Neoscream's Painting Table: 18th June 2017

Gorm butt vs tiny Asian midget with attitude.
Who will Win?
Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. As you will see in the painting section, I have managed to do a ton of painting this week. However, what else have I do other than work, painting, and gaming this week?

I have had some chaos getting hold of the new Cardfight Vanguard set, Fighter's Collection 2017. I had put my name down to have two boxes to be placed aside, but when I got to Wargames Workshop MK on Saturday (10th of June) they had sold out due to too many preorders to what was coming in. They had more coming in soon so I had to wait until they arrived, which I got on Thursday. However, as I had preordered it with the store, they sold it still at the pre-order price of £29.99 each (instead of £32.49 each). They also thrower in some Wild West Exodus figures that they had gotten as freebies. I just have to build the figures and take some photos for Carl the own. Anyway, sadly I did not pull ever the Nova Grappler or the Dimension Police GB8s. But I did get the Oracle Think Tank and the Royal Paladin GB8s.

During the week I have also been tried to get some prep for the Future Card Buddyfight Nationals on Sunday (18th of June) by watching the anime while painting. I am hoping it will work.

Also during the week, I have been having problems with my phone's battery. It is draining quicker and charging a LOT slower. Oh and getting hot very quickly. As I am writing this I just remembered I had this problem this time last year. It has to be the weather we have been getting lately.

Painting

This week I have managed to finish painting all three of my MEC troopers for the XCOM board game, the Lonely Tree and two of its fruit from Kingdom Death Monster and five Tau Pathfinders. Oh, and yes I did convert one of the MEC troopers into a female as when I played XCOM Enemy Within on the PC I normally always made my first MEC from a Female soldier.

As you can see above, I have finished building and under my Tau Pathfinders. However, due to the extra bodies, heads, and weapons with arms that I have, I have decided to pick up some extra legs (and Drone tops) from eBay so I can build some more. To expand the Pathfinders from ten with three drones to fifteen (maybe sixteen) with five drones. I am not including photos of the built Pathfinders as half of them are in the painted photos.

I have also built up four of the seven Wild West Exodus figures I got (not including ones from Salute). As I want to show Carl (owner of Wargames Workshop) the built figures first, I will not be posting photos of them this week.

The five figures I am currently painting at the moment are all Tau Pathfinders from Warhammer 40,000. I have sixteen of them and five drones to paint. Again, as I have painted Pathfinders in the painted photos, I will not be including a photo of the Pathfinders I am currently painting.

This week's catch up bundle is some Robotech RPG Tactics stuff. Yes, I painted the Valkyrie in the same colours as Skywarp from Transformers.

Gaming

KDM WWMK

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK like normal, but this time I was playing Kingdom Death Monster with my group from the store. Sadly there was no Wai-Yin as she was doing hair. The oldest excuse in the book for women. Lol.

Due to the events of last time, Adrian (and Wai-Yin if she turned up) was using a new survivor as his last one was retired (again). We decided to hunt down another level one Gorm as we need to hide and we were worried that we would struggle to wound a level two. During the hunt, we got a Gorm event the scrawled the party a bit. Both Bob's and Michael's survivors had the Insanity set back to zero and both mine and Adrian's survivors have to skip the next hunt and do not add endeavours this game (we do need to double check on FAQs about this). Both mine and Michael's survivors hit max courage (first time in any of my games this happens). Sadly that meant we both became blinded (luckily we have Eye Patches). During the hunt, Bob gained a disorder that makes him skip every other. What did this, I sadly cannot remember. We managed to defeat it with my survivor dealing a whopping seven (out of eleven) damage to it. I did not call him Marth (Fire Emblem) for nothing.

Sadly because of Gorm Climate, we lost the two scrap and two bone we had in storage. But we managed to regain the two endeavours we lost from a funny weird dream. A Gorm butt vs a tiny Asian midget with attitude known as Wai-Yin (A BIG butt fighting a tiny monster). With the four endeavours we innervated (gaining Saga), made leather and bread twice. Oh and we also build the leather gloves and Leather pants (OK wrong names). This just leaves the Leather Boots for a full set of leather.

We are planning on playing KDM next Monday. All of us (including Wai-Yin who should be there), apart from Michael will need to use new survivors.

HeroClix

On Thursday I went down to York House for some game of HeroClix. This week's build is 300 points, no figure over 85 points. I decided to use a Marvel Knight's themed team. However, as I used the Fast Forces Luke Cage and Iron Fist two weeks in a row, I decided to not use them sadly. My team ended up being:

Black Panther (029 Marvel Avengers vs Defenders) 50
Karen Page (027 Marvel Avengers vs Defenders) 20
Punisher (005 Marvel Marvel Knights) 75
Daredevil (001 Marvel Marvel Knights) 75
Jessica Jones (004 Marvel Marvel Knights) 75
=295 points

On the first round, I was up against Darren S who was using an Avengers themed team. Like normal Darren destroyed my team. Also, Michael won his game against his brother Adrian.

On the second round, I was up against Adrian who was also using a Marvel Knight's themed team. Punisher managed to deal Adrian's team a ton of damage on the second turn as they all move in one big group, with Dagger advancing ahead. Because of that, his team crumbled to pieces. He then gave up after losing half his force. This mentioned I won the game. Also, Darren won his game against Michael.

On the third and final round, I was up against Michael who was using an Avengers themed team. It was a closer game than the one against Adrian, but I did manage to win. Also, Darren won his game against Adrian.

Overall Darren won, with me at second, Michael at third and Adrian at dead last.

KDM Simon's

On Friday evening, myself, Richard and Darren H went down to Simon's for a game of Kingdom Death Monster now that Richard is free from elections and Simon is free from holidays.

This time we had a Nemesis event to deal with and then finish of the Settlement phase leftover from last time (due to the Nemesis event). We had the choice of a level two Butcher, a level two King's Hand or a level three Kingsman. We decided to go with the Butcher. We decided to roll out Darren's original character, Ron Jeremy. He was a one-armed settlement founder with several gaping chest wounds and destroyed genitals.

It was a much easier than thought. We defeated him in three turns (maybe four), with no injuries. In fact, we managed to regain Ron's lost arm, who lost it against the level one Butcher and regained the Butcher's Cleaver, which one of his sons lost. We also realised that Ron can go on more hunts than we first thought, as he was not as experienced as we were thinking.

During the Settlement phase, we innovated which gave us Clan of Death. Because of this, we bred twice and we managed to gain a Savior. Sweet. However one of our retired settlers eat the lonely fruit from the Loney Tree. So our next hunt will be the Lonely Tree. At least the tree is painted now.

Future Games

  • On Sunday the 18th of June (today), I will be going to the Future Card Buddyfight Nationals.
  • On Monday the 19th of June, I will be playing Kingdom Death Monster at Wargames Workshop MK.

Well, that is it for this post. Until all are one with the Lantern-Spark.

Neoscream's Life: Salute and Problems. April 30th 2017

Welcome everybody to another "Neoscream's Life" post. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have not done much to the room since the last post, partly due to Salute. However, I have done a little work on the deck. People who follow me on Facebook or Twitter will know I was at Salute. It was a great day out, but sadly I spent more money than I was planning. I have also managed to do a bit of miniature work done. While at Salute I picked up a new Warband for Frostgrave and two figures I want to paint up (and Heavily convert one) for some friends. So I have been building, converting, undercoating and started painting them.

There most likely be no post next week, due to the lack of gaming and getting ready for Campaign. However, "Neoscream's Painting Table" might be back the following week.

I also have been avoiding writing this as there are things I really want to talk about. But after the whole Shenell thing I know I cannot really. Maybe I should be avoiding using that beeping name (the problem is not Shenell, but the damage that was done to me emotional does effect this), but I used it so that people who know me for a long time will know what I am talking about. I will try to do a brief outline with what is happening, without giving too many details that will course more problems. There seems to be a problem between myself and someone I really like and I do not know how to handle it. It is hurting me not knowing how to solve it. I have asked friends who do not know her for some advice and it mainly just to leave things alone and wait. (No Simon, I am not sending dick pics like you keep on suggesting to do. I know she will not like that what so ever.) However, waiting is hurting more as I just want to get things sorted. To be honest, as I was writing this I am getting close to tears as I feel lost. (But the tears side could be due to the Eczema around my eye irritating my eyes. I know it is a stupid thing, but my life does get me like that sadly.

Anyway, let us get on to gaming.

HeroClix

On Thursday the 20th of April, I went down to York House for some HeroClix. The scenario was "The New Age". 400 points, no figure above 100 points and no ATA's. I went for a "New X-Men" themed team who were:

Cyclops (001 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Jean Grey (002 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Beast (003 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Angel (004 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Iceman (005 Marvel Uncanny X-Men Fast Forces) 50
Kitty Pryde (023a Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 45
X-23 (037 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 100
=395 points

To cut things short (as I am writing this just over a week after it happened), I won both my games against Michael and Adrian, but they were close games if I remember correctly. Also like normal, I lost my game against Darren S.

There was no HeroClix on Thursday 27th of April as both Adrian and Darren S called it off on the day and there will be no HeroClix on Thursday 4th of May as both Adrian and Michael are busy.

Cardfight Vanguard Tournament

As I am writing this about a week after the event I will not be going into so many details about the rounds. On Sunday 23rd of April, I went to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Duos Tournament. It was on a Sunday instead of Saturday because of the Magic the Gathering Prerelease event. However, the prerelease still had a very huge turnout on the third and final day of the event. So we were moved to the spare room in the comic book store "Magic Comic Kingdom" (owned by Carl the owner of Wargames Workshop). Sadly the room did not have the room to support a six-team duos tournament. So we had to do a singles tournament. Damn it! So all the planning I did with Wai-Yin was a waste.

I won two of the rounds during the pre top four cut off rounds. One round against a new player called John and the other round was against Wai-Yin which was a close round. Even though Wai-Yin sadly would not agree.

I managed to get into the top four cut off. In the semifinals, I was up against Shell. She won like normal for her and she won the finals too.

After the event, I managed to trade with Shell for my second copy of the new Grandgallop. Just two more to go.

Kingdom Death Monster

This one is easy to write as it is just a copy and paste job (with some little changes) as I have already written it on a new Facebook group I made so that both my KDM groups can interact with one and other and I can share information to both groups at once.

On Monday the 24th of April, I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of KDM. There was no Bob as he had a game of The Walking Dead All Out War with Peter booked. Also, there was no Adrian as he called off at the last minute. So it was just me, Wai-Yin and Michael. We all took our normal Survivors. Wai-Yin took Alice, I took Marth (named after the Fire Emblem character) and Michael took his normal character which I cannot remember the name. As there were only three of us we took a random female Survivor which we called Char.

We hunted a level one White Lion and won without losing anyone or taking any serious injuries. We got enough resources to build upgrade the pool and finally built Wai-Yin's Cat Gut Bow and as well as two more pieces of our third set of Rawhide Armour. Oh and all three of our characters went up an Age and all got an extra +1 to Strength.

As it was quick and we had the time. We sent our Endeavours on Purifying both Adrian's and Bob's current characters and then went on another hurt against another level one White Lion. It was another easy fight. The only problem we would have has was a double Gorm Climate with both at the low result. However, we realised we were safe as it would have only destroyed Resources in the Settlement Storage. Resources gain/leftover from a Showdown are only recorded in Settlement Storage at the end of the Settlement phase. So the resources we just gained was safe and as we spent all the resources before going on the hunt, we had nothing to lose. We finished off the third set of Rawhide Armour and Purified two more Survivors.

There was three mistake made. During the two Lantern Years. The first one was I stupidly got Deadly mixed up with Devastating on the first Showdown. (Deadly is +1 Luck while Devastating is deal extra damage.) Sadly it was done and could not do anything about it, but we did realise we missed out on two critical wounds. However, afterward, at home, I realised I had also forgotten I had Savage one my weapon too. (On Critical Wounds deal extra damage.) So I had only accidentally done one extra wound to the first Lion and I would have done two more damage to the second as I critical wounded it twice. Lol. Facepalm. Oh and the third mistake was that we forgot to use an endeavour when we innervated both years. That is an easy fix. We just un-Purify one of the Survivors, as we could not have done them.

Sadly due to Monday 1st of May being a Bank holiday and the following Monday being Frostgrave, the next KDM game for the Wargames Workshop MK group will not be happening until the 15th of May.

Star Trek Ascendancy

Roxy was back in MK for several days and HeroClix was canceled, we decided to try out Star Trek Ascendancy. We played a two player game where she was the Klingons and I was the Federation. It was at first a peaceful game there was an early Trade Agreement that gave both sides a lot of Production. One side used a stockpile of Production and a ton of warp bonus to create two full-size battle fleets to attack the homeworld of the opposite player. They conquered the defending ships and homeworld with easy and then defended against a counter-attack before taking the planet for their own. The Federation conquered the Klingons using the Klingons own brute force tactics.

Star Trek Ascendancy is an interesting game and I do plan on buying the Brog expansion as well as at least one of the other races so I can do four player games.

Well until next time, until all are one with the Lantern Spark.

Gaming News from Neoscream: 3rd July 2015

Welcome to the “Gaming News from Neoscream”. This is my weekly gaming news post for miniature games, RPGs, some card games, my painting and upcoming local events.

“Gaming News”

First off we have the HeroClix news. We got previews of: Ultron-6, Ultron-6 Drone, Vision, Ultron-14, Ultron-18.2, Ultron-18.2 Drone, Age of Ultron version of Ultron and Age of Ultron version of Ultron Drone from Marvel Age of Ultron Event.

Next is the Cool Mini or Not news. With the Zombicide Black Plauge KickStarter, it is still going strong. It is currently at seventh place in the top twenty non-computer gaming KickStarters. They have released a PDF the the rulebook for Black Plague as well. Since last week’s post they have managed to unlock: The Naiada Special Guest Survivor/Necromancer Ostokar the Pale was added to both pledge levels; the Edouard Guiton and Neal Adams Special Guest Boxes as an add-on; the KickStarter exclusive Necromancer Grin was added to Knight Pledge level; Deadeye Walkers as an add-on; the Counter Base Pack as an add-on; the KickStarter exclusive Necromancer Queen Medea was added to both Pledge levels; cards for a Necromancer version of Evil Troy was added to both Pledge levels; the KickStarter exclusive Survivor Lady Faye was added to both Pledge levels; a set of two variable height deck holders as add-ons.
The Kingdom Death Bone Witch
The stretch goals that are still going as I post this are: The KickStarter exclusive Survivor Gilbert will be added to both Pledge levels at $2.8m; and the KickStarter exclusive Survivor Scowl will be added to Knight Pledge level at $2,849k.
This KickStarter will end this coming Tuesday, let us see what they can unlock between now and then.

Now for the Demigods Rising news. With Demigods Rising Evolution, since last week's post they have managed to unlock: The seventh Demigod the Angel of Death from Middara: and the Orc Rogue hero Saboteur.
The stretch goals that are still going as I post this are: The Elf Warrior hero Swordmistress a $55k.
There is a massive under estimation with the upgrade levels. You do not release plastic version with new resin version, you replace ALL plastics with the lower count new resin version. That means at Silver Level for a cost of $49, you replace the four original Demigods in plastic, the God of War, two copies of the original twenty-five heroes (now with alternate forms) in plastic and eight minions in plastic with four Demigods of you chose (seven now to choose from) in resin with alternate parts, the God of War and one copy of sixteen heroes of you chose in resin with all with alternate parts and forms. So you are paying $49 more (about half the cost of the original KickStarter) for twenty resins figures instead of sixty-three plastic (however I have an odd feeling that the God of War was resin in resins). While with Gold level for an extra cost of $149 (about one and a half times the cost of the original KickStarter) you replace the plastics for seven Demigods in resin with alternate parts, the God of War, one copies of the original twenty-six (might become twenty-seven) heroes in resin with all with alternate parts and forms and eight minions in resin. I am not too happy with the massive loss of figure with the massive price up compared to the originally price. Now being resin, better sculpts and with the alternate parts might be fine with most people, but I am not too help on paying more for less. I am still backing the KickStarter and supporting it, but I am just getting add-ons instead of upgrading (downgrading in numbers) my original pledge.
This KickStarter will end this coming Tuesday, let us see what they can unlock between now and then.

Next is the Cardfight Vanguard news. This month will see the release of G Title Booster 1 “Touken Ranbu –ONLINE-” on the 17th in Japanese and G Booster Set 3 “Sovereign Star Dragon” on the 10th in English. There is a Sneak Peek (pre-release) event this Sunday at Wargames Workshop MK. Places are limited and sadly I will not be going due to work.

The weapon designer of the Twilight Order from
Kingdom Death.
Now for the Journey: Wrath of Daemons news. Wave one shipping news. The transport ship for the US is on way and should arrive at dock mid-July. The ship to the EU has left and should arrive at the docks on the 22nd of July. The ship to Australia New Zealand will leave on 7th of July and arrive at the docks on 21st July. Direct mail to other locations has started and we will continue carrying boxes to the post office until mid-July. And deliveries to Hong Kong Backers should be finished by the end of today. These boxes arrive very quickly; it was one of these that arrived already.

Next is the Kingdom Death news. Everything is completed and now printing has started. There is still no true set shipment date, but it is close. They gave use a ton of CAD and drawings of up and coming future Kingdom Death releases which includes new expansions for Monster.
Also on Tusday night/Wensday Morning they updated the web store with a ton of new stuff and a couple of restocks. The new releases were Distracted, Lion Knight 1st, Mage and Percival, while the restock was Ammo Slave and Flower Witch. Sadly most of the stuff sold out very quickly so I have missed out on them. I Really would have liked to get Mage and maybe Distracted. What is left in the webstore as I post this are Percival, Ammo Slave, Apotheosis male version, Apotheosis female version, Savior and the Pinups of Death Hard Plastic Collection.

Now for the Mantic news. Shipment of wave three of DreadBall Xtreme has started this Monday. I will take them several weeks to ship everything.

Next is the Ninja Division news. News on the Super Dungeon Explore Forgotten King wave 2. With US and Canada it is through customs and should begin shipping soon if it has not already. With Asia they should have finish shipping to back. With the UK the ship is now should have arrive in port last Monday. With the EU the ship should arrive at port at the end of this week if it has not already. And with Australia the ship has arrived and Wave 2 should have arrive at their warehouse.

Now for the Thunderbirds Co-operative Board Game news. Due to quality printing will take longer and wave one shipment has been push back from late August to late September now.

Next is the Wyrd Games news. They have revealed a ton of new stuff that are coming. First off there will be a Two Player Starter coming for Malifaux with two four person crews that are Henchman led of completely new models, two Fate Decks, measuring tapes, quick-start rules and a link to download a digital copy of the rules manual. The next Malifaux expansion “Shifting Loyalties” with rules for new models and rules to play the game as a campaign. Sweet! They gave example pages of some of the new Ten Thunders stuff and they look gain. The Campaign Deck which contains all the Upgrades used in the campaign system from Shifting Loyalties. The Generalist Deck which contains the general upgrades in M2E and Crossroads. Into the Steam which is the first expansion for Through the Breach. Northern Aggression which is the next Penny Dreadful multi-part adventure for Through the Breach. Darkness Comes Rattling which is a cooperative board game that pits the players against the snake Darkness.  All of the above is scheduled (but not guaranteed) to be available in stores in August or September. We also got a piece of artwork of the Crossroads Seven. A Malifaux band/Warband that are a mix of all the factions by the sound which the new Ten Thunder, Lust, is a part of. I cannot wait until I can see an image of the figure. I am hoping that the Crossroads Seven will be sold separately as I want two copies of Lust, One to keep as it is and one to convert to have a tsugaru jamisen instead of a violin (basically Beni Ninagawa from the Wagakki Band).

Next is the Guild Ball news. This week we got a look at Smoke, the new Alchemist Captain for Season 2. They also had a major restock on their webstore.

Now for the Wild West Exodus news. They are doing a Mega Sale on their webstore this weekend ranging from 10% to 40% discount.

Next is next on Conan from Monolith Board Games LLC. The Pledge Manager should be going live on Saturday the 25th of July.

Now for the Stonehaven Miniatures news. With their Half-Orc Adventures, the vast majority of stuff have already made it to backers and the rest will soon be arriving to backers. There will be no more updates for Half-Orc Adventures as it is all done.
They also revealed that they will be doing a new project this month which I am guessing will be KickStarted. It is a game this time instead of a miniatures line or terrain. I am not saying there will not be any in it, but this will be their first GAME. It is called Stonehaven Peacekeeper’s Oath.

Next is the Crooked Dice Games news. They have posted on-line to download the beta rules for Second Edition 7TV. I only just spotted this news as I was finishing off this post, so I have not had the time to check them out yet.
