Neoscream's Gamer life: 4th to 17th July 2016

Welcome everybody to another the "Neoscream's Gamer Life" post. This is my weekly post of life and gaming. This week's Kingdom Death opening pictures is the Gold Smoke Knight.

"Blog News"

Sorry for no post last week. I have sadly had some major home Internet problems since Thursday the 7th due to problems. For more information see both the Life sections. Also sorry about being late with the post, been having problems writing the post for last week.

I have split the Life section into two, one for each week. This is because I have already written the first week's post. Also there is no "Painting and Converting" section due to the lack of space to take photos and time.

"Life: 4th to 10th of July"

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Frostgrave. We played the six scenario from the  Thaw of the Lich Lord book with five players on one 3' by 4' board. Sadly my warband only managed to only get one treasure token like normal and my Wizard Holica only gained two levels. I up her Health to seventeen which in turn up my Apprentice's Health to thirteen, plus I made Elemental Bolt easier to cast.

On Wednesday morning (UK time) Pokemon Go was finally released. However it was not released world wide like everyone hoped for. It was only released in Japan and Australia (and the USA the next day). However there was a way round it that most people (including people from the USA before it was officially released in there) were using. APK Pure is an official Android App (but not from the Play Store) that lets people download Android apps regardless of their region. Myself and a ton of friends from Wargames Workshop MK (mostly the card game players) picked it up from there and have been playing it ever since. I even created a Milton Keynes Pokemon Go group on Facebook as it would have taking over Shell's Card Circuit M.K. group. In fact there is over seventy members by the end of the week and the game is not officially out in the UK. Wow.

For these who do not know, Pokemon Go is an augmented-reality game that involves you walking around the real world and catching Pokemon within it, your phone being your lens between the two realities.

There have been some problems with the game's servers. On both Wednesday and Thursday the game went down from four hours at about 7 pm and on Friday it went down for over five hours from about 4:30/5 pm. Due to high demand by the look of things on the servers. Hopefully things will improve over time. Also there has been an awful amount of bugs in gym battles which are most likely to do with the Server problems (also Nintendo blocking UK Pokemon trainer accounts until the game is officially out in the UK does not hope ever at those gyms are locked too). Due to these problems, the official release to the rest of the world is on pause until the problems are fixed. Oh, it eats up battery power like made mad and you need internet and GPS to play the game.

Despite the server problems and gym bugs, it is a very fun game, especially if you are a fan of the original generation. Plus it gets you out and about. Hopefully with all the extra walking I have been doing because of the game I can loss weight. All the walking to and from work and eating salad buns for lunch at work instead of a large fried chicken burger, has only lost me a couple of inches and no weight.

Now back to non Pokemon Go stuff. On Thursday BT came over to move to phone port for the internet to a different wall. They did it, however they never physically moved/reconnected the hub or tested it as the line had to be left alone (unused for about twenty minutes). I had to rush back home while out playing Pokemon Go with Liam to move and reconnect the home hub. However the broadband was not working. We phoned up BT. They said that there was a fault in the line (their end) and that it could take up to forty-eight hours to clear. The next day they phoned up saying that the fault in the line was cleared and that we needed to reboot the hub again. We have reboot and reconnected it several times and we still have no Internet. They are meant to be coming Tuesday to fix it. As this blog is meant to be about last week and not this week, I will leave it there. Apart from this post "should be posting the day after I get home internet access back to my computer. This is due to I prefer to writing the Gaming News side, the teams for HeroClix, labels and pictures on computer than phone. Oh and as I could not watch YouTube or Netflix while printing, I have not done any printing sadly.

"Life: 11th to 17th of July"

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for the first game of the Star Wars Imperial
Assault campaign we are starting. Bob was playing as the Empire while myself, Ian and one other person (I am bad at remembering names) the Rebel Heroes. Ian was Jyn Odan the Sly Smuggler, I was Mak Eshka'rey the Bold Renegade Sniper and the other player was Biv Bodhrik the Vengeful Guerrilla. We played the first mission where you have to destroy the computer terminals. We just managed to do it on the last action of the last turn.

On Friday night I went to Simon's for a game of Kingdom Death Monster with Richard and Darren H. We hunted a Level one Screaming Antelope. We did consider hunting a level two Screaming Antelope, however due to time because of doing the previous lantern year's Settlement phase and the news on the attempted coup in Turkey, we decided against it. The fight was quick and easy. The Settlement event "Murder" might have cost us two Survivors, however this was not a bad thing as the Killer was retired due to a disorder and this person who got killed had the Sleeping Virus Flower. As there ended up being two Nemesis events (that is if we retaliate against the King's Hand) this Settlement phase, we decided to call it a night and do them next time we play Kingdom Death Monster.

During the weekend I have been keeping up with Pokemon Go, managing to get to level seventeen. However apart from going on a large group walk on Saturday I did not do much during the weekend as I was busy tidying my bedroom and other stuff. However the group walk on Saturday was a great time.

There were also so chaos with the Pokemon Go MK Facebook Group that really got me stressed out. I will not go into detail, just that it was mainly due to my horrible miss reading a message from Shell on Friday evening. I was in a rush trying to get my Kingdom Death Monster stuff before Richard and I was running late due a phone call.

I got back into tidying my Bedroom on Sunday. It is still a bit of a bomb site, however I managed to get rid of over a box and a half stuff and that is after transferring a ton of stuff into boxes too. I still have more work to do. Just have to remember that the floor needs to be clear before the 1st of August so my parents can store stuff in my room while we get new carpets laid throughout the house (not including my room.

Now for the Internet chaos. When the BT engineer came they worked out the problem. For some unknown reason BT had changed us from fibber line to copper line broadband even though we are still paying for. This meant our Hub was not picking it up due to the Openreach modem. He reconfigured the Home Hub setup without the Openreach modem and we had internet back again, however it was damn slow. About 1.1mb/s. BT contacted us to apologise about the mistake. They will swoop us back to fibber on Monday and will send us their newest up to date Home Hub, the Home Hub 5, as compensation for the trouble they caused. (As I was finishing this post off the post I learnt that it was not the newest one as they release a newer model earlier this month.) Due to the slowness, I decided to leave posting a post that week and make this week's post a double size one, as I did not want to deal with the poor quality connection. I later found out that the connection was not as bad as I first thought (but it was still crap). Dropbox was slowing things down as there was about a weeks worth of Pokemon Go pictures to download to the computer and Laptop.

"Thursday Night HeroClix 7th of July"

On Thursday I went down to York House for HeroClix. The scenario was "Mr and Mrs". 500 points, three Actions. The team must contain the male and female variants (i.e Hulk and She Hulk, Hawk Man and Hawk Girl etc.) or a famous comic book couple (Scot and Jean, Lois and Clark etc.). I ended up I ended up building an X-Men themed team who were:

Storm (003 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 50
Professor X (034 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 70
Nightcrawler (044 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 60
Colossus (014 Marvel X-Men Days of Future Past) 150
Shadowcat (204 Marvel Wolverine and the X-Men) 70
Wolverine (001 Marvel Wolverine and the X-Men) 100
=500 points

On the first round I was up against Robert Adams who was using a Yu-Gi-Oh team who were:

Dark Magician Girl (018 Yu-Gi-Oh Series Two) 140
Mystical Elf (044 Yu-Gi-Oh Series One) 50
Dark Magician (055 Yu-Gi-Oh Series One) 175
=365 points

They is a figure I am missing (and maybe Trap and Spells) however oddly I do not have a picture of his team (must have done Darren's team twice by mistake). I managed to win this game. Also Darren S got the bye and Michael won his game against his brother Adrian. On the second round I was up against Michael was using an Assassin themed team who were:

Lady Bullseye (029 Marvel Deadpool) 72
Bullseye (036 Marvel Deadpool) 110
Lady Deadpool (037 Marvel Deadpool) 112
Black Widow (003 Marvel Captain Ameria Civil War) 95
=397 points

Looks like I am missing something, however the photo of the team I have matches with what I have here and I cannot remember if he had any more. I won this game by white wash. Also Robert Adams got the bye and Darren S won his game against Adrian. On the third and final round I was up against Darren S who was using an A.I.M. themed team who were:

M.O.D.A.M. (049 Marvel Age of Ulton event) 131
MODOK (050 Marvel Captain America) 160
Proteus (057 Marvel Uncanny X-Men) 35
Dreadnought (204 Marvel Invincible Iron Man) 75
2x Dreadnought (006 Marvel Invincible Iron Man) 50 x 2 = 100
=501 points

Like normal against Darren S I lost. Also Adrian got the bye and Michael won his game against Robert Adams. For anyone is interested here is Adrian's team, it is a Fantastic Four team:

Storm (020 Marvel Heroclix 10th Anniversary) 98
Mr. Fantastic (101 Marvel Chaos War) 90
Joe Fixit (036 Marvel Incredible Hulk) 115
Black Panther (024 Marvel Avengers) 92
She-Hulk (007 Marvel Incredible Hulk) 105
=500 points

"Cardfight Vanguard Tournament"

On Saturday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament. I decided to stick with my Cosmic Heroes deck. Due to having an odd number of players, fifteen, one player round had to take the bye. It was the standard Cardfight Vanguard Tournament rules. Four timed rounds of best of three games followed by top four play off that are single game with no time limit. Draws are classed as a lost for both players.

On the first round I was up against a Shadow Paladin player. I managed to win this game.

On the second round I was up against Liam who was using a Gold Paladin deck. Sadly I lost this round. Afterwards we stopped for a lunch break.

On the third I was up against Jasper who was using an Oracle Think Tank deck. Sadly with one game win each and only like two minutes left we had to call it a draw.

On the forth and final round before the top four cut off I got the bye. Sadly I did not make the top four cut off. While the top four was happening, myself, Jordan, Wai-Yin and one other did a little bit of Pokemon hunting on Pokemon Go.

"Thursday Night HeroClix 14th of July"

On Thursday I went down to York House for HeroClix. The scenario was "The Unusuals". 600 points, four Actions. Only unusual 'Named' Theme Team Only! So no (plain) X-Men, (plain) Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. Justice League, Sinister Sindicate, Justice League, Bat Family etc.. allow. Teams like West Coast Avengers Fine, Secret Avengers, Justice League International and Batman Inc are all fine. I decided to go with a Marvel Knight's themed team who were:

Black Widow (001 Marvel Avengers Assemble) 110
Dagger (003 Marvel Amazing Spiderman) 45
Cloak (022 Marvel Amazing Spiderman) 55
Moon Knight (032 Marvel Amazing Spiderman) 109
Daredevil (021 Marvel Incredible Hulk) 75
Luke Cage (014 Marvel Captain America) 98 + Thunderbolts (ATA) 8 = 106
Black Cat (023 Marvel Clobberin' Time) 32
Shang-Chi (012 Marvel Avengers) 58
=590 points

On the first round I was up against Darren S and like normal against him I lost. Also Adrian won his game against his brother Michael.

On the second round I was up against Michael and I won that game.

On the third and final round I was up against Adrian who was using a Black Lanterns themed team and I somehow managed to win the game.

Sorry for the lack of information and teams lists. I oddly forgot to take pictures and I only noted down half of the results,

This week's scenario is "Ladies Night". 400 points, Female Characters Only.
