Neoscream's Painting Table: 29th of July 2017

Hi everyone and welcome to another blog post. Ok, not much to talk about in life so here is a bit of personal Warhammer 40,000 news.

Last weekend, a new FAQ for 8th edition Warhammer 40k was released. In it, they have finally made T'au Shield Drones useful again as they now have a 5+ save against wounds. Hippy, I can use them again.

For those who are interested here is a list of all the T'au stuff I currently own.

  • One Ethereal. (An old conversion using Games Workshop bit).
  • Two Commanders.
  • One Cadre Fireblade (not official miniature) which could be pushed to two if I use the nude sniper.
  • Commander Shadowsun (not official miniature) with no Command drone.
  • Four nine man Strike Teams. I just need a couple of extra figures to make it ten man teams.
  • Two fifteen man Kroot Carnivores teams.
  • Six Kroot Hounds.
  • Two Kroot Shaper.
  • Two three man XV25 Stealth Battlesuit teams with one figure extra.
  • Three three man XV8 Crisis Battlesuit teams with one figure extra. Can be used as XV8 Crisis Bodyguards.
  • An XV104 Riptide Battlesuit.
  • Two MV84 Shielded Missile Drones.
  • Two eight man Pathfinder Teams. Might be able to push to three six man team.
  • An MV31 Pulse Accelerator Drone.
  • An MV33 Grav-inhibitor Drone.
  • Two MB3 Recon Drones.
  • A TY7 Devilfish.
  • Twelve MV1 Gun Drones.
  • Seven MV4 Shield Drones.
  • An MV7 Marker Drones.
  • An XV88 Broadside Battlesuit.
  • Something like five Big Gun Drones which are useless without the Forge World Xenos Index.
I do plan on building another Ethereal based on an idea I have thanks to Gundam Seed and all of Macross. A pop princess. Nothing to with the new deck I have for Cardfight Vanguard. The basic idea is to find a female singer figure with a long skirt that covers the feet so I do not need to replace the feet and has a fringe that covers the forehead (but I could always green stuff a fringe).

Painting

This week I have managed to finish off: A Sorcerer's Cabinet with a Book (ok these were meant to be in last week’s post, but I forgot to put them in the photo), a Bookcase, the Cleric Hero, Blaine and the spar Necromancer from Dungeon Saga; Three Ruins from Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings (however, as it is a second copy of the ones I did last week painted in the same way, I will not be doing photos of these); a female Storm Giant (painted to be a Frost Giant for Frostgrave) from Reaper Miniatures Bones; rebasing and updating of my Commander Heavyarms for my T'au army; and Chaser from Wargame Exclusive which will be used as a Cadre Fireblade for my T'au army.

Dungeon Saga (oops the bookcase was upside down)

T'au

Frost Giant

I forgot to state last week that I had removed to Shield Generator from Commander Wing Zero and added a magnet to the arm. This will allow me to add an extra weapon to Wing Zero based on what I need. I have also done the to the right thruster of Commander Heavyarms too.

I have also been working on (not painting) some T'au stuff I bought from eBay like a Riptide Battlesuit. I am currently painting Trista and Astrid from Reaper Miniatures Bones; Scooper from Sphere Wars; the 2015 Salute figure; and Tinkerbell from Tale Of War Miniatures.

For the backlog, I have for you all two Warmachine figures. These are the Trenchers Officer and Sniper for Cygnar. I have converted the Sniper to be a blue haired female Sniper. My standard for most snipers.

Well, that is finally it for the backlog. All officially done now.

Gaming

Cardfight Vanguard Tournament

On Saturday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a Cardfight Vanguard Tournament. There was sixteen of us. Some new faces and some returning. I had brought the new Bermuda Triangle Chouchou deck and a couple of boosters of the new Bermuda Triangle set. I was treated to try out the new deck, but I decided to use the deck I was first thinking of using. Exxtreme Battler Nova Grapplers.

On the first round, I was up against Nana who was also using an Exxtreme Battler Nova Grappler deck. It was a close game, but I managed to win.

On the second round, I was up against Pete who was using a Shadow Paladin. Sadly I lost this round.

We stopped for lunch and I managed to get a game of Future Card Buddyfight with Bredon. I was using my Quartet Five Hero World deck while Bredon was using a Chaos Dragon World deck. I sadly lost the game. We did try to do a second game. However, we ran out of time. Sadly it looked like I was winning.

On the third round, I was up against Wai-Yin who was using our beloved Touken Ranby. Damn it, I wanted to use my Blaster Royal Paladin deck against her. She managed to win this round. After the game, we chatted and managed to fix things between us. So we are friends again. She is just VERY BAD at communication and has some major problems.

On the four and the final round, before the top eight playoffs, I was up against Sadie who was using Dark Irregulars. I managed to win this game.

Sadly I did not make it to the top eight playoffs. However, this was due to the strength of schedule. Pete ended up winning the tournament. Maybe due to no Shell as she was away.

During the top eight playoffs. I teamed up with Wai-Yin in a duos match against Jordan and Alex. I was using my new Bermuda Triangle deck (borrowing some Bermuda Triangle Strides from Jordan), Wai-Yin was using an upgraded Pale Moon deck, Alex was using a Granblue deck and Jordan was using a Tachikaze deck. We managed to win against them. I still need to get used to how the deck works more and improve it beyond the Trail Deck. Sadly that means dropping the Cute stand trigger "Chouchou, Namig". WTF! One of my decks without stand triggers.

Malifaux

On Monday I went down to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Malifaux. I was playing against the local main man for Malifaux (who is a Henchman for Wyrd Games), David Brown. He was trying out a new crew (for him) lead by Brewmaster. We decided to use the Gaining Grounds 2017 Schemes and Strategies deck. The strategy was "Guard the Stash" and the Schemes I picked were "Eliminate The Leadership" and "Frame For Murder". I might have the wrong name for the second Scheme as I do not own the card and could only find a list of names with very little rules without buying and downloading the cards, which I might do next week. I decided to go with Misaki. For those who do not know, I am a Ten Thunders player. My team ended up being:

Misaki with Stalking Bisento and Recalled Training
Shang
Ototo with Call of Thunder and Recalled Training
Samurai with Favour of Jigoku
Katanaka Sniper
Oiran
Two Torakage

It was a good and somewhat close game. However, David won with ten victory points to my seven. There was a funny moment when David took control of Ototo for an action and had him kill my Oiran which I stupidly had too far in the face that she was the target of "Frame For Murder". It was a good fun game. I can not wait for Simon to move back to Milton Keynes and join in with Malifaux and other games.

HeroClix

On Thursday I went down to York House for some games of HeroClix. This week's we continued the 'Teenage Kicks' scenario. 400 points. It is time to find the most Kickass Teenage Supergroup. Six teams enter the arena in a battle to find the ultimate champions. All players will play each team at least once. Darren S supplied the teams and the teams are Runaways, Young Avengers, New Mutants, Teen Titans, Ravagers and Initiative. The image next to this is of the team lists. Last week I played as Young Avengers, Ravagers and Teen Titans, so that leaves the other three teams for this week.

On the first round, I was up against Adrian. I ended up with the New Mutants team while Adrian ended up being the Young Avengers team. Sadly I lost, but I did give the young Avengers a run for their money. Also, Darren won his game against Michael.

On the second round, I was up against Michael. I ended up with the New Mutants team while Michael ended up being the Teen Titans team. Due to the problem of randomising teams, I had to use a team I have already used. Due to this, this round was a friendly game. I managed to win this round despite rolling four critical misses. Also, Adrian won his game against Darren (by cheating).

On the third and final round, I was up against Darren. I ended up with the Initiative team while Darren ended up being the Runaways team. Like normal against Darren I lost. Also, Adrian won his game against his brother Michael.

As I still need to play Runaways and Michael still needs to use Teen Titans (officially), this will be continuing next week. Or at least for the first round. However, we do have an overall winner and an overall loser already in teams as well as an overall winner player. Young Avengers is the best team, Ravagers are the worst team and Darren is the best player (as always).

Future Games
  • On Monday the 31st of July, I will be going to Wargames Workshop MK for a game of Kingdom Death Monster.
  • On Thursday the 3rd of August, I should be going to York House for some games of HeroClix.
