Neoscream's Painting Table: 18th of August 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. This week I have been mostly drained of energy. On top of feeling tired, I have also been suffering from over the week so far, headaches, sore throat, inflamed glands, constipation, arm pains and a bad allergic reaction. And I am still working a normal shift.

OK, it is time to show off my third display cupboards, so let us start with the bottom shelf.

This shelf holds a ton of my Transformer Comic book small figurines.

The middle shelf holds a ton of my anime and Pokémon figurines.

On the top shelf has a bunch of larger figures and some Lego (fake Lego) figures too.

Next week I will be the fourth cupboard.

Painting

This week I have managed to finish off a tower for my castle terrain, two Tengu Harrier and a Tengu Mage and Surprised hero version from Arcadia Quest.

I am currently painting a Tengu Samurai and a Hedgehog from Stonehaven, Serious hero version from Arcadia Quest.

Gaming

Mansions of Dragoborne

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Mansions of Madness with Bob and Wai-Yin. We retired the second scenario again as the last time myself and Bob did this we failed. Sadly we failed again, but we did get a lot closer. We did manage to get everything we needed, we just ran out of time. Next time we should be more experience to do it, we just have to remember to split up.

Afterwards, myself and Wai-Yin had our first game of Bushiroad's new TCG, Dragoborne. Think of it as Magic the Gathering meets Duel Masters, but with dice as well. After Luck and Logic, I was a bit reluctant of trying another brand new game. However, with the buzz going on I decided to try it out. Wai-Yin was using the Dragon deck which she was borrowing from Anthony, while I was using the Werewolf deck I just bought. Wai-Yin managed to win without any experience with the game. She then ended up buying two copies of the Vampire deck. Stereotypical for that Chibi Vampire to buy a Vampire deck. LOL. I am planning on building a blue deck as Blue is heavy technology, ninjas and Samurai themed. However, I also want to do Green/Yellow(or is it classed a white), for the Elves. Oh and afterward I found that we were playing Dragon Shields wrong. This was due to the game I watched two Saturdays ago, Liam was playing them wrong. The basic problem was that we did not know the Dragon Shields could only go to Forts of the same colour and what gives a Fort its colour is the banner behind it. Looking at the rules, it was an easy mistake to make. I only realised when I was watching an official How to Play videos on YouTube.

Card Games

On Tuesday I went down to Toby Carvery for some card gaming with Shell, Liam, Gareth, the House Brothers, John, Blake (briefly) and Brandon. I first got a game of Cardfight Vanguard against John (if memory serves me right). I using my Chouchou Bermuda Triangle deck. I was destroyed before ever of use hit GB1. This was mainly due to only getting a single trigger all game, and that was a heal trigger from a draw. After that, I got two games of Dragoborne against Liam, after letting him know about the Fort/Dragon Shield problem. He won the first game, but I managed to win the second. After that, I managed to get some trades in to improve my Stride deck for my Chouchou Bermuda Triangle deck and then tested the improvements against Brandon. I managed to win this one with my first ever stride with "Chouchou Headliner, Lapria". Over all, it was a very enjoyable night.

HeroClix

Sadly on Thursday, there was not Heroclix as I was not feeling well. This means that the build has been moved to next week. The build was 900 points, five Actions, no figure above 250 points, no ATA's and no bases larger than peanut sized.

Future Games
  • On Saturday the 19th of August, there will be a Future Card Buddyfight and Dragoborne Tournament happening at Wargames Workshop MK.
  • On Monday the 21st of August I will be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Kingdom Death Monster.
  • On Thursday the 24th of August, I should be going to York House for some games of HeroClix.
  • On Saturday the 26th of August, there will be a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament happening at Wargames Workshop MK.
  • On Monday the 28th of August, I should be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game. I just remembered that it is a Bank Holiday so I will not be going as gaming will be happening in the daytime and not the evening/night.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Painting Table: 9th June 2017

Hi everyone and to welcome to another one of my blog posts. Not much happened outside gaming and work (audit chaos) this week. Sorry.

Painting

With my painting this week, I have managed to finish painting the Gorm and the Lonely Lady for Kingdom Death Monster and the Steelsoul Kag Protector for Convergence from Warmachine this week. I have also built one of my Cybermen for Doctor Who Exterminate. There are no pictures of the Cyberman as I put it away in the game after building it.

And here are the five figures I am currently working on. These are currently the Lonely Tree from Kingdom Death Monster, three MEC from XCOM and a Tau Drone from Warhammer 40,000. However, this lineup will change when I finally build my Tau Pathfinders (the Tau female conversion parts I ordered have finally just arrived today).

I have also finally got the first of my backlog waves done. In these photos, I have a figure I briefly used as a Templar in Frostgrave and then I have four Zombies, two Armoured Zombies, two Dwarf Revenants and two Ghosts.

Gaming

Frostgrave

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for the next game of the second Frostgrave campaign at the store. Since the last game (last month), I have hired a Ranger and a Treasure Hunter (which you saw the painted figures of them last week) and fired a Thief and Warhound to free up room for them. We were playing "The Silver Tower" scenario from the core rulebook. Bob was the one who managed to climb up the tower to gain the special treasure. I managed to gain to gain two treasures and my Wizard went up two levels, but she was Badly Wounded which cost me all the gold I earned. Oh, and my Captain went up a level too.

It looks like we will be skipping next month as most of the other players are busy with holidays.

Casual Card Gaming

On Wednesday I went down to the Toby Carvery for some casual carding. I got in three games of Cardfight Vanguard and two games of Future Card Buddyfight.

HeroClix

On Thursday, I went down to York House (top stairs instead of downstairs due to the Elections) for some games of HeroClix. We were playing a special Election day scenario that I helped make. 500 points, three actions, no figure above 250 points, no ATAs. You may elect one of your figures with the Politician keyword. At the start of each game roll 1D6 and this character rolled position for the game:

  1. Chief Whip - Can use Perplex. If they already have Perplex, they can use it twice.
  2. Defense Ministry - Can choose between Energy Shield Deflection or Close Combat Reflexes once per game.
  3. Home Secretary - Once per turn, if closer to its own starting area, it gains +1 Defense, Attack or Movement until the start of their next turn.
  4. Foreign Secretary - Once per turn, if closer to the opponent's starting zone, it gains +1 Defense, Attack or Movement until the start of their next turn.
  5. Health Secretary - Can use Regeneration and Support.
  6. Prime Minister - Can use leadership. If they already have leadership, roll two dice and chooses the highest.
I ended up using an Avengers team lead by Nick Fury who was:

Nick Fury (035 Marvel Avengers Movies) 70
Justice (015 Marvel Avengers Assemble) 64
Scarlet Witch (006 Marvel Chaos War Fast Forces) 75
Yellowjacket (010 Marvel Civil War event) 60
Black Panther (007 Marvel Avengers vs Defenders) 30
Iron Man (010 Marvel Avengers vs Defenders) 55
Luke Cage (002 Marvel Marvel Knights) 75
Iron Fist (003 Marvel Marvel Knights) 75
=504 points.

On the first round, I was up against Michael who was using a Dark Avengers themed team. At first in looked like Michael was winning. However, thing changed and I managed to pull out a win. Also, Darren S who their game against Adrian.

On the second round, I was up against Darren S who was using a Maggia themed team. Due to Darren's bad dice rolls, it felt closed. However, Darren (like normal) managed to win the game. Sorry I can not remember who won between the brothers, Adrain and Michael.

On the third and final round, I was up against Adrian who was meant to be using a Hand themed team. However, he forgot a 75 point figure (his Politician), so he had top borrow a figure that was not Hand. Anyway, it was a close game. However, Adrian's jammy luck with his Super Senses rolls saved him big time and helped him to the win the game. Also, Darren S who their game against Michael.

Future Games

  • Saturday the 10th of June, was meant to be a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament at Wargames Workshop MK. However, because of Cardfight Vanguard Nationals, it was canceled as a Tournament. But there will be a table or two for casual games.
  • On Monday the 12th of June, I will be playing Kingdom Death Monster at Wargames Workshop MK.
  • On Thursday the 15th of June, I should be going to York House for HeroClix.
  • On Sunday the 18th of June, I should be going to the Future Card Buddyfight Nationals.
  • On Monday the 19th of June, I should be gaming at Wargames Workshop MK. What I will be playing I do not know yet. Maybe Kingdom Death Monster.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Painting Table - Dreadball January 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another "Neoscream's Painting Table". This week I have for you all, the first of two Dreadball posts (the second will be next week). Please note I have not placed them on hex bases, yet.

I also have for you all today a project I quickly put together during the week. About two weeks ago I came up with an image for some new blog images. However, I did not have the skills to draw it as images to use on the blog. The idea was to do a Decepticon Seeker with roman style robes, a sword, and a lantern to make a Kingdom Death Monster survivor style Neoscream. Last week I went food shopping with my parents and picked up a booster of Series Six of the Transformers Tiny Titans. These are small nontransformable/nonmoving figures of G1, Beast Wars and Robots in Disguise characters done in a Robots in Disguise style with half asked paint joys/colour schemes compared to the art cards that come with them. They come in blind boosters with one per pack, and there is normally twelve to a series. I pulled a G1 Grimlock (which I have already started repainting him) and noticed that series six has the seeker Acid Rain. I came up with the idea of converting one to the Kingdom Death Monster Neoscream. I searched online for one and all I can see being sold separately was one for £4 with £12 postage and packing from America (before import tax). As the RRP is about £2.50 to £3 per booster and that the boosters are on sale at the supermarket, I decided not to buy it. However, the next time I went food shopping with my parents, I brought twelve boosters for £1.25p each. Sadly I did not pull a single Acid Rain, but after looking at the Nightstrike figure I decided I could convert him to be more like a Seeker. I managed to get it ready quite quickly and it took me about a day to paint it up. I decided not to do the robes due to how complex of a job it would be. Below is some images Nightstrike pre-conversion (OK it is the extra copy I pulled), Nightstrike's card art (to show how bad the colouring on these figures) and the finished Neoscream. Oh and I do plan on repainting the others I pulled in more correct colours in the future. I would have loved to include the rough drawings I did of the original idea, but I cannot find them at the moment.

After posting the previous post I managed to get one more game of my Kingdom Death Monster campaign. I fought a level two White Lion. OMG. I really do miss not having the Encourage and Surge survival actions in this campaign. However, I managed to get by without losing anyone during the Showdown. Sadly I did lose Amy due to Murder, but the Murderer did get the best result on the table (best for Kingdom Death Monster, not in real life). He is seen as a mighty leader, gaining three Fighting Art's and three Disorders of my choice as well as some hunt experience. I decided to make him, Sephiroth (formerly Cloud before forgetting his name due to an event), as my tank.

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop for a game of Mansions of Madness second edition with Bob. The scenario we were playing had us in a hotel and we had to escape. The only way was to get help from a sailor out on the sea to come get us. However, he would not until we had found a friend of his which we could not. Oddly I managed to win due to an insanity I picked up that course me to win if we failed. So I have won both games of Mansions of Madness we have played.

On Thursday I went down to York House from the normal HeroClix event. This week's scenario was 500 points, villain teams only, no figure on a base larger than a peanut base. I was originally going to do a Hellfire Club team. However, Michael asked to borrow a figure off Darren that I was planning on asking for. So I went for an A.I.M. team mainly based on the Iron Man 3. They were:

Mandarin
Killian (103 Marvel Iron Man 3) 75
Brandt (011 Marvel Iron Man 3) 78
Savin (015 Marvel Iron Man 3) 45
Extremis Soldier (005 Marvel Iron Man 3) 30
Mandarin (004 Marvel Iron Man 3) 120
Extremis Mercenary (105 Marvel Iron Man 3) 50
2 x A.I.Marine (018 Marvel Incredible Hulk) 50 x 2 = 100

It was a weak team (or at least they looked it), but they did end up winning two out of the three games. They only lost to Darren's team.
Aldrich Killian

Next week's scenario will be 600 points, four Actions, Villain teams only. Figures with Battle Fury can choose one of either Charge, Flurry, +1 Damage or +1 Attack each turn.

Up and coming games planned are a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament at Wargames Workshop MK on Saturday Kingdom Death Monster with Bob on Monday at Wargames Workshop MK and HeroClix hopefully on Thursday. Oh, and next week’s post theme will be the second part of my two-part DreadBall posts.

Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.
