a Vanguard/Buddyfight tournament at the Toby Carvery at Shenley Church End for those who cannot make Sunday's tournament. The reason why I did not change my day off. Shell is the one who runs the who runs the Vanguard, Buddyfight and Force of Will tournaments and casual play at Wargames Workshop and is a part-time employee of the store. Sadly on Friday she that she had to work on Saturday. More to cover breaks and to cover staff setting up the Magic tournament. So it was changed from a Tournament to just casual play sadly. There was a go turn out, at least eleven of us by the time Shell turned up, which was around 3:30/4 PM.

I managed to trade for the GB8 Nova Grappler Stride and a second copy of the new Dimension Police G-Guardian.

I got a bunch of games with my updated Nova Grappler deck, even got to use a GB8 for the first time. I also got several games of Buddyfight in too. I really need to change my buddy from Red Ranger to Gold Ranger (OK that is not the card names).

Overall it was an enjoyable afternoon of card gaming.

Warhammer 40,000

Commander Wing Zero
I do plan on doing some major work to his as well as rebasing him to the
current 60mm base size for commanders instead of the 40mm base from
2nd edition.
On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK like normal, but this time I was playing my second game of Warhammer 40k eighth edition. It was another 1,000 point game, but this time I was up against Bob. I had made several to the line-up which was:

  • Wing Zero - Commander (76) with 2 Plasma Rifles (11x2), Shield Generator (8) and Advanced Targeting System (8) = 114
  • Heavyarms - Commander (76) with 2 Burst Cannons (10x2), Missile Pods (24x2) and Marker Drone (10) = 154
  • Cadre Fireblade = 42
  • 6 Tau Strike Team (8x6). Shas’ui with Markerlight (3) = 51
  • 6 Tau Strike Team (8x6). Shas’ui with Markerlight (3) = 51
  • 6 Tau Strike Team (8x6). Shas’ui with Markerlight (3) = 51
  • 5 Tau Strike Team (8x5). Shas’ui with Markerlight (3) = 43
  • 10 Pathfinders ((5+3)x10). Shas’ui with Pistol. One with Rail Rifle (22-3). Two with Ion Rifle ((7-3)x2). Plus, a Recon Drone (12), Pulse Accelerator (8) and Grav-inhibitor (8) = 135
  • 4 Crisis Battlesuits (42x4). One with 2 Fusion Blasters (21x2) and Drone Controller (5). Two with 2 Fusion Blasters (21x2) and Multi-Tracker (2). One with 2 Plasma Rifles (11x2) and Multi-Tracker (2). Plus 4 Gun Drones (8x4) = 359
=1,000

I decided to drop the Shield Drones as they were not as good as I remember. I added a Cadre Fireblade to boost the number of shots from Pulse weapons. I changed the Crisis Bodyguards to Crisis Battlesuits and swapped out their Advanced Targeting Systems for Multi-Tracker. I also upped the number of Pathfinders to ten with a second Ion Rifle. Please also notes, like before, the Striker units were armed with a mix of Pulse Rifles and Pulse Cabins based on what the figures have on them.

Bob decided to use his Necrons as he was using his Space Marine in his previous game. We played the "Secure and Control" scenario with the "Search and Destroy" deployment. It turned into my Strike Teams and Pathfinders lead by the Cadre Fireblade versus Bob's Scarabs, and my Crisis Battlesuits and Commanders versus the rest of Bob's army. The game ended on the sixth turn and I were left with two Fire Warriors (members of a Strike Team) left while Bob only had lost over half of his Scarabs and a couple of Warriors as everything resurrected.

I still need to work on my force and I have done a couple of adjustments based on stuff on YouTube. One change is to drop the special weapon on the Pathfinders and split them into two teams, as well as drop the number of Strike Teams, but up the number in each team. I have also picked up the rulebook (which you can see in the opening image) as it is back in stock and so I have access to advance rules and scenarios (as the core rules are free).

HeroClix

I could not make HeroClix on Thursday (today) as I was looking after my parents. Darren S decided to run a special scenario that will run for several weeks. Heroclix 'Teenage Kicks'. 400 points. It is time to find the most Kickass Teenage Supergroup. Six teams enter the arena in a battle to find the ultimate champions. All players will play each team at least once. Darren S supply the teams and the teams are Runaways, Young Avengers, New Mutants, Teen Titans, Ravagers and Initiative.

Future Games
  • On Friday the 14th of July, I will be going to Simon's for a game of Kingdom Death Monster.
  • On Monday the 17th of July, I will be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Kingdom Death Monster.
  • On Thursday the 20th of July, I should be going to York House for some games of HeroClix.
  • On Saturday the 22nd of July, I should be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament.
  • On Monday the 24th of July, I should be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.
