Gaming with Neoscream: 3rd January 2014

Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”. Happy 2014 everybody. This is my weekly gaming post for miniature games, non-computer RPGs and some card games.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. There is currently a Boxing Day sale happening in their web store with Kings of War and Warpath stuff.

Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of: Dawnstar, Wildfire and Starmn from DC Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes; and Alligator’s Sword, Castle of Dark Illusions, the spell Change of Hearts and the trap Trap Hole from Yu-Gi-Oh Series One.
The winners of round two were: Catman; Etrigan the Demon; and Killer Moth. The winner of will be revealed later today.

Now for the Zombicide news. If you have not read my "Neoscream's Life: Christmas Week 2013" I now have all three main box sets now. Now all is left is to get the dogs and some extra zombies.

Next is the Elven Adventurers Box Set KickStarter news. The green for the Troll Rock Chucker has been revealed.

Now for the Crooked Dice Games news. Oddly the main site is down for some unknown reason for most of the week. I have learnt this year's theme for Salute, unless Crooked Dice released some soldiers they will not be in theme this year. The theme is the D-Day Landings.

Next is the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. They now have a bunch of prototypes in and they will be posting images of them every couple of days for the next week or two. So for they have done the Glaug-Eldare.

The Glaug-Eldare along with the early prototype/demo
Regult and Valkyrie Battloid, plus the convention exclusive
Max Sterling's Valkyrie Battloid.
Now for the Mekton news. There are still waiting for the cover and a bunch of the overall interior art, but everything else is done. In fact due to the wait more is being added to the game. An example of this is that each faction has a Lifepath now than just one generic path.

Lastly there is the Battle Systems Sci-fi Modular Terrain news. They have posted up their survey now. Backers have until the end of the month to fill it in or to do any changes.

Past Events

On Monday there was another holidays board games night at Wargames Workshop MK. Only got one game of Zombicide in and sadly we lost due to running out of zombies. It was mission 002 Finding the Keys from Prison Outbreak.

On Thursday there was HeroClix at York House. Yes I forgot to post it up on the events. It was Rookie Rumble. 400 points, Rookies only, no figure over 100 points. Sadly Adrian and Michael could not make it, so it was just me and Darren S. We each brought four teams and randomly determine which team faces each other. The first game was my Armour team that sadly was not themed verses Darren’s Marvel Knights team. Darren won. The second game was my crappy Defenders team version Darren’s Avengers team. Again I lost, but the team was crap in the first place. The third round was my X-Men verses Darren’s Justice League. Darren won, but the X-men did much better this game than the others before it. On the final game it was my Avengers team verses Darren’s X-Men. The Avengers just managed to win the game due to Darren’s bad dice rolls. There were a couple of team build errors. The major one that both of us did was Colossus. He is (unless it has been changes) an experience figure, however HCRealms where both of us build our teams listed him as a Rookie. Also one of Darren’s teams was a point over club rules. This is due to him picking up the wrong figure as he was meant to pick up the 45 point version instead of the 55 point one. You can see the team builds in the Armies section. The next HeroClix game should be in February as my course ends by then.

York House has a £3 on the day gaming fee and a £5 fee for a year’s membership. However the first day is free and they only take yearly membership fee at the start of the year. The Hall officially opens at 7PM, but normally people start arrived 15 to 20 minutes early.

Wargames Workshop MK has a £2 gaming fee or £4 with a pack of Magic the Gathering cards unless it is a paid tournament run by Guardians of Tyr. Weekday events normally start “playing” at 7PM. There are plays for Bolt Action tournaments as well, however there are no dates at the moment.

For rules for Guardians of Tyr tournaments and leagues as well as information on pre paying your place in tournament (highly recommended) please go to their website which there is a link to their site under my links to the right hand side of this blog.

Painting and Converting

Opps. I made a major mistake in last week’s photos. I added the female Warrior of the Sun, forgetting it was this week’s not last week. Never mind it just means the week’s in a little smaller. This week I have done doing two more Accretion Servitor, a Steelsoul Protector and two Warjack Wreck Tokens (one 40mm and one 50mm).

This week's figures rear view

Next week should be doing at least two more Terradon players, a Prone Robot player and the MVP Painkiller and an alternate sculpt for Rakshata.

Until next time, Keep Rolling. Yes that is right, "Keep Rolling" is the 2014 closer for the blog. It is both a Transformers and gaming reference. Well it could have been "Keep Slapping". Only eleven more posts until post 1,000.
