Gaming with Neoscream: 1st February 2014

Mars Attacks Civilians
Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”. This is my weekly gaming post for miniature games, non-computer RPGs and some card games.  Sorry about this week’s post being later than normal, the major news about shipment for RoboTech RPG Tactics and the Zombicide news delayed it going up Friday morning and then play Zombicide at Wargame Workshop MK and major Deadzone news delayed it until Saturday.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. The Galactic Tour Series: Azure Forest set is now out.
Deadzone Enforcer Peace Keepers
The Mars Attacks KickStarter survey is now up and several sets have been expanded. All Novas Vira packs now come with a Sonic Disruptor; five Corus' Bounty Hunters have been added to the Tiger Corps pack; a Shrink Ray and five Shrunken Soldiers have been added to each Robot; and the Surgeon and Wrex have been added to the Science Division pack. Also there is a third rule book to pick up called "Points Battle". This rule book adds rules for playing self built teams instead of predetermined teams. Looks like I be getting a Tiger Corps pack now. We also got to see several figures we have not seen yet like the Civilians.
Mantic Digital is now online. It is not an app as I first thought (but DreadBall Playbook will be). It is a PDF store for Mantic's. Currently there are only the DreadBall rules on it. This includes The Galactic Tour Series: Azure Forest rule book and the DreadBall Compendium. DreadBall Compendium contains the rules from all three seasons plus The Galactic Tour Series: Azure Forest (and maybe Gabe) in one place (sadly I do not know if this is a PDF or an app). If you buy it you also get the PDFs of all four books and the app DreadBall Playbook when it is released. It is £24.99, but DreadBall backers will get a 20% discount (making it £19.99).
This look awesome. I Now have to get Asterians
While I was at Wargames Workshop MK playing Zombicide Friday evening, I received a major update regarding the Deadzone KickStarter. The second shipment survey is now up, a ton of images of figures we have not seen yet like the Enforcer Peacekeepers and there is a bunch of changes that have been done. The Asterians and Forge Fathers will now be Resin Plastic instead of hard plastic. The Strider will now be Resin Plastic instead of Resin due to great demand, you will receive two instead of one and they can be built either a Corporation, or Plague or a Rebs versions. You can get Individual Sorak on the KickStarter and a new Sorak Swordspawn. Other new things include Enforcer with Thermal Rifle/Fusion Gun, Plague Enforcer, Marauder Commando Upgrade Pack (Helmeted heads, BFGs and special combat weapons), Asterian Pulse Bombard (Weapons Drone upgrade), Forge Father Jotunn Urban Demolisher and a new Scenery Sprue. And lastly the Compendium is being split into three books, however if you have brought the Compendium you will receive all three books. Looks like I will be getting some Striders and Sorak now.

Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of: Gates from DC Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes; Berserk Gorilla from Yu-Gi-Oh Series One; Destiny (after a very long time we finally get a new version of her), Sprite and Ariel from Marvel X-Men Days of Future Past; and Bizarro, Cheetah, Black Manta, Solomon Grundy and Giganta from DC Legion of Doom Fast Forces pack.

Now for the Crooked Dice Games news. Tomorrow should see the release of the four new Federated Security Troopers which includes a new Heavy trooper and maybe their February deal of the month.

The Regults with a prototype/demo Valkyrie
Next is the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. Images of the 3D printed prototypes for the production version of the Regults, have been revealed. There are some details missing which they are still working on.
As I was about to start posting this post Friday morning, I received a major update regarding the KickStarter. Due to some major delays, it will be split into two shipments. The first shipment will ship sometime during May/June and contains the main box game, the UEDF Valkyries Wing, the UEDF Destroid Pack, the UEDF Spertan Pack, the Zentraedi Regult Battlepod Squad, the Zentraedi Artillery Battlepods, the Zentraedi Glaug Command Pack and maybe the Battle Foam Carrying Case. This includes backer level stuff that are in these packs. The main box set should start arriving to stores in July. The second shipment should ship around September/October time and will contain everything that was not in the first shipment like the Monster and characters. This is a pain as all this stuff were meant to have started shipping about two months ago and then was push back to the first quarter of the year.

Now for the Kingdom Death news. There was an update posted on Saturday showing off several more hard plastic figures, some fantastic artwork and the sculpt for the Dragon King. Also their was a heads up on what is going on. The next two months will be super busy for them. Because of this the will not be reopening the plague manager until after that. When that happens only KickStarter backers can modify their orders sadly and they will not be able to add or remove resin figures. Dam it, I was hoping to add a couple of the expansions and some bases. Never mind. There was nothing new added to the store, so there is just Dung Beetle Knight and Pinup Great Game Hunter left in the store.

Next is the Privateer Press news. According to the latest KickStarter update, 99% of the physical rewards are really so they should hopefully be no delays for the March shipment date for the physical stuff. The only problem I can see are the Retribution and  Mercenaries Journeyman Warcasters in High Command game play as their factions will not have been done by then. As there is a get track from the computer game on the update called "Forged in Fire" and it is done by Inyoung Whangi.
The Convergence wrecked Vector tokens will also be joined by Retribution wrecked Warjack tokens too. They are still not on the site by they are in the latest No Quarter magazine and both should be out some time in February.

Now for the Journey: Wrath of Demons news. In their latest update on KickStarter, they were showing off the Kickstarter Exclusive Dice and the Daemon cards.

Next is the Mekton news. The artwork delays are mostly due to the book being full coloured instead of just black and white which was the original plan. Because of this some they have hired some extra artists.

Now for the Warlord Games news. Yes I have decided to make it a company news post than just a game one. They have been posting some fantastic previous of their Dad's Army set for Bolt Action. There will be two versions of each character, one soldier and one civilian. They are up for pre-orders now for £40. I Was plan on buying them until I saw the price tag.
This week they showed off the 3D images for the Algoryn from Beyond the Gates of Antares. They are looking great and out of the two sides revealed so far they are my favourite. But I sure there was meant to be a Robotic force!
They have just released a rule book for a new game called "Wild West Chronicles". This is a skirmish game set in the wild west and it does have an experience system too. I always like games with a campaign based experience system to them.

Next is the Shadows of Brimstone KickStarter news. There were pre-views of the 3D images for Night Terror and Void Hounds, more map tiles and artwork in a updated on KickStarter this week.

Lastly there is the Zombicide news. They have redone the Map editing contest. Instead of getting Kyoko (who is available from the game night packs now) you get a new character called Audrey the bookworm. And instead of just choosing from the survivor version or zombivor version, you will get both. A real push to get that map I had been designing finished.
Also there is now a new mission up on there website called "Defend the Mall - Save the Babe".

Past Events

On Monday I had a couple of games of Warmachine. We were testing ideas for the next Warmachine tournament at Wargames Workshop MK in March. It will be 25 points, maximum of one solo, maximum of one unit, maximum of one attachment and unlimited numbers of Warjacks. Perfect for Convergence. Sadly I last both games, but I am liking my choices for the force. I just have to now buy something for it which I was using something else as it. But I have until March the 15th to buy it and glued it all together (with some magnets for options in the future). Due to the fact that this force will most likely be used in March's tournament I will not be listing what I used.

On Friday night I manage to get in a game of Zombicide at Wargames Workshop MK, There was me, Bob, Rob Ian and two new players. We played the demo mission from Prison Outbreak and manage to win without taking any wounds.
