Labels A to Z, Part 10

I review this Game a while a go
Reviews - NSL - A review is an evaluation of a publication, such as a movie, video game, musical composition, book; a piece of hardware like a car, home appliance, or computer; or an event or performance, such as a live music concert,a play, musical theater show or dance show. In addition to a critical evaluation, the review's author may assign the work a rating to indicate its relative merit. More loosely, an author may review current events, trends, or items in the news. A compilation of reviews may itself be called a review. The New York Review of Books, for instance, is a collection of essays on literature, culture, and current affairs. National Review, founded by William F. Buckley, Jr., is an influential conservative magazine, and Monthly Review is a long-running socialist periodical. I use this label when I review thing or talking about Heroclix news.

Rules - MSW - Whereas games are often characterized by their tools, they are often defined by their rules. While rules are subject to variations and changes, enough change in the rules usually results in a "new" game. For instance, baseball can be played with "real" baseballs or with wiffleballs. However, if the players decide to play with only three bases, they are arguably playing a different game. There are exceptions to this in that some games deliberately involve the changing of their own rules, but even then there are often immutable meta-rules.
Rules generally determine turn order, the rights and responsibilities of the players, and each player’s goals. Player rights may include when they may spend resources or move tokens. Common win conditions are being first to amass a certain quota of points or tokens (as in Settlers of Catan), having the greatest number of tokens at the end of the game (as in Monopoly), or some relationship of one’s game tokens to those of one’s opponent (as in chess's checkmate). I use this label when talking about the rules of MS Wars on my MS Wars Blog.

Sports - NSL - A sport is an organized, competitive, entertaining, and skillful physical activity requiring commitment, strategy, and fair play, in which a winner can be defined by objective means. It is governed by a set of rules or customs. In sports the key factors are the physical capabilities and skills of the competitor when determining the outcome (winning or losing). The physical activity involves the movement of people, animals and/or a variety of objects such as balls and machines or equipment. In contrast, games such as card games and board games, though these could be called mind sports and some are recognized as Olympic sports, require primarily mental skills and only mental physical involvement. Non-competitive activities, for example as jogging or playing catch, are usually classified as forms of recreation. Physical events such as scoring goals or crossing a line first often define the result of a sport. However, the degree of skill and performance in some sports such as diving, dressage and figure skating is judged according to well-defined criteria. This is in contrast with other judged activities such as beauty pageants and body building, where skill does not have to be shown and the criteria are not as well defined. Records are kept and updated for most sports at the highest levels, while failures and accomplishments are widely announced in sport news. Sports are most often played just for fun or for the simple fact that people need exercise to stay in good physical condition. However, professional sport is a major source of entertainment. While practices may vary, sports participants are expected to display good sportsmanship, and observe standards of conduct such as being respectful of opponents and officials, and congratulating the winner when losing. I use this label when I watch or talk about any sports which is a rarity or talking about Wii Sports.

Story/Stories - NSL / MSW - A narrative, either true or fictitious, in prose or verse, designed to interest, amuse, or instruct the hearer or reader. I use this label when talking about stories I have wrote or (may be coming soon) posting them of this blog or when when I talking about or post the background story of MS Wars in my MS Wars blog.

SuzySmartz - NSL - From the about me part of her MFC profile:
My name is SuzySmartz and I'm the Shit.
I write bars hotter than the fire you just lit,
Up under my ass because you wanna see my tits,
But you ain't seeing any of this bitch.
I flow like water down a fall,
In the Secoya Mountains on a winter night's call.
I'll take you out like a Ninja's machete,
Make you scream my name as if it was your teddy
At five years old is the innocence you'll see,
when you watch my show, wishing you was me.
She's the baddest bitch on MFC,
What's her name? Smartz, Suzy!
She is a the founder, leader and pimp of the Smartz Revolution. If you do not know what the Smartz Revolution is by now, please read the other labels or visit her blog which is listed on the Blogs I Follow section to the right hand side of my blog.

The next Labels A to Z post will be Technology, Terrain, Test Gaming, Transformers and Turn Structure. Until next time, enjoy.
