Neoscream's Painting Table: Campaign and London. 12th May 2017

Welcome to the return of "Neoscream's Painting Table". (I know an unfinished version of this mistakenly appeared online on Tuesday, sorry.) We are back to the new normal, but there is no backlog photos this week as the photo box has no setup yet as I still need to do a lot more work in my shed. This week I have managed to paint up the second Thief, both Treasure Hunters and the Infantrywoman for my new Frostgrave Warband, as well as two Kingdom Death Monster. I am now working on some more KDM figures. Here are the photos of this week's figures with last week's ones. I included last week's figures as I forget to do multiple angels.

Oh and here is the special figure I was working on. It is meant to be Mikazuki Munechika from Touken Ranbu. I have done this for a good friend (and sadly only a friend) Wai-Yin who is a BIG Touken Ranbu fan and does cosplay as Mikazuki Munechika (and a couple of other characters from the games if I remember correctly).

Life

First thing, please note that the photos from here onward (including the ones in the gaming sections) are from my London trip or from Campaign. I will try to include photos of my room and maybe my shed in next week's post.

The problem has been fixed. Sadly not the way I would have preferred, especially with my 35th birthday coming (this Saturday). It would have been the best present to have life move forward. So I am going to be 35 and never had a girlfriend, this will be a massive downer.

Anyway, with the bedroom and shed, I have been doing a lot more sorting out. However, I still have to try to clear out more from the shed. I ham going to have to be more harasser with my throwing (also the rain today does not help ever).

I have also been doing a little upgrade to my computer after the problem I have been having with online gaming. Darren H said he would give me a better keyboard as mine as it keeps cutting out in the middle of a game. I picked up a Bluetooth mouse and a Bluetooth dongle to replace the mouse that came with my old keyboard. This will also mean I will be able to use a Bluetooth headset too.

On Tuesday I went to London with my mum to see the Robot exhibition at the Science Museum. It was really good but not as good as I thought. I did pick up the book on Robot that was done for the exhibition.

After the Science Museum, we then went to Notting Hill to see the Kyoto Garden (Japanese garden) in Holland Park which Wai-Yin told me about. However, on the way, we spotted an EE store. We were planning on getting a new phone for my mum, so we popped in after something like two hours we walked out with a new phone for my mum, a massive saving on her monthly bill and a Skull Candy Bluetooth headphones for free which I got. As they also have a built-in mic, I can use them with my computer, now that I have a Bluetooth receiver for the computer.

Anyway, after that, we continued to Holland Pack, but before we went to Kyoto Garden, we went to the Cafe for lunch. After lunch, we finally went to Kyoto Garden. If was a lot smaller than what I thought, but still very beautiful.

After Kyoto Garden, we went to Forbidden Planet for a Geeky nosey. Sadly they did not have much Transformers in this time, but I did pick up some HeroClix figures (two Captain America Civil War and four Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 boosters), the Transformer Revolution graphic novel (as I have been planning on getting back into the Transformers comics) and a Dragonball Z Vegeta key ring. Oh and a new Simon's Cat book for my mum.

Whenever I go to Forbidden Planet, I normally pop into Orcs Nest, but this time I decided not to due to both Salute and Campaign, I was a little gamed out. We were planning on going to Evans for my mum. However, we took far too long at EE (due to them being very busy for a small store) and my mum's legs could not take any more (even tho we sat down most of the time in EE), we decided to call it a day there and go home.

Campaign Gaming

Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th was Campaign, a Wargaming convention that happens in Milton Keynes on the weekend following May Day. Like normal, I took a bunch of old stuff to the Bring and Buy. Sadly only made about £22, which pays for the Shadow War Armageddon rulebook I picked up. I also picked up at Campaign two pots of paint and three foam trays to store my KDM survivors in. Sadly I could have gone with just one or two as all the painted survivors one with some room to spare.

On the first day, I watch a game of Dark Souls which Bob was playing in. The club that was running it was running a Boss (not Mini Boss) battle against Executioner Smough and Dragon Slayer Ornstein. The characters were well equipped. In fact too well equipped. It was close (a little), but they managed to win.

I then tried an Ork racing participation game. It was a good laugh and I came second. If I heard Richard correctly he and a nephew played the game too.

I do not really do the second day, apart from buying the foam trays and collecting from the Bring and Buy. I decided to go to Wargames Workshop MK for some card games.

Online Gaming Night

On Saturday night, I got together with Darren H, Richard and Simon online to play several games of Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide again. We all had problems with the voice chat in the game. So after a couple of games, we switch to Skype.

Cardfight Vanguard Casual

On Sunday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for some card gaming. The original plan was to ever join in the Cardfight Vanguard G Character Booster Three "Rummy Labyrinth Under the Moonlight" sneak-peek if they need the number or play some Future Card Buddyfight or Force of Will. However, only Wai-Yin turn up for the sneak-peek and only Blake turned up for Future Card Buddyfight. So the three of us plus Jordan had two Cardfight Vanguard duos games. The one I teams up Wai-Yin and the second one I teamed up with Jordan.

On Monday after my game of Frostgrave (which I will talk about next), I got a couple of games of Cardfight Vanguard against Wai-Yin and Liam who were trying out new decks.

Frostgrave

On Monday I went down to Wargame Workshop MK for a game of Frostgrave. It was the second game of our second campaign. We played the second scenario from the core book, "Genie in the Bottle". Only four of us turned up this time, so we split into two "one versus one" games. I was up against Bob. The first treasure I picked up was the Lamp (or bottle), so my Wizard cast Leap on the Thief that picked it up to get them off the field. Then I kept my distance away from the Genie, sacrificing my warcat to the genie. I managed to get two more treasure tokens off and then buggered off leaving Bob dealing with the Genie as I could not harm it at all as it can only be harmed by magical weapons. He managed to defeat the Genie as he had Mystical Warriors the have fists that count as Magical Weapons.

My Wizard went up two more levels so I improved both my Fight and Health. I also gained just under 350 gold and a ton of Potions. I am still thinking of what should I do.

HeroClix

On Thursday I went down to York House for some HeroClix. As Michael was Hospitalised, it was just me and Darren S. we each brought three 400 points teams for three games. Darren S won all three game like normal. I will reveal only one team as the other two were test teams for the scenario planned for the next time we are all together. The team was a Pro-Registration who were:

Iron Man (002 Marvel Civil War) 80
She-Hulk (006 Marvel Civil War) 90
Yellowjacket (010 Marvel Civil War) 60
Doc Samson (012 Marvel Civil War) 70
Spider-Man (014 Marvel Civil War) 80
=380 points

Future Gaming

  • Cardfight Vanguard Tournament on Saturday 13th (my Birthday)
  • Kingdom Death Monster on Monday 15th
  • HeroClix on Thursday 18th

Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Life and Painting Table: A return to painting. 6th May 2017

Welcome to another, and most likely the last, "Neoscream's Life post or is it "Neoscream's Painting Table". This will be the last of my "Neoscream's Life" post, but I will try to do life updates on my "Neoscream's Painting Table" posts now and then. I am back to painting again and I plan on changing how the posts are done slightly. Instead of a group of backlog figures, I plan on doing a picture of the figures I finished that week what is currently on the painting table (if the table is tidy) and the backlog until it is all done (starting whenever I re-setup the photo box).

With my bedroom and Shed, I have sorted out a couple of more boxes and almost filled the three towers with boxed Transformers. I plan on finishing things next week as I am off work for nine days for Campaign and my Birthday.

Painting Table

On Monday I got a lot of painting do and fixed a bunch of KDM figures that got damage. I need to find a better way to carry the boxes containing the Survivors as the bag with the folders for things like gear cards and campaign sheets. Anyway, from then and now (as I post this) I have managed to finish a late Birthday gift for a friend (pictures will come after I give it to them), the Wizard, Apprentice, Captain and one of the Thieves for my new Frostgrave Warband and a gift for another friend which I done a lot of work to (pictures will come after I give it to the person).

And now to gaming.

Sadly the photo box is not reset up yet.

Computer Gaming

On Sunday night after posting the last post, myself, Richard and Darren H meet online and played three games of Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide. There was no Simon as he was away for the weekend. We all had a load of technical issues. More due to microphones. However, my keyboard was doing its normal freezing at times like what it does with Left4Dead. I have a feeling I might need to invest in a better keyboard for gaming.

Dark Souls

On Thursday as there was no HeroClix, I went down to Wargames Workshop MK to play Bob's new board game, Dark Souls. We were joined by Anthony and Matthew. It looks really good and is very simple to play, but hard to win like KDM and the Dark Souls computer games it is based on. I played as the Knight and was Tanking most of the time. We sadly only had time for the Mini-Boss, but we did take photos so we could try to continue on to the Boss at a later date hopefully. The Mini-Boss we went against was Gargoyle. It was easy, but that was most likely due to the fact that we knew how hard the game was and made sure we were tooled up before fighting the Mini-Boss.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Life: Salute and Problems. April 30th 2017

Welcome everybody to another "Neoscream's Life" post. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have not done much to the room since the last post, partly due to Salute. However, I have done a little work on the deck. People who follow me on Facebook or Twitter will know I was at Salute. It was a great day out, but sadly I spent more money than I was planning. I have also managed to do a bit of miniature work done. While at Salute I picked up a new Warband for Frostgrave and two figures I want to paint up (and Heavily convert one) for some friends. So I have been building, converting, undercoating and started painting them.

There most likely be no post next week, due to the lack of gaming and getting ready for Campaign. However, "Neoscream's Painting Table" might be back the following week.

I also have been avoiding writing this as there are things I really want to talk about. But after the whole Shenell thing I know I cannot really. Maybe I should be avoiding using that beeping name (the problem is not Shenell, but the damage that was done to me emotional does effect this), but I used it so that people who know me for a long time will know what I am talking about. I will try to do a brief outline with what is happening, without giving too many details that will course more problems. There seems to be a problem between myself and someone I really like and I do not know how to handle it. It is hurting me not knowing how to solve it. I have asked friends who do not know her for some advice and it mainly just to leave things alone and wait. (No Simon, I am not sending dick pics like you keep on suggesting to do. I know she will not like that what so ever.) However, waiting is hurting more as I just want to get things sorted. To be honest, as I was writing this I am getting close to tears as I feel lost. (But the tears side could be due to the Eczema around my eye irritating my eyes. I know it is a stupid thing, but my life does get me like that sadly.

Anyway, let us get on to gaming.

HeroClix

On Thursday the 20th of April, I went down to York House for some HeroClix. The scenario was "The New Age". 400 points, no figure above 100 points and no ATA's. I went for a "New X-Men" themed team who were:

Cyclops (001 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Jean Grey (002 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Beast (003 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Angel (004 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Iceman (005 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Kitty Pryde (023a Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 45
X-23 (037 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 100
=395 points

To cut things short (as I am writing this just over a week after it happened), I won both my games against Michael and Adrian, but they were close games if I remember correctly. Also like normal, I lost my game against Darren S.

There was no HeroClix on Thursday 27th of April as both Adrian and Darren S called it off on the day and there will be no HeroClix on Thursday 4th of May as both Adrian and Michael are busy.

Cardfight Vanguard Tournament

As I am writing this about a week after the event I will not be going into so many details about the rounds. On Sunday 23rd of April, I went to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Duos Tournament. It was on a Sunday instead of Saturday because of the Magic the Gathering Prerelease event. However, the prerelease still had a very huge turnout on the third and final day of the event. So we were moved to the spare room in the comic book store "Magic Comic Kingdom" (owned by Carl the owner of Wargames Workshop). Sadly the room did not have the room to support a six-team duos tournament. So we had to do a singles tournament. Damn it! So all the planning I did with Wai-Yin was a waste.

I won two of the rounds during the pre top four cut off rounds. One round against a new player called John and the other round was against Wai-Yin which was a close round. Even though Wai-Yin sadly would not agree.

I managed to get into the top four cut off. In the semifinals, I was up against Shell. She won like normal for her and she won the finals too.

After the event, I managed to trade with Shell for my second copy of the new Grandgallop. Just two more to go.

Kingdom Death Monster

This one is easy to write as it is just a copy and paste job (with some little changes) as I have already written it on a new Facebook group I made so that both my KDM groups can interact with one and other and I can share information to both groups at once.

On Monday the 24th of April, I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of KDM. There was no Bob as he had a game of The Walking Dead All Out War with Peter booked. Also, there was no Adrian as he called off at the last minute. So it was just me, Wai-Yin and Michael. We all took our normal Survivors. Wai-Yin took Alice, I took Marth (named after the Fire Emblem character) and Michael took his normal character which I cannot remember the name. As there were only three of us we took a random female Survivor which we called Char.

We hunted a level one White Lion and won without losing anyone or taking any serious injuries. We got enough resources to build upgrade the pool and finally built Wai-Yin's Cat Gut Bow and as well as two more pieces of our third set of Rawhide Armour. Oh and all three of our characters went up an Age and all got an extra +1 to Strength.

As it was quick and we had the time. We sent our Endeavours on Purifying both Adrian's and Bob's current characters and then went on another hurt against another level one White Lion. It was another easy fight. The only problem we would have has was a double Gorm Climate with both at the low result. However, we realised we were safe as it would have only destroyed Resources in the Settlement Storage. Resources gain/leftover from a Showdown are only recorded in Settlement Storage at the end of the Settlement phase. So the resources we just gained was safe and as we spent all the resources before going on the hunt, we had nothing to lose. We finished off the third set of Rawhide Armour and Purified two more Survivors.

There was three mistake made. During the two Lantern Years. The first one was I stupidly got Deadly mixed up with Devastating on the first Showdown. (Deadly is +1 Luck while Devastating is deal extra damage.) Sadly it was done and could not do anything about it, but we did realise we missed out on two critical wounds. However, afterward, at home, I realised I had also forgotten I had Savage one my weapon too. (On Critical Wounds deal extra damage.) So I had only accidentally done one extra wound to the first Lion and I would have done two more damage to the second as I critical wounded it twice. Lol. Facepalm. Oh and the third mistake was that we forgot to use an endeavour when we innervated both years. That is an easy fix. We just un-Purify one of the Survivors, as we could not have done them.

Sadly due to Monday 1st of May being a Bank holiday and the following Monday being Frostgrave, the next KDM game for the Wargames Workshop MK group will not be happening until the 15th of May.

Star Trek Ascendancy

Roxy was back in MK for several days and HeroClix was canceled, we decided to try out Star Trek Ascendancy. We played a two player game where she was the Klingons and I was the Federation. It was at first a peaceful game there was an early Trade Agreement that gave both sides a lot of Production. One side used a stockpile of Production and a ton of warp bonus to create two full-size battle fleets to attack the homeworld of the opposite player. They conquered the defending ships and homeworld with easy and then defended against a counter-attack before taking the planet for their own. The Federation conquered the Klingons using the Klingons own brute force tactics.

Star Trek Ascendancy is an interesting game and I do plan on buying the Brog expansion as well as at least one of the other races so I can do four player games.

Well until next time, until all are one with the Lantern Spark.

Neoscream's Life: 2nd to 8th May 2016

Welcome everybody to another the "Neoscream's Life" post. This is my weekly post of life, what games I have been playing, what I have been painting and what I have watching and reading. This week's Kingdom Death opening pictures is the Spidicules.

"Life"

As we could not get a game of Frostgrave on Monday as the store was on Sunday hours due to the bank holiday, we managed to arrange a gaming the following Tuesday, however we could only get one table. Luckily it was a four by four table. It was a little clustered with five players, but we coped. We played the fourth scenario of the "Thaw of the Lich King". As it was a four foot square table instead of three foot we increase the size of the centre square from one foot to one and a half, and as there was five players instead of two we increase the treasure in the centre to seven, we each placed one treasure token like normal and we placed fifteen Armoured Skeletons in the centre. Sadly the lightning never hit the pillars before we had to finish at round seven. I was nice and ready all for several round to destroy several Armoured Skeletons for experience. Sadly I only got one treasure token and only gained two levels. With the first level I upped my Wizard's health and with the second I improved a spell, Embed Enchantment. Luckily only the Warhound died, so I had to hire a new one, Rocky the third.

On Friday I went down to Stroud with my parents to my Uncle Jim's funeral. It was nice seeing my Cousins and Aunt, but I wish it could have been for nicer reasons  and Uncle Jim was there.

On the weekend I was as Campaign. Like normal I put over a box load of stuff on the Bring and Buy. I managed to make £70.30 at the Bring and buy. Sweet money for Brighton and other things. I managed to get a demo game of Wrath of Kings and played another random game.

This week apart from Monday, I am off work. I will be at Brighton for a couple of day during the week for a Foxes concert, my birthday and there is some chaos happening during the weekend as well. It will be another busy week.

"HeroClix"

On Thursday like normal I went down to York House for some HeroClix with Darren S, Michael and Adrian. The scenario was the fourth week of the Countdown to Civil War "Civil War is Here". 500 points. You most use the figure of your chosen character from the first week. No one else can use that figure, however people can use the character. Only characters from the film and your character's side.

I went for an Avengers themed team who were:

Black Widow (001 Marvel Avengers Assemble) 110
Iron Man (201 Marvel Invincible Iron Man) 110
Vision (013 Marvel Chaos War) 95
War Machine (200 Marvel Hammer of Thor) 137
Spider-Man (001 Marvel Secret Invasion) 50
=502 points

On the first round I was up against Adrian who was also using an Avengers themed team who were:

Black Panther (037 Marvel Captain America) 128
Black Widow (001 Marvel Avengers Assemble) 110
Iron Man (009 Marvel HeroClix 10th Anniversary) 125
War Machine (200 Marvel Hammer of Thor) 137
=500 points

Sadly I lost this game. Also Darren S won his game against Michael. On the second round I was up against Michael who was also using an Avengers themed team who were:

Black Widow (105 Marvel Age of Ultron movie) 75
Red Hulk (033 Marvel Deadpool) 150
War Machine (029a Marvel Invincible Iron Man) 125
Iron Man (101 Marvel Age of Ultron movie) 150
=500 points

I managed to win this game. Also Darren S won his game against Adrian. On the third and final round I was up against Darren S who was using a non themed team who were:

Captain America (001 Marver Captain America Civil War Starter) 95
Falcon (004 Marver Captain America Civil War Starter) 95
Hawkeye (039 Marvel Chaos War) 98
Scarlet Witch (006 Marvel Chaos War) 75
Sharon Carter (022 Marvel Chaos War) 45
Winter Soldier (024 Marvel Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD) 95
=503 points

Sadly like normal against Darren S I lost. Also Adrian won his game against his brother Michael.

There will be no HeroClix this week as I will be getting back to Milton Keynes from the Brighton Foxes concert a bit too late to get ready and I will most likely be too tired as well. Still waiting on a scenario for next week.

"Painting and Converting"

For this post I have for you all four rebased Cygnar Rangers and two Convergence Reflex Servitors.

During the week I managed to finish painting one Malifaux figure and two Arcadia Quest figures.

In the next "Gaming News from Neoscream" post I should have for you all the Cygnar Character Light Warjack Ace, the Cygnar Warcaster Caine and five UFO for the XCOM board game.

Below is an image of my painting table at the end of last Sunday night or the start of Monday morning.

Campaign 2015

Welcome all to my Campaign 2015 post. A little later than planned as the file never saved and I lost all the work I had done. Like with the Salute coverage this year I posted all the pictures on Twitter which then get automatically posted on Facebook and now I am doing a big post of the event. All the photos from the event can be found on my Twitter account. There was not as many photos compared to Salute as the event in a hell of a lot smaller. Despite its small size there were three industry names were there. These were Warlord Games, Mongoose Publishing and KR Multicase. For those who do not know about Campaign, it is a yearly event (but did not happen last year) run by the Milton Keynes Wargames Society for tournaments DBM, Saga and Flames of War at Middeton Hall at the Centre MK. However the are traders, demo games and partition games.
Well, where to begin. It was a good weekend, but nowhere near as go as Salute, due to the size. Campaign is a local event held in a shopping centre (a Mall for my American readers) while Salute is a Nation event held at a convention centre. I brought a ton of old bits and bobs that I do not need any more to the Bring and Buy at Campaign. I did not manage to get rid of everything, but I did make £76.95 (after their 10% cut) at the Bring and Buy.

At the show I got a demo of Malifaux and Infinity. Two games I have been interested in starting, but have not. I do have a couple of bits from both games (three figures from Infinity and the Hire Swords and three figures from Malifaux) but never really got into them. With Infinity, I like the Sci-fi/anime feel with hackers and mecha, but no one is current playing it at the store (Wargames Workshop MK). While the figures from Malifaux are great (as well) and people are playing it at the store, but I do not own terrain that can be used in the game. I did Malifaux first and it was a good game which I won. While the Infinity game I lost badly, due to dice rolls and luck. I decided to go for Malifaux with my choose faction Ten Thunders (thanks YouTuber Oasisrising), but I “might” pick up an Infinity faction/team in the future as there is talk of people playing the game soon as the store is stocking more of it.

The hoard minus the Black ray undercoat and Zombicide Storage Case.
I also spend money at the event as well. Here is a list of the stuff (no prices this time as some stuff was discounted but not labelled with the discount):

On Saturday:
·         Trista the Female Warrior from Reapers Dark Heaven Bones range.
·         Astrid the Female Bard from Reapers Dark Heaven Bones range.
·         Sephera the Warrioress from Nasteez.
·         Guardian Alpha from EMP Games.
·         A green Zombicide Storage Case (from Waterstones).
·         The main Malifaux rulebook.
·         The Malifaux Arcane Fate Deck.
·         The Malifaux Schemes and Strategies Cards.
·         The Thunder box set for Malifaux.
·         The Samurai box set for Malifaux.
Miss Ery
·         A Malifaux Mystery Box for free. Turned out to be Miss Ery. I would have prefer the Katanaka Sniper as it would have been useful for Ten Thunders.
·         Two wooden movement trays for two 25mm round base figure. For my Deadzone Rebs Heavy Weapons teams.

On Sunday:
·         A can of Black spray undercoat.
·         A painted six man Precursor Knights unit with attachment (for £15).

I shockingly only spent about £118 (not including lunch or drinks). More than Salute, however I did start a new game, Malifaux. After the Bring and Buy this reduces it to just £31.

Until next time, hope for a better tomorrow.
