Neoscream's Painting Table - Dreadball January 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another "Neoscream's Painting Table". This week I have for you all, the first of two Dreadball posts (the second will be next week). Please note I have not placed them on hex bases, yet.

I also have for you all today a project I quickly put together during the week. About two weeks ago I came up with an image for some new blog images. However, I did not have the skills to draw it as images to use on the blog. The idea was to do a Decepticon Seeker with roman style robes, a sword, and a lantern to make a Kingdom Death Monster survivor style Neoscream. Last week I went food shopping with my parents and picked up a booster of Series Six of the Transformers Tiny Titans. These are small nontransformable/nonmoving figures of G1, Beast Wars and Robots in Disguise characters done in a Robots in Disguise style with half asked paint joys/colour schemes compared to the art cards that come with them. They come in blind boosters with one per pack, and there is normally twelve to a series. I pulled a G1 Grimlock (which I have already started repainting him) and noticed that series six has the seeker Acid Rain. I came up with the idea of converting one to the Kingdom Death Monster Neoscream. I searched online for one and all I can see being sold separately was one for £4 with £12 postage and packing from America (before import tax). As the RRP is about £2.50 to £3 per booster and that the boosters are on sale at the supermarket, I decided not to buy it. However, the next time I went food shopping with my parents, I brought twelve boosters for £1.25p each. Sadly I did not pull a single Acid Rain, but after looking at the Nightstrike figure I decided I could convert him to be more like a Seeker. I managed to get it ready quite quickly and it took me about a day to paint it up. I decided not to do the robes due to how complex of a job it would be. Below is some images Nightstrike pre-conversion (OK it is the extra copy I pulled), Nightstrike's card art (to show how bad the colouring on these figures) and the finished Neoscream. Oh and I do plan on repainting the others I pulled in more correct colours in the future. I would have loved to include the rough drawings I did of the original idea, but I cannot find them at the moment.

After posting the previous post I managed to get one more game of my Kingdom Death Monster campaign. I fought a level two White Lion. OMG. I really do miss not having the Encourage and Surge survival actions in this campaign. However, I managed to get by without losing anyone during the Showdown. Sadly I did lose Amy due to Murder, but the Murderer did get the best result on the table (best for Kingdom Death Monster, not in real life). He is seen as a mighty leader, gaining three Fighting Art's and three Disorders of my choice as well as some hunt experience. I decided to make him, Sephiroth (formerly Cloud before forgetting his name due to an event), as my tank.

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop for a game of Mansions of Madness second edition with Bob. The scenario we were playing had us in a hotel and we had to escape. The only way was to get help from a sailor out on the sea to come get us. However, he would not until we had found a friend of his which we could not. Oddly I managed to win due to an insanity I picked up that course me to win if we failed. So I have won both games of Mansions of Madness we have played.

On Thursday I went down to York House from the normal HeroClix event. This week's scenario was 500 points, villain teams only, no figure on a base larger than a peanut base. I was originally going to do a Hellfire Club team. However, Michael asked to borrow a figure off Darren that I was planning on asking for. So I went for an A.I.M. team mainly based on the Iron Man 3. They were:

Mandarin
Killian (103 Marvel Iron Man 3) 75
Brandt (011 Marvel Iron Man 3) 78
Savin (015 Marvel Iron Man 3) 45
Extremis Soldier (005 Marvel Iron Man 3) 30
Mandarin (004 Marvel Iron Man 3) 120
Extremis Mercenary (105 Marvel Iron Man 3) 50
2 x A.I.Marine (018 Marvel Incredible Hulk) 50 x 2 = 100

It was a weak team (or at least they looked it), but they did end up winning two out of the three games. They only lost to Darren's team.
Aldrich Killian

Next week's scenario will be 600 points, four Actions, Villain teams only. Figures with Battle Fury can choose one of either Charge, Flurry, +1 Damage or +1 Attack each turn.

Up and coming games planned are a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament at Wargames Workshop MK on Saturday Kingdom Death Monster with Bob on Monday at Wargames Workshop MK and HeroClix hopefully on Thursday. Oh, and next week’s post theme will be the second part of my two-part DreadBall posts.

Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Painting Table - Doctor Who and Guild Ball January 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another "Neoscream's Painting Table". This week I have for you all a Guild Ball miniature and several Doctor Who based miniatures. The Doctor Who based miniatures are from several sources. Please note that these are NOT official Doctor Who miniatures from Crooked Dice Games and Heresy Miniatures. However, both Warlord Games and Gale Force Nine will be releasing officially miniatures with games to play them with some time this year.

On Saturday last week, I went to Simon's with Richard and Darren from a game of Kingdom Death Monster. My stuff was a lot more organised now as I have brought a custom insert for the box and a second folder to tidy up campaigns and loss bit. We finished off the Settlement phase which we had not done the session before due to the length of time it took fighting the King's Hand. We decided to face the Gorm. Luckily we had Songs of the Brave so we can cancel the evil Gorm Climate event from triggering. We went for a Level two as in power levels it is on the same level as the White Lion and we are really too powerful for level one. We did quite well. We sadly did not get around to do a full Settlement phase as we have a Nemesis event against a level two Lion Knight to deal with which wended did not have the time to deal with then. So he will have to wait until the next game this group does.

On Sunday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament. This time to spice things up we are playing with no G-Zone. I used a deck that is new to the blog, but one that I have been using a lot lately, Double Legend Celestial Angel Feather. They do not use Strides normally so are ideal for this format, but sadly some of the triggers do have GB1 abilities sadly. I am enjoying the deck, but I do have a speed problem with it. Especially at the start of tournaments. We played five round swiss with a top four knockout afterward. I won two of the five rounds and shockingly managed to make it to the top four cut off. Sadly I lost the first game of the knockout and I ended up in fourth. However, it was good fun and I did do well somehow. With coming fourth I managed to win two booster packs of GBT-09.

Also on Monday, I went down to Wargames Workshop MK to play a game of Kingdom Death Monster with Bob, Adrian, and Michael. In this campaign, we were up against a Level one Lion Knight. (Yes he is getting about.) We lost the fight with the Lion Knight killed both Adrian's and Bob's characters and my character ended up retiring due to a kiss from one of his retinue. Damn it! And the beeping Lion Knight was on his last wound.

During the week I managed to get several more lantern year's done on my solo Kingdom Death Monster campaign as I was off work this week. During the week I have fought four more level one Gorms and a Flower Knight. I have defeated them all with almost no worries. However, I am suffering from too much Murder events popping up. Killing my most experienced survivors. Both my best survivors Louisa and Sky have both been kill due to it. On a good bit of news, my settlement is breeding like rabbits.

On Thursday I went down to York House in Stony Stratford for some games of HeroClix with Darren S, Michael and Adrian. This week's scenario was 400 points, villains teams only, characters with the Scientist keyword gains Mastermind. I decided to use a Brotherhood of Mutants themed team who were:

Vanisher (018 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 40
Pyro (006 Marvel X-Men Days of Future Past) 90
Destiny (011 Marvel X-Men Days of Future Past) 50
Mystique (018 Marvel X-Men Days of Future Past) 82
Magneto (037a Marvel Wolverine and the X-Men) 65
Blob (033 Marvel Giant Size X-Men) 76

I only won one of the three games, but one of the losses was a very close game. The next scenario for HeroClix will be 500 points, villain teams only, no characters on anything bigger than a peanut base.

Up and coming games planned are Mansions of Madness with Bob on Monday at Wargames Workshop MK and HeroClix hopefully on Thursday. Oh, and next week’s post theme will be the first of two DreadBall posts.

Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Painting Table - Warmachine January 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another "Neoscream's Painting Table". This week I have for you all a bunch of Warmachine miniatures. It was meant to be four Cygnar Trencher Infantryman, two Cygnar Warjack Wreck Tokens, two Cygnar Hunter Light Warjacks and Taryn di Rovissi. However, I have decided to add the whole Trencher Infantry unit minus attachments and all third of my Hunter Light Warjacks as it is easier to do this as the new ones have been mixed with the old ones for months for Tournament play. I do have the Officer and Sniper attachment painted for the Trenchers as they were converted and painted ahead of my painting schedule due to Tournament play. However, you will have to wait for my next Warmachine painting post to see them. Oh and the Wreck Tokens were painted just before it was revealed that third edition will not be using Wreck Tokens anymore. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Well, at least I can use they could be uses as terrain. And yes I did forget them in the group photo.

On a bit of sad news, there will be no more Steam Roller Tournaments for Warmachine and Hordes from Guardians of Tyr at Wargames Workshop MK. But Guardians of Tyr are still running their Steam Roller Tournaments at Wargames Workshop Northamption.

Now for what gaming I have been doing since the last post. On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK to play a game of The Walking Dead with Bob. It is a miniatures game by Mantic based on the "The Walking Dead" comics (note not the TV series). This was Bob's game as I do not own a copy. We played the second tutorial scenario as I was new to the game and there is only one real scenario in the core game. It was an enjoyable game, however not one I will be getting. If Bob wants to run more games of it, I will most likely play if I am not busy playing anything else. Oh, I did lose the game, due to some of the tactics in the game that can make guns quite nasty. It is run behind an opponent making sure the opponent is between you and the Walkers, then fire the gun at ever a Walker or an opponent. All the Walkers (but not the ones engaged or knocked down) within 10" of you will move 6" (their movement) in a straight line and stop if they hit something that is not another Walker. As the opponent is between you and them they should be stopping adjacent to the opponent, becoming engaged with the opponent. A nasty trick which I knew about.

Due to work, there was no HeroClix this week. However, I forgot to talk about the previous week’s games last week so I will cover them here. It was the first week of our villains series of games. The build was 300 points, villains teams only, Blades/Claws/Fangs deal one extra point of damage. Teams only count as villains if they are working against the government/law. So teams like Thunderbolts, Suicide Squad and Weapon X are not classed as Villains in this, but teams like Captain America's anti-registration team is considered a Villain team. Anti-Heroes are still sort of classes heroes still. I went for a Marauders team who were:

Sabretooth (Marvel Uncanny X-Men 031) 75
Lady Mastermind (Marvel Uncanny X-Men 012) 45
Riptide (Marvel Uncanny X-Men 014) 45
Scrambler (Marvel Uncanny X-Men 015) 30
John Greycrow (Marvel Uncanny X-Men 017) 60
Vanisher (Marvel Uncanny X-Men 018) 40
=295 points and three re-rolls

I managed to win all three games. I  think it is more due to good dice rolls on my side and terrible dice rolls from Darren S.

The next scenario for HeroClix will be 400 points, villain teams only, no character over 200 points, Characters with the Scientist keyword gains Mastermind.

Up and coming games planned are Kingdom Death Monster on Saturday with Richard, Darren H and Simon, Vanguard Tournament at Wargames Workshop MK on Sunday, Kingdom Death Monster with at least Bob and Adrian on Monday at Wargames Workshop MK and HeroClix hopefully on Thursday. Oh, and next week’s post theme will be "Odds and Ends" post.

Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark. (If no one gets the reference it is based on a quote on Transformers, but I have given it a Kingdom Death twist).

Neoscream's Painting Table - Kingdom Death January 2017

Hi all and welcome to the all new "Neoscream's Painting Table". Yes I did say I would be calling it "Neoscream's Life" on my returning post, however I  decided as I started writing this give it a more suitable name. Oh and the label will be "Painting Table".

This week I will continue with the Kingdom Death Monster theme with my three Knights. I had posted the Lion Knight before, however as I am doing his Court and the other two expansion Knight I decided to re-post him too. Sadly as you may notice, the Dung Beetle Knight is missing his right hand. It dropped on the floor when I was building the Dung Beetle Knight (over six months ago) and I have never found it since.

Oh and I have included old image of the Lion Knight below to compare the change of quality using the Mini Photo Studio has brought. Please note I am still using the camera on my Samsung Note 4.

Now for some non painting Kingdom Death stuff. The Kingdom Death Monster 1.5 KickStarter has now finished. It made almost $12.4m with over 19k backers. This has made it the fourth biggest KickStarter ever. With a whooping sixteen new official expansions (basically not including things like the Gamblers Chest or Super Survivors) and thirty new hard-plastic Pinups (including the two Manhunter ones).

Yesterday I started a new solo campaign as I wanted to try out the People of the Sun campaign from the Sunstalker expansion as well as trying out some of my other new expansions which I got at Christmas from the Black Friday sales. The founders Nick, Holica, Louisa (named after Foxes) and Jessus (I only just realised it is spelled wrong, but I will stick with it) took on the prologue White Lion and won with Louisa taking down by the throat with her bear hands. Louisa help set up the settlement. After that (and some printer problems, they headed on their first hunt which was a level one Gorm. This was a LONG fight as for most of it I had a LOT of bad dice rolls and several draws of the trap card. However Louise managed to lay the killing blow again. Sadly Holica was killed by the Gorm and the "Rivals" Story Event from the Spidicules expansion killed of Nick. But luckily to random survivors Frank and Amy had a child called Sky (after burning both of their re-rolls).

Next week I plan on posting a ton of Warmachine miniatures. Until next time, Till all are one with the Lantern-Spark.
