Gaming with Neoscream: 18th October 2013

Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”, the all new weekly gaming post that replace’s the “MK HeroClix”, the “Model Painting” and the “7TV Listings” posts as well gaming news and events that use to be in my “Neoscream’s Life” posts. Due to problems with the KickStarter list (which use to be on the right hand side of the blog) I have been having, I have decided to drop it and added the major KickStarters that I follow to the Links list.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. When I got to Wargames Workshop MK on Friday last week I found that they have the DreadBall Ultimate box set in since Tuesday. WTF. Mantic stated that they would ship store and pre-order stuff after KickStarters, however I still had not gotten my shipment yet by then. On the next day Mantic revealed yet another major problem that is delaying shipment that they NEVER stated until now, which they should have known about the problem about a month ago. Due to a great demanded on the three new MVPs, Gabe and the Season Three second wave stuff that have not hit stores yet (Alternate sculpts, prone tokens and Keeper) from the third survey, they found that they did not have enough. These figures have been remoulded in metal now so they can cast them on site (apart from Gabe who was metal in the first place). My major problem (other than most of the stuff arriving to stores first while KickStarters SHOULD have been first) with Mantic at the moment (which is making me really rethink about backing Mars Attacks) is that the card/token problem for Ultimate and the shortage of these figures would have been notices when they started shipping late last month, if not well before hand in the case of the figures, but they NEVER told us strait away. They SAY that it should finish shipping this week and that they will post to say everything has been sent. However, the way things are going I would like to bet that on Saturday they will reveal yet another problem (maybe not enough season three teams or not enough boxes to pack the stuff in or something they should have known before they started shipping). As this is posted I have not YET received the final shipment and Mantic has not posted to say everything has been sent ever. OK it might have arrived on Thursday, however my mum was of work that day and it ships to her work place. If it had arrived or arrives on Friday I will do a special blog post during the weekend. This Mantic started revealing all the new stuff the Elves will get in King of War. First were the character The Green Lady, her friends Keris and Shaarlyot and the redone Stormwind Cavalry. Keris and Shaarlyot are a point of the revamped Mantic Points store which I forgot to talk about last week (as well as the all new look site). Mantic Points store also includes all the excursive DreadBall coaches and MVPs and several of the old Kings of War characters it use to have. With the Mars Attacks KickStarter they have managed to unlock on the second week: Martian Saucer with Heat Rays Core Add-ons, seven more Martian Grunts (including one commander and two with Freeze Ray) added to the starter set (the four extra to the pledge levels last week was a mistake, they were add to the starter); a five man Martian Marine unit with commander and special weapon core add-on; the human characters Deke, Phil and Troy added to the starter set; the Martian Dredd core add-on; a US Trooper with Rocket Launcher added to the starter set and units; a five man Stealth Martian unit with commander and special weapon core add-on; a pack of five scared Civilians core add-on; the Patriot Silverback DX500 Flatbed Truck core add-ons; the game expansion set Mars Attacks Escalation; improvements to the card and cover artwork improvements and two extra cards added to the Exclusive Topps Trading Cards add-on; Command Saucer upgrades add to all Saucers; a bonus Kickstarter Exclusive Martian General Tor figure in alternate pose to everyone who has pledged at The Front Line level and up before Sunday 27th October; and the human character Esteban Ramirez will come with the Escalation expansion if you buy it with credit. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Joe as an Alternate Saucer Pilot core add-on at 2,250 backers; Wrecked Car Scenery Piece at 2,540 backers; Sidewalk Slaughter Suburban Accessory Set, Waste Disposal Suburban Accessory Set from Antenociti’s Workshop as Pledge add-ons (not available with credit) at $435,000; Giant Robots at maybe $500,000; one more character added to the starter set; more Giant Bugs; new scenery types; weapon upgrade to the truck; and maybe a Martian DreadBall team. I have drop the pledge, from Early Bird 5 to Early Bird 2. The Mars Attacks Escalation expansion pack at first included a brand new rulebook with more scenarios and unit types, more ruined scenery, three additional mats, six Science Division Grunts, six Novas Vira Militia, Martian Attack Saucer and a Patriot Silverback DX500 Truck, but this will be increased from future stretch goals. Monday night and most of Tuesday things came to a halt for some reason, in fact the Pledge amount drop by a couple of hundred. There must have been something wrong like the Amazon payment system not working.

Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of Assimilation Target Prime from Star Trek Tactics III; Altem Sentinel and Wolfhawk from Mage Knight Resurrection; the duo figure of Absorbing Man and Titania from Marvel The Invincible Iron Man; Black Mask and Black Mask Thug from DC Batman Arkham Origins; and Galadhrim Elven Soldier and Haldir from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers. As of last Friday, Star Trek Tactics III is now at. On personal news I won a bid for the chase figure Hulklops (a Hulk version of Cyclops) on eBay. Got him for about £10, but sadly he does not come with his card.

Now for the Privateer Press news. Preview of the stuff out January 2014 have been revealed. These are Bane Thralls Cryx Unit, Houseguard Riflemen Retribution Unit, Houseguard Thane Retribution Solo, Eradicators Convergence Unit, Elimination Servitors Convergence Solos, Raluk Moorclaw the Ironmonger Mercenary/Minion Trollkin Character Solo and the Hordes High Command: Savage Guardians Expansion Set. Wednesday next week will see the release of Ghordson Earthbreaker Mercenary Rhulic Colossal, Steelhead Halberdiers Mercenary Unit and Fennblade Kithkar Trollblood Trollkin Solo.

Next is the Crooked Dice Games news. They have restocks of the For Ghouls and Colleges 7ombieTV book and the cards that go with it. Plus they have also added the physical copy of 7th Voyage supplement Myths and Monsters and the fourth set of Future Freedom Fighters are now available in their store too.

Now for the Interface Zero news. There is an Equipment Chapter preview up on the KickStarter update page. For some reason I cannot view it so I cannot really say anything yet.

Next is the Kingdom Death news. There is an interview with the creator of Kingdom Death over here. It is reveal there is a lot more great figures in the works other than the KickStarter stuff. My favourite just by name is Before the Wall which is a precursor to Beyond the Wall. There are a couple of preview images of Nightmare Ram.

Now for the Elven Adventurers Box Set news. This is a new KickStarter from Stonehaven Miniatures to make a bunch of elf adventure figures like they have done with Dwarfs and Gnomes in the past. My favourites are currently Elf Sniper and Kitsune. Elf Thrift is great too but is an odd one. The concept art seemed dark and moody while the sculpt is young, cute and a bit too skinny (sound like the Geek Goddess AJ). I am currently backing at the Pick and Chose level, planning to get Elf Sniper. They have managed to unlock during the first four days: Elf Librarian and Enting added to the Keepers of Everwood Adventuring Party; the Luthwaine's Caravan Adventuring Party with Elf Sniper, Elven Foot Soldier, Elven Longsword, Elven Fate-Weaver, Elven Bard, Elven Illusionist and a musical instrument; the Completionist level; and Elven Scout. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: For every $1,000 which started at $36,000 there will be a musical instrument added to Luthwaine's Caravan adventuring party (there will be eight musical instruments in total); Elven Sorcerer at $37,500; Elven Necromancer at $42,500; and Kitsune at 500 backers. Looks like Elven Scout, Elven Sorcerer, Elven Necromancer and Kitsune will be a part of some kind of shadow party.

Next is the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. The rulebook and stat cards are all laid out and going through final proofreading. Also all minor tweaks to sculpts are just about done. They has released a 3D rendered image of all modes of the YF-4 and it is looking great.

Lastly, the results of the Hasslefree Sculpting Competition 2012 are finally here. The winner of the Fantasy Category was Griselda the Stern by Tom Emmett and the runner up was Bridget by Alessio Cisbani. Never voted for ever, but both were good figures. The winner of the Modern Category (if you could call it modern) was Majest by Steve Shaw and the runner up was Whisper by Cindy Dukino. I never voted on Majest as she felt like she was in the wrong category. She would fit a Past/History category better if there was one. Whisper felt more like she should have been in the Fantasy category, however there was something about this figure I like and I ended up voting for it.  Lastly the winner of the Sci-Fi Category was Steampunk Gina by Jack Sutter and the runner up was Cyberbelle Suzi by Rebecca Eley. Steampunk Gina was a great looking figure and was a close contented. Cyberbelle Suzi was a nice figure that was ruined by the gas mask. From what I understand standard (due to changes to the rules) the winners will get resin figure of their winning entry and a £50 vouchers for the Hasslefree Miniatures store. The runner ups will get a resin figure of their winning entry and a £25 vouchers for the Hasslefree Miniatures store. Everyone who entered (including the winners and runner ups) will get one set of all the winning and runner ups figures (one set per person, not per entry) in metal and metal versions of any of their figures that have been chosen for production. Starting from next week I plan on adding Hasslefree Miniatures on the news section as standard thing then just talking about the competition.

Past Events

Mars Attacks KickStarter
On Friday last week I went to the Horde High Command Demo at Wargames Workshop MK. Sadly due to numbers some people had to use Warmachine High Command decks. It ended up being people who have played Warmachine High Command in the past use Hordes High Command and people new to High Command used Warmachine High Command. Sadly there was only time for one game and as there was seven of us, we split into two multi player games. I was up against the three new players, two of which are Adrian and Michael who I know from HeroClix. I was using Circle and I did crap. It was my worst result ever in High Command. I think I might stick with Warmachine side of things. It was Adrian who won in our group.

Next week if something happens on Monday I will I will post it here.

Future Events

·         On Mondays at Wargames Workshop MK is Wargaming night.
·         On Tuesdays at Wargames Workshop MK it is Card games night (or is it just Magic the Gathering).

·         On Saturday the 20th of October, Guardians of Tyr will be running a Steam Roller Warmachine/Hoards tournament at Wargames Workshop Northampton. I have decided to include Guardians of Tyr’s Northampton games in the events list.

·         On Saturday the 2nd of November, Guardians of Tyr will be running a Star Wars X-Wing tournament at Wargames Workshop MK. I will not be going to this as I do not play X-Wing.
·         On Saturday the 16th of November, Guardians of Tyr will be running a Steam Roller Warmachine/Hoards tournament at Wargames Workshop MK. As I am on holiday then I will most likely be going to it.

York House has a £3 on the day gaming fee and a £5 fee for a year’s membership. However the first day is free and they only take yearly membership fee at the start of the year. The Hall officially opens at 7PM, but normally people start arrived 15 to 20 minutes early.

Wargames Workshop MK has a £2 gaming fee or £4 with a pack of Magic the Gathering cards unless it is a paid tournament run by Guardians of Tyr. Weekday events normally start “playing” at 7PM.

For rules for Guardians of Tyr tournaments and leagues as well as information on pre paying your place in tournament (highly recommended) please go to their website which there is a link to their site under my links to the right hand side of this blog.

Painting and Converting

This week I have done Neclaw, a Zombie Abomination, a Zombie Fatty, a Zombie Runner, a Zombie Walker and an Exemplar Cinerator.

This week's figures front view
This week's figures rear view
This week's Zombicide
This week's Warmachine
This week's 7TV (Neclaw)

Next week I should be doing the final Exemplar Cinerator, the seventh Robot Striker, the seventh Robot Guard, two Female Corporation players, Neclaw and two Uman Alliance Soldiers.

Armies

This week's 7TV listing will be the re-listing of my James Bond team.

In the future I plan on adding Q, Felix Leiter, Miss Moneypenny and M. I have now complete re-listing team. OK I have background to do with a bunch of teams, but I can sort them out ever when I post new ratings or at a later date. So this section MIGHT not appear next week.

Homemade Rules

This week I have the X-Guard extras for 7TV, Alliance Soldiers. There are currwntly the Uman and Dwarf versions, but more might appear in the future. The Uman Alliance Soldiers are basically the Soldier extra. However they have the Armour special effect instead of the Military Training one to represent the Bio-Armour they wear. The Dwarf Alliance Soldiers of the same as the Uman Alliance Soldiers, but with some extra differences. Their Movement is reduced to 4 so that the Strength could be increased to 4. Plus the Corporal can be equipped with a Hand Weapon (4+) at a cost of 2 ratings.

Until next time, Armour Up.
