Gaming with Neoscream: 15th November 2013

Agent Natalya El
Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”. This is my weekly gaming post for miniature games, non-computer RPGs and some card games.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. The Mars Attacks KickStarter ended Sunday night and they managed to unlock or added since the last post: The 2D Card Counters were upgraded to 3D Card Counters due to line of sight problems; Limited Edition Mars Attacks Hardback Rules Compilation free with pledges of $200 or more; the human character Edwyn added to the starter set (re-unlocked); the Heroes of Greenville Multiplayer Cooperative and Solo Rules (re-unlocked); a Shrunk Ray upgrade pack to the Giant Robots with Shrunken US Troopers; one of the Novas Vira infantry will be upgraded to have a Gatling Gun heavy weapon; Intact Scenery; Dead Bodies; an alternate version of the Supreme Regent added to “The Will of Man” pledge level and above; two Giant Mutated Bugs added to the Apocalypse Bundle; an Martian Army Standard Bearer with scenario added to the pledge levels “Alien Abduction”, “Bloodshed on the Battlefield” and above; Science Division Unit Commander added to the Science Division unit; Mantic’s Wrecked Cars; KickStarter Excusive Zombie Apocalypse Scenarios and a Zombie Martian added to “The Invaders Arrive” pledge level and above; Kings of War Zombies; the Deadzone terrain sets; Science Division Heavy Weapons guy added to the Science Division Unit; the Novas Vira Sonic Disruptor; the human character Agent Natalya El would have been added to the Escalation expansion set; Kickstarter Exclusive translucent green plastic Science Division Infantry; the Martian characters The Surgeon and Wrex; the Sneaky Martian Beloss Bel; the human characters Craig and Tunga (OK Tunga is a Gorilla); Giant Mutated Spiders; and Corus’ Bounty Hunters; Agent Falco. It made $558,076 and had 2,753 backers. Stretch goal that we never did on KickStarter was Retro US Soldiers, however with PayPal backers we did manage to make it. Up had upped my pledge to included Agent Natalya El. As I post this Loka should be starting shipping to backs. That is if the e-mail problem they have been having at their warehouse does not delay it as it is delaying shipment of orders from their web store. When Loka is out of the way, they can start on shipping the first shipment for Deadzone to backers.

The Elven Frost Queen
Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of: King Hyperion and Hyperion from Marvel The Invincible Iron Man; Spider-Man, Iron Man, Namor and Captain America from Marvel Avengers vs. X-Men; Blight, Edward Nigma and The Riddler from DC Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes; Witch Doctor and the 3’ by 3’ starter set map from DOTA 2; and Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh Series One.

Now for the Elven Adventurers Box Set KickStarter news. The KickStarter ended about a day (well more like half day) since I posted last week’s post and we managed to unlock or got: An Elven Swan Magus; an empty Elven Treasure Chest; Grippli on Dragonfly Mount; Elven Skulls for the Elven Treasure Chest; a Trap for the Elven Treasure Chest; Alchemical Supplies for the Elven Treasure Chest; Gold and Gems for the Elven Treasure Chest; and an Elven Frost Queen. It made $94,165 and had 778 backers. They have meet all of their stretch goal and might have do one more if they were feeling adventurous, but they might not a design ready to use. I ended up going for: Elven Rogue, Elven Thief, Elven Sniper, Kitsune, Elven Librarian, Elven Pilot and Elven Swan Magus.

Next is the Shadows of Brimstone KickStarter news. They have managed to unlock or got during the last seven days: Void Hounds; the “Hellfire Succubi” Mission Pack; a second female variant of the Saloon Girl; a Jargono Swamp Raptor; “Murky Confrontation” Jargone Encounter pack; the “Blasted Wastes” Otherworld; Scourge Rats; and a new Hero Class Drifter. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Another male variant for the Gunslinger at $825k (so close it might be done will I am posting this); Trederran Raiders at $850k; “Fire and Brimstone” Cynder Encounter Pack at $875k; and The Undead Gunslinger at $900k.

Now for the Privateer Press news. Next Friday will see the release of issue 51 of No Quarter Magazine. We also got a preview image of a new Cryx cavalry unit called the Bane Riders, but no date of release for them.

Next is Battle Systems Sci-fi Modular Terrain. They have managed to unlock or got so far in the space of a week are: Three extra pairs of Converter kits, five extra Spot Lights and two extra 4x2 Gantry were added to the Stronghold pledge level; an extra L-gantry, an extra 8x2 Bridge, an extra 2x2 Square Gantry, an extra two sets of two different sized Railings, Three extra walls and an extra doorway will be added to the Stronghold pledge level; a Medi-bay add-on with three Medi-bed scanners, one Medi-Doc Unit and two Wall mounted Medi display; one in every five crates will become a Plasma Cargo Crate; Stronghold as an add-on; and a new add on called Hulk. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: An extra Command Screen, an extra V-console and three extra Cargo Crates added to Stronghold pledge level at $120k.

Now for the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. All the Mech cards have now been approved so they have shown off the card for the VF-1A Valkyrie Veritech. They are hoping to have approval for the Squadron and Support Cards by this week, and if they do they will post examples up.

Next is the Mechabrick news. OK the KickStarter it has just ended now. Mechabrick is a range of precision moulded plastic kits to convert your Lego minifigs into 1/144 scale fighting robots or 'mecha'. You can upgrade your mechs with weapons and accessories and then battle for supremacy in a fast-paced board game using buildings and scenery built from things like Lego. It is a great concept and the Mecha look great. But for a Mecha game I would before a more balance/complex campaign style game than this as it is aimed for over eights than teenagers and/or adults. I did back it at the £20 level which gives me one Black, one White and one KickStarter Limited Edition Orange Wakazashi mech and a KickStarter Limited Edition LRC120 “Low-Recoil Cannon”. During the KickStarter they funded the game, unlocked infantry, a KickStarter Limited Edition Red Wakazashi mech, the “BFG” heavy weapon and the “Ho-Ho-Ho” machine gun, most of which were unlocked on the last two days. Sadly there was seven weapon based stretch goal they did not make. However they still plan on doing them in the future by the sound of it. It made £20,459 and had 301 backers.

Now for the Journey: Wrath of Demons news. This was another interesting KickStarter I found I like to blog about. In the game, four Pilgrims band together to search ancient China for the Sutras, sacred scriptures that will bring salvation to a world overrun with Demons. After fighting different Bull Demon minions, the climax of the game is the battle against the Bull Demon King. It is based on the same Chinese novel Monkey and the original Dragon Ball was based off, Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en. The figures looked great. The way it is set up would be a problem listing all the stretch goals unlocked by now, so I will be listing only the ones done since Monday. There was: Soul Hunter Warrior Tang added to Collectors Upgrade; a resin female version of Tripitaka; Cleanser Zhilan add-on; and fifteen KickStarter exclusive Demon cards added to the Boxed Game Upgrade.  Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Cleaner Peng at $260k; a plastic female version of Tripitaka at $300k; resin door set added to Collectors Upgrade at 2,000 backers. I have not backed thing yet. Like Shadows of Brimstone I am worried about too many games and too much money. However I do want to get my hands on Dragon Princess Xiao Yan, Cleanser Zhilan and maybe Soul Hunter Captain Xi Fung and female version of Tripitaka.

Next is the Interface Zero news. The somewhat final version of the rile rulebook for 2.0 is done and is downloadable for backers. It is missing a couple of pieces of art and is helping proof reading side so that the final version the will go into print will be much better quality.

Lastly there is the Kingdom Death news. Dragon King is being redone as Adam was not too happy with it and it would have cost about $60k to make the mold. The new one is being Thomas David and he will be 14cm to the top of his head (not the top of his horns) which is shorter than it was originally going to be (I do not know that was the originally height). Also Pinup Architect is now sold out in the store.
