Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”, the all new weekly gaming post that replace’s the “MK HeroClix”, the “Model Painting” and the “7TV Listings” posts as well gaming news and events that use to be in my “Neoscream’s Life” posts.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. On Saturday I found out why I am still waiting for my DreadBall KickStarter. There was a major delay with the cards for Ultimate. Backers that did not get them were sent off and first while they were waiting for the cards. Shipment of the stuff with cards have began to ship, but it is still a pain that the all their season three stuff (apart from the Ultimate box set) has been out in Wargames Workshop since Tuesday last week. As this post is posted I still have not received my third shipment. Well anyways, the Mars Attacks KickStarter broke a new record by meeting the main funding goal of $50,000 in just fourteen and a half minutes. I like the way they thought this KickStarter out and it is a BIG difference to other KickStarters. The major to backer levels are "Will of Man" ($100) for the core game and $50 of extras of your choice of CORE add-ons (plus an extra human character new) or The Invasion Arrives ($150) for the core game and $125 of extras of your choice of CORE add-ons (plus an extra human character new). This means you can customise what you get, but please note if it is NOT a core add-on you will have to up you pledge as the credit does not cover non-core add-ons. I decided to go for "The Invasion Arrives" (at Early Bird 6 so it will be $145 instead of $150) and plan on getting tons of terrain. In also a week they managed to unlock: There are now eight sculpts for each of the two main grunt types instead of four; the human characters Ashley and Eve was added to the Starter Set; the Core Expansion One core add-on which has a deluxe gaming mat, four exclusive Topps Mars Attacks trading cards and the human character Don Manning; both grunts units have gained a Commander (includes the starter set ones); Urban Accessories has been added to all Boxed Games and Ruined Scenery Deluxe Pack core add-on; the “Attack From Space” (or is it “Attack from Mar”) core add-on with the characters Buck Spencer, Xiuhcoatl, General Zar and Sidney Rose riding Henry the Giant Flea; four more Martians have been added to "Will of Man" level and above; comic book based add-ons (note not a core add-on); and 3D Burning Cattle tokens core add-on. Stretch goal that were left as I start to post this were: Martian Saucer with Heat Rays Add-on at $250,000; pack of basic Civilians at 2000 backers and a special 3D token for special event cards for every 500 backers after that; Martian with Freeze Ray added to the starter set; Martian Marine unit core add-on; the human character Deke added to the starter set; Martian Dredd; US Trooper with Rocket Launcher added to the starter set; Stealth Martian unit core add-on; anti Martian (or at least Saucer) human artillery vehicle; Giant robots; and more Giant Bugs. Due to some unknown reason, I cannot save changes to the KickStarter links on the right hand side of the blog. So here is the link to the Mars Attacks KickStarter.

Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of the IRW Avatar of Tomed from Star Trek Tactics III; Bonebreaker Shaman and Solonavi Domineer from Mage Knight Resurrection; Crossbones from Marvel The Invincible Iron Man; Firefly from DC Batman Arkham Origins; and Uruk-Hai and Uruk-Hai Berserker from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers. Two new Marvel sets were revealed for next year, Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy. Also the next organised play that will follow Marvel Avengers verses X-Men, DC War of Light.

Now for the Zombicide news. A new mission was added to their site called Zombie Factory.

Next is the Kingdom Death news. I received my figures now. They look fantastic. The head sculpt on Beyond the Wall as just wow. The scary think about Savior Pinup Morgan is that she is the only miniature I see or own this have camel toe. There are plans to make several videos to help people play like an explanation play thru of the games tutorial and a few other drilling down into the more technical and mechanical aspects of the game. There are also plans putting together a searchable online Addendum which will include bizarre user scenarios and how to resolve them. I spotted the other day that a plastic version of Survivor Aya unlocked in the KickStarter with extra gear (and I think head too) that are compatible with the armour kits, in game rules for them and a Challenge Scenario. There was no information if this was a KickStarter exclusive or not, so I massage Adam, the Creator of the Kingdom Death universe. Aya, also known as Survivor (Female) is one of my favourite figures from Kingdom Death (without that skull helmet) and sadly I do not own the figure. I would love to be able to get it and use it in the game. Adam reply very quickly as he was online posting in the KickStarter comments as I was writing the message. By the sound of it he is not sure yet if he will be doing general releasing things like the plastic Aya with game stuff. I am guessing it will be determined by how well the game sells. Oh and there are some interesting images of 3D sculpts from a sculptor who does some of the figures from Kingdom Death (Beyond the Wall is one of his work) that have the Kingdom Death logo on them. Are these of up and coming figures (that were not funded by KickStarter) or figures Adam discarded. These are 3Dkd_04 to 06, 09, 12 and 13. 3Dkd_06 is my favourite which I have included on the post, seems very ninja like. Here is a link to the 3D sculptor who did them, Hector Moran. The pictures are there.

The all new Guru
Now for the Crooked Dice Games news. Preview images of the masters of the brand new Guru and Kali figures have been revealed and both look great. Due to minor changes needed to be done to them they will be out next month and they might be joined with some cultists.

Next is the Mekton news. The mech section is about to be layout soon for the book. This is just a decision to do first, group by Class or Side.

Lastly there is the Interface Zero news. There has been an update on KickStarter. The book is currently at over 300 pages, much bigger than it was originally. However the creator has couple of problems. Both the Gollemmech and skill specialisations are not truly ready for release yet. What might happen is that the Gollemmechs will be cutting down to just a couple of mechs and basic rules and skill specialisations will be removed from the main rule book. The full final versions will be most likely be released in some kind of Compendium book.

Past Events

Friday last week was the Warmachine High Command release event at Wargames Workshop MK that was ran by Guardians of Tyr. There were ten players.  Sadly we only got time for two main games due to people needing to go and one four way game. I lost both games sadly, the last one being just by one victory point. I gained nine Command Points, which meant I won two cards which was “Thyra, Flame of Sorrow” and a second which I need to get today. On the four way game I ever won it or draw at first place with Ian, as we both had 27 victory points (however I had three locations while he had two). It was great fun. During the event I used Cygnar, Protectorates of Menoth and Cryx. Cryx was fun to play with in multiplayer as they have as you can rush a ton out to all locations in the late game. (Later rule the rule book and found that I won the four way game).

Saturday was the final DreadBall Tournament from Guardians of Tyr for 2013. There were fourteen players, the biggest turnout all year. I was using my standard Robot team. I spent my 20mc on an offensive Coaching Staff (AJ) and two Coaching Dice. This tournament was a league tournament which was using the Season Two league rules. On the first round I was up against Peter Melvin. He was using a Season One Corporation team. It was a close game but Peter won it in the last action of the last round with a three point score that had a fifty percent chance of success (one dice need 4+ which he rolled a 4). My number two scored two four pointers which meant he level up to Rank Two. As he was in Striker mode most of the match, I decided to roll on the Season One Striker table and ended up with +1 Skill. Also number one gained Man of the Match, when it did next to nothing all match surviving a massive blow. In the second round I was up against Aron Britchford. He was using a Marauder team. Number two did me proud as he scored two four pointers in Jack mode, which won me the game by a landslide. My first ever landslide win. SWEET. Number three gained Man of the Match, again he did nothing in the match. The third round I was up against Stephen Fase. He was using a Marauder team. It was another close match, but I managed to win this match. Number two went up another Rank marking it Rank Three and gain Misdirect. Also Number three got Man of the Match again, which led to it gain a rank. As it was in Guard mode in the match I decided to roll on the Guard table and got Can't Feel a Thing. After the third round the top four players moved onto the semi finals while the other continues playing normally. Shock Horror, I was one of the top four. OMG. So in the semi finals I was up against Jon Burrows. He was using a Season Two Corporation team. Sadly I lost by a landslide and also lost Number four. After that there was the third place play off. I was up against Mark Wright, who was using a Season One Corporation team. I managed to win the match getting third place in the tournament and second place in the 2013 DreadBall Championship. I might not have won any prizes in DreadBall, but I am doing well. Leon Chapman won the tournament while Rob Taylor won the Championship.

Next week I will be talking about the Horde High Command Demo that will happen later on today and maybe whatever happens on Monday (hoping to run a demo or two of 7TV at Wargames Workshop MK).

Painting and Converting

This week I have done another Robot Guard, the final two Robot Jacks (13 and 14), Rico Van Dien, K-9 and Commander Strax.

This week's figures front view
This week's figures rear view. Not as good as last weeks LOL.
This week's DreadBall Figures
This week's Doctor Who figures

Next week I should be doing Neclaw and four Zombies.

Armies

This week's 7TV listing will be the 300 rating version of my Doctor Who team. The doctor is back with companions and allies throughout time. Rose, Clara, K-9 and Commander Strax have joined the mix match crew.

Opps, that should have be Signature Weapon (Pistol) on Strax. In the future I plan on adding Vastra and Jenny first and then maybe Sarah Jane. Next week I will be relisting my James Bond team.

Homemade Rules

This week instead of rules, I like to talk about some personal games stuff. Long term followers of my blog might remember the MS Wars game I was a designing a long time ago or the Shōnen anime game I was thinking of doing that I might have mentioned. Well I have not stopped thinking about them, just never gotten round to do anything about them. With MS Wars, I want to see Deadzone rulebook and cards first before doing any work on it. I had always wanted to have a card element to the game, but I always had problems with them in the couple of trial games I had ran with friends. However, games like 7TV, DreadBall, Deadzone and Mars Attacks seem to be able to pull them off fine. I also plan on keeping to just the Mechs and avoid Infantry and tanks. Also the whole settlement system from Kingdom Death has given me ideas too for the campaign side of the game. With the Shōnen anime game, the basic plan is to use the Action:Engine system from Crooked Dice Games as the core of the game. Just need to really design archetypes and new Special Effects based on some of the major Shōnen shows like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach and Dragon Ball. I really need to talk about this on the Crooked Dice Games forums to get some advice from the other members. Out of the two the Shōnen anime game would be the hardest to do due to a lot of the powers and heavy leveling up the main characters do during the show. Shadow Clones and Super Saiyan are at less two of the powers that would be hard to balance.

Until next time, Armour Up.
