Gaming with Neoscream: 8th November 2013

The Stronghold level from the Battle System KickStarter
before stretch goals are added
Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”. This is my weekly gaming post for miniature games, non-computer RPGs and some card games. Can people find the reason AJ Lee is on this week's post as a Label? It has nothing to do with DreadBall or 7TV.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. The PDF version the rulebook for Deadzone was sent out to all backers and they look great. Having these rules will help me with writing the rules for my game, Mecha Knight. It has also been Deadzone week on the Mantic blog. They have been going over the two core factions (the Enforcers and the Plague) and showed off several unpainted production figures. With the Mars Attacks KickStarter they have managed to unlock or got during since last week’s post: The human character Edwyn added to the starter set (but might have been re-locked due to the bad week this KickStarter is having); several paint sets as pledge add-ons; two packs of three crashed cars from Antenociti Workshop as pledge add-ons; and Faction coloured dice pledge add-ons. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Wrecked Car Scenery Piece at 2,540 backers; and The Heroes of Greenville Multiplayer Cooperative and Solo Rules at $475,000 (did get unlocked but got re-locked due to the bad week this KickStarter has been having); one of the Novas Vira infantry will be upgraded to have a Gatling Gun heavy weapon at $477,500; Intact Scenery at $485,000; Dead Bodies at $490,000; an alternate version of the Supreme Regent added to “The Will of Man” pledge level and above, an Martian Army Standard Bearer with scenario added to the pledge levels “Alien Abduction”, “Bloodshed on the Battlefield” and above AND  the Giant Bug at $500,000; weapon upgrade to the truck; maybe some small animals; maybe some curvy civilians; and maybe some sneaky Martians. The KickStarter ends on Sunday. What can be unlocked or re-locked on between now and then? Sadly the last four days were terrible as they have been losing a ton of pledges and backers and today is shaping to be another bad day for them. Hopefully the weekend will be a huge boost for them than a big loss. However, I have finally decided to drop down my pledge level to the Martian DreadBall team and a pack of civilians. Please check my past posts for more details why I am doing this.

Elven Adventurers Box Set KickStarter
Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of: Sasha Hammer and two versions of Sasquatch from Marvel The Invincible Iron Man; Gandalf and Shadowfax from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers; Magneto from Marvel Avengers vs. X-Men; and Darkseid from DC Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes. Also just been Announces that WizKids/NECA has signed a European Distribution Agreement with Esdevium Games. This will mean that stores will not need to import HeroClix stuff from America anymore. This will most likely meaning UK/European prices might drop as there will be no import tax on them and sets will be release in the UK/European at or closer to the America releases than a month or more later. This is go news as we in the UK now officially have HeroClix back.

Now for the Elven Adventurers Box Set KickStarter news. They have managed to unlock or got during the last seven days: The Nomads of the Great Veldt adventuring party with Elven Pilot, Elven Raider, Undead Elf, Elven Pilot on War Heron mount and three Gremlin Looters; Artisan's tools, Elven Monk, Elven Thief and Kitsune Swordsman was added to the Strymian Thieves Guild adventuring party; a Roast Chicken dinner; an Elderberry Pie; Pitcher Bits; an Elven Patriarch; three Elven Children; an Archway; an Elven Baker; the Elven Destroyer; an Elven Grand Marshall; three Squirrels added to the League of Cyn'Thark adventuring party; a Flaming Undead Unicorn (what everyone been wanting); an Elven Grand Master on Flaming Undead Unicorn mount; a fourth Grippli which will not be added to the League of Cyn'Thark adventuring party; a fourth Pixie which will not be added to the Strymian Thieves’ Guild adventuring party; a fourth Gremlin which will not be added to the Nomads of the Great Veldt adventuring party; a Gremlin Riding an Owlbear; an Unconscious/Dead Elf; and a Swan. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: An Elven Swan Magus at $83,000. Just less than one day to go for this KickStarter to end. What can we unlock is less than a day?

Next is the Shadows of Brimstone KickStarter news. They have managed to unlock or got during the last seven days: The “Dead Man’s Bounty” gear cards; Mission Pack “Werewolves’ Don”; a second male variant of the Bandido hero class; the Void Sorcerer; a female variant of the Prospector hero class; both variants of the Doctor hero class; a faithful dog ally; and The Targa Plateau Encounter pack “Ancient Terrors”. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Void Hounds at $700,000.

Now for the Kingdom Death news. After posting last week’s post I notice that someone in the KickStarter comments that some has noticed that the new figures had character cards listed in their content. What are they? No one knows. Maybe background information about them? Maybe game rule? A mini comic script? Who knows? OK Adam and his staff but they have not said anything yet. Storm Knight after about twenty-four hours is now out of stock and later both versions of the Warriors of the Son (Female and male) and Preacher Pinup. This leaves the store with: Beyond the Wall; Chosen; Dung Beetle Knight; Experiment of Death set; Pinup Architect and Grand Mother. I received my Survivor Aya figure on Tuesday. However due to not being able to access my modelling stuff and being busy, I have not done anything with her yet.

Next is the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. Due to problems with quality control and the fact is this there first KickStarter (and by the sound of it the first wargame), the game is being pushed back. It was originally planned to be sent out in December, but now (at a guess) they are saying about February next year. Damn it, no Christmas present. At least they have worn us about the delays in a lot more advance there others and have stated that the KickStarter stuff will ship BEFORE retail, in case of the expansion stuff months before. (“Cough” Mantic “Cough”) Anyway, there was a preview image of the Telnesta-Regult as well.

Now for the Privateer Press news. The fully release dates for November have been revealed. The releases will happen on 13th, 22nd and 27th. So next week on the 13th there are three things being release. These are Idrian Skirmishers (Protectorate Idrian Ally Unit), Accretion Servitors (Convergence Solos) and Steelsoul Protector (Convergence Solo). I will most likely be picking up both Convergence releases. Also we got previews images of February 2014 releases. These were: Orsus Zoktavir the Butcher Unleashed Khador Epic Warcaster Unit,
Issyria the Sibyl of Dawn Retribution Warcaster, Iron Mother Directrix with Exponent Servitors Convergence Warcaster Unit, Transverse Enumerator Convergence Unit Attachment, Gorax Circle Light Warbeast, War Hog Minion Farrow Heavy Warbeast and Bog Trog Ambushers Minion Unit. It has also been revealed that the second Warmachine High Command expansion set “Into the Breach” will be out is February 2014 too, but the link for it currently leads to the first Hordes High Command expansion set.

Next is Battle Systems Sci-fi Modular Terrain. This is a new KickStarter that had started last Friday. It is some great affordable Sci-fi terrain that be used for most things, including Space Hulk. (OK, you cannot us it for things like Warmachine or 7th Voyage.) As it is a UK company and it is not using Amazon for payment, everything is listed in ponds (£) instead of US dollars ($). Currently I have not backed it, but I am planning on backing it at the sweet spot of Stronghold pledge level. They have managed to unlock or got so far in the space of a week are: The project itself; three extra walls, an extra doorway, an extra Clone Chamber, five extra Containers, an extra Command Screen, three extra V-consoles, an extra Transfer Conduit, two extra sets of stairs, an extra 2x5 Gantry, an extra two sets of two different sized Railings, two small floor tiles, an extra Hangar Bay Doorway and an extra Battle Table all added to the Stronghold pledge level; an extra Turbine and a Transfer Conduit added to Add-on pack 1; an extra Hangar Bay, an extra Battle Table and two small floor tiles added to Add-on pack 3; and a new Add-on pack (Add-on pack 6) with a Window Wall, an Elevator and a Wall Console converter. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Three extra pairs of Converter kits, five extra Spot Lights and two extra 4x2 Gantry will be added to the Stronghold pledge level at £86,000; an extra L-gantry, an extra 8x2 Bridge, an extra 2x2 Square Gantry and an extra two sets of two different sized Railings will be added to the Stronghold pledge level at £92,000; and a Medi-bay add-on with three Medi-bed scanners, one Medi-Doc Unit and two Wall mounted Medi display at £100,000.

The Doerian's "Big Brother"
Now for the Mekton news. This week we had an image of the Dorian's "Big Brother".

Next is the Zombicide news. A new mission has been added to their website called “Medical Mumbo Jumbo”.

Now for the Interface Zero news. There are currently suffering with delays with the main rulebook due to the Achilles Heel to all KickStarter RPGs, artwork.

Lastly there is the Crooked Dice Games news. The November news letter has arrived and it revealed that it looks December with see a MASSIVE boost to S.H.I.V.A. with fifteen new figures. These will be the remaining co-stars, some Thuggee, new Daughters of S.H.I.V.A. and the Destroyer (80mm figure).

Past Events

Me with the cards I won.
On Friday Ian from Guardians of Tyr ran a Hordes High Command release event at Wargames Workshop MK. It started 12PM and finish at closing, which is 10PM. Sadly I could not do the start as I had work, but I could do after work. When I got there, there was only Ian. He had only one person during beforehand who only played one game. Me and Ian played three games which I lost all three. No one else sadly turned up and as Ian could not win the event as he was running the event, I ended up being the Grand Champion of the event. By the sound of things most people were at a nearby fireworks party or busy with family.

Homemade Rules

OK this week we take our first steps into Mecha Knight. Let us look and the Stats list of a Pilot.

Range Attack (RA): This is the ability to show how good the pilot is at hitting a target at range.
Melee Attack (MA): This is the ability to show how good the pilot is at hitting a target in hand to hand combat.
Piloting Skill (PS): This is how good the pilot is at maneuvering the Mecha Knight and to keep it on its feet in combat.
Focus (PF): This is how good the pilot is at keeping focus on the battle field and the ability to perform multiple actions at once.
Grade: This shows how well trained and experience the pilot is. There is Rookie, Basic, Veteran, Ace and Legendary.
Race: This will state the Pilot’s race and sub race. Currently this will mean nothing but it will be more important in the future when the basics are done.
Skills: Special abilities the pilot has.

More might come at a later date like Command. But there is no real plans for them yet Next week I will be ever doing Milton Keynes HeroClix house rule or the stats from the Mecha Knights or both.

Until next time, Armour Up.
