Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”. This is my
weekly gaming post for miniature games, RPGs, some card games and computer
games. And what a whooper of a post we have this week. This is most likely the BIGGEST post ever as it was a whopping eleven pages on MS Word before adding pictures here.
Gaming News
First off is the Mantic news. The DreadBall Xtreme
KickStarter has now finished. Let us have re-look at some of the key levels at
the end of the last post:
Fury - The starter
set which now includes four more free agents alt sculpts and two prone tokens
for each team; PDF of the main rule book; the digital Short Story Compilation;
and a Kickstarter Exclusive Cover art print. All for $75.
Rage - Everything
from Fury level; the KickStarter Exclusive Ardia Shi’lek sponsor figure; an
extra set of the five original free agents; an extra set of the Convicts team
now including alt sculpts and two prone tokens; an extra set of the Asterian
Kalyshi Team now including alt sculpts and two prone tokens; the MVPs Brickbat,
Deadman Davitz, Kailasa and Asylum; one extra team of your choose; and the PDF
versions of the Season Four and Season Five rule books. All for $100.
Rampage – Everything
from Rage level apart from the extra team of your choose; Xtreme Xpansions
which now comes with the Players Manual, four extra sponsors, PDF copy of both
rule books, the Giant Chovar, the Forge Father Giant Iron Ancestor, the Sphyr
Giant Sann-gar and multi-player rules; a set of the Plague Mutants team; a set
of the Mechanites Robot team; the MVPs Brute Force, Lyra the Fixer, Crypt,
Galdo, the Excavator and Schnorkel the Avenger; a Season Five team of you
choose; a pack of two Decal Sheets (one black, one white); and a Season Six
team of you choose. All for $150.
And Frenzy -
everything in Rampage apart from you do
not get any teams of you choose; the Speedball 2 MVP Weiss; Acrylic Counters,
an extra set of the Plague team; an extra set of the Mechanites Robot team; the
physical versions of the Season Four and Season Five rule books; two sets of
the Crystallans team; two sets of the Reb team; two sets of the Brokkr team;
two sets of the Sphyr team; a rubber-backed Deluxe original Dreadball Pitch; a
set of six exclusive silver six sided dice with red detail; the second Galactic
Tour Series set “DreadBall Challenge Cup” which includes four new MVPs (Blitz
the Great Drake, Eko’o, Hexan the Witch of Visvera and Alo-Khan); an Xtreme
Medibot; two sets of the Koris team; and two sets of the Hobgoblin team. All
for $350-385.
Deadzone Enforcer Peacekeeper with Defender Shield |
The goals it manage to unlock during the last
weekend were: A Kickstarter Exclusive Rush Tracker Cheerleader was added to
Rage level and above; the Tsudoshan team; the Koris MVP Kryphos added to
Rampage level and above; the Ada-Lorana team; a Judge Dredd ref, a pack of
three Cheerleaders, a pack of three Extreme Fan, the second Penny Arcade MVP
Tycho Brahe, the Season One to Three Boosters sets, a DreadBall Xtreme coin,
the Dark Challenge MVP Creed (Luck Logan’s evil twin), Species 525 MVP Slalaran
Vesh, completest sets of Season Four, Five and Six for Ramage backers as
add-ons; the Sponsor Eclipse was added to Frenzy level; an extra set of the new
free agents and rules for the Furon Arenas were added to Rage Level and above;
the Season six rule book which the PDF will be added to Rage and Rampage level
while a Physical copy will be added to Frenzy level; the Furon Arena MVP Grak added to Frenzy level; alt sculpts
and prone tokens were added to both the Mechanites and the Plague Mutants
teams; and alt sculpts for all the Season Five and Six teams.
Sadly the stretch goals that were not made were: The
psycho ref bot MVP Bad Call would have been added to Rampage level and above at
2,540 backers (what the original DreadBall KickStarter did); the Ada-Lorena MVP
Phantasm would have been added to Rampage and above at $590k; the Tsudochan MVP
M’Zei Kein and the Twined MVPs Gemini would have been added to Rampage and
above at $600k; and a KickStarter Exclusive eight page match day program from
the infamous game between the Trontek 29ers and the Greemoon Smackers with
rules to recreate this titanic historic game added to Rampage at $728,986 (what
the original DreadBall KickStarter did). However these stretch goals will
continue through PayPal and the survey with two others. The first being prone
tokens for all the Season Five and Six teams and the second being a fourth
giant being added to Xtreme Xpansions.
DreadBall Xtreme managed to ma
ke $575,755 with 2,482
backers over the course of the KickStarter. It had It was Mantic’s third most
profitable KickStarter with only Deadzone and the original DreadBall betting it
and their fourth most back with only Deadzone, the original DreadBall and Mars
Attacks betting it. To be brutally honest apart from the first day which made
the Kickstart a success, it did terrible compared to other KickStarters I have
back, especially as there was no end of KickStarter rush. They had to add five
of the teams and the Season Five and Six alt sculpts themselves.
Deadzone The Black Talon specialist |
Now with that over I will go into what I am
getting/planning on getting. I am at Early Bird One Rampages ($140), I plan on
getting the physical couples of the Season rule books ($30), a second set of
Mechanites or the Season four completest ($15/$25), the Xtreme Medibot ($5), a
pack of the new Cheerleaders ($10), a pack of the Extreme Fan ($10), maybe the
rubber-backed Deluxe original Dreadball Pitch ($20), maybe the Galactic Tour
Series set “DreadBall Challenge Cup” ($25), maybe the MVPs that are not in
Ramapage ($40 all together), maybe the Sponsor Eclipse ($5), the Crystallan
team as my Season Five team, the Ada-Lorana team as my Season Six team, maybe
the Rebs team ($15/$25) and most likely four more Brute Forces (£20). Here is
the revised Rampage level to all the stuff I am getting from it:
Mars Attacks Giant Spider Mutated |
The starter set
(an eight man Convict team, an eight woman Asterian Kalyshi Team, two Convict
prone tokens, two Asterian Kalyshi prone tokens, two Sponsors, nine free agents
and all the bits to play the game); the digital Short Story Compilation; a
Kickstarter Exclusive Cover art print; the KickStarter Exclusive Ardia Shi’lek
sponsor figure; an extra set of all nine free agents; an extra set of eight
Convicts and two prone tokens; an extra set of eight Asterian Kalyshis and two
prone tokens; the MVPs Brickbat, Deadman Davitz, Kailasa Asylum, Brute Force,
Lyra the Fixer, Crypt, Galdo, the Excavator and Schnorkel the Avenger; Xtreme
Xpansions (new rules, all the bits, four extra sponsors, the Giant Chovar, the
Forge Father Giant Iron Ancestor and the Sphyr Giant Sann-gar); a set of eight
Plague Mutants and two prone tokens; a set of eight Mechanites and two prone
tokens; a Season Five team of you choose; a pack of two Decal Sheets; a Season
Six team of you choose; a Kickstarter Exclusive Rush Tracker Cheerleader; and
PDF copy of all the rules.
Mars Attacks Stealth Martians |
The next Mantic Open Day is the 17th of
May. Sadly it looks like I will not be going to it due to the next Steam Roller
tournament at Wargames Workshop MK is happening on the same day.
On the Kings of War news, the next two months will
see new releases for their Dwarf and Abyssal Dwarf armies. There should be a
big update on their blog today which I will report on next week.
On the Mars Attacks news (just in), we got a CAD
image of the Giant Mutated Spider and an image of painted Stealth Martians.
On the Deadzone news, there has been a ton of changes
done to want people are getting. On the Enforces side of things, Defender
Shields have been added to the onto the Peacekeepers Hard Plastic frame free of
charge. With the Asterians Mantic are going back to the original plans by keeping
them in Resin Plastic as Hard Plastic was not working for them. Due to concept
problems they had to dump the Drone Swarm and replaced these with a Cypher with
the new Force Rifle. And they rebalanced the Asterian Faction Booster Bundle,
dropping the basic Cypher with Flux Rifle, and replacing it with a specialist
Black Talon instead. On the Forge Fathers side of things, the Forge Guard will
be in hard plastic, however because of this the Booster Bundle will not come
with a Forge Guard with Missile Launcher. Instead they are throwing in a
complete hard plastic Forge Guard sprue that will let you build the Forge Father
with Heat Cannon or Hailstorm Autocannon, the Forge Guard with missile
launcher, two additional Forge Guard with Hailstorm Rifles and a Forge Guard
Huscarl. They were images of most of these new figure.
Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was
previews of: Harpie Lady, the spell Monster Reborn and the trap Mirror Force
from Yu-Gi-Oh Series One; and Nightcrawler and Sentinel Alpha 3 from Marvel
X-Men Days of Future Past.
Also section four “Character References” the
Player’s Guide was updated to include sets up DC Superman and the Legion of
Superheroes. They will also be updating section three “Character
Clarifications” soon as well.
HCRealm's unit section now has all of the DC
Superman and the Legion of Superheroes figures listed and a large bunch of
Yu-Gi-Oh Series One figures to. OK this my be old news.
Also this week on personal news I managed to trade a
bunch of my Marvel Invincible Iron Man for a Marvel Fear Itself Colossus. My
first Marvel Fear Itself figure.
Now for the Cool Mini or Not news. The Arcadia Quest
KickStarter has now finished. Let us look at what the main level “Guildmaster”
at the end of the last post contains: the
main box game which now includes eight more monster cards, two more attack dice
and three more defence dice; the Kickstarter exclusive “The Nameless” Campaign
box set; and the Guildmaster box set.
The Guildmaster box set contained the following the
last time I posted: The Kickstarter
exclusive heroes Sonja, Montoya, Koba, Hitch, Viktor, Pluck, Morgan, Black
Newt, Bob the Conjurer and Prince Aaron; a pack of thirty plastic gold coins; a
pack of twenty plastic wound counters; a pack of special Guild Dice; a pack of
sixteen plastic Guild Tokens; a pack of twenty-four plastic Death Tokens; and
Kickstarter exclusive hero versions of Nameless, Heartless, Lord Fang, Lydia
and Lilith.
The goals it manage to unlock during the last
weekend were: four more Kickstarter exclusive heroes of Monkey King, Monkey
Queen, King of Thieves and Queen of Beggars were added to the Guildmaster box
set; two War Paint level exclusive add-ons which are the Beyond the Grave
expansion campaign with Elysia painted and all your stretch goal heroes plus
optional heroes (not including Elysia) painted; Kickstarter exclusive hero
versions of Bowie and Sting (Goblin and Orc) were added to the Guildmaster box
set; and two Kickstarter exclusive Chooloo (Cthulhu) figures in both Hero and
Monster colours with a Hero Card (which all heroes come with) and four Monster
Cards were added to the Guildmaster box set.
They decided to make Chooloo as the final goal at
$700k. This is most likely due to the fact that they had ran out of figures
already sculpted (there are currently no sculpted for Monkey King, Monkey
Queen, Pigsy and Chooloo) and any more might have coursed delays. Arcadia Quest
managed to make $774,222 with 4,885 backers over the course of the KickStarter.
There are (or were) a limited number of Guildmaster sets available via PalPay.
Oh and we got to see War Paint quality paint jobs on a large bunch of the
figures from the main box set.
I am at Guidemaster level plus the Beyond the Grave
expansion campaign, optional heroes and the Goldilocks pack. I do not think I
will be adding anything extra during the survy appear from possible a Chooloo
or two for friends. Here is the revised Guildmaster box set to see all the stuff
in it now:
The Kickstarter
exclusive heroes Sonja, Montoya, Koba, Hitch, Viktor, Pluck, Morgan, Black
Newt, Bob the Conjurer, Prince Aaron, Monkey King, Monkey Queen, King of
Thieves and Queen of Beggars; a pack of thirty plastic gold coins; a pack of twenty
plastic wound counters; a pack of special Guild Dice; a pack of sixteen plastic
Guild Tokens; a pack of twenty-four plastic Death Tokens; the Kickstarter
exclusive monster Chooloo; and Kickstarter exclusive hero versions of Nameless,
Heartless, Lord Fang, Lydia, Lilith, Bowie, Sting and Chooloo.
In Zombicide news this week, two new mission were posted. They are called “Brotherly Love” and "Beans, Bullets and Band-Aids". There was also news on an error on the
ID cards of the Season Two wave two Kickstarter promos and the Moustache pack.
They are missing the numbers on the experience tracker. However as the grid is
still there, they WILL NOT be replacing the cards. If players want the numbers
on their cards they recommend to painting out the fixed ID cards from their
site. NEWS JUST IN (as I was posting this) Season Two KickStarter backers will receive $10 credit for add-on in the Season Three KickStarter which will start sometime in the second quarter of 2014.
Next is the Warlord Games news. Rules for Dinosaurs
have been added to the Judge Dredd game and rules for Warplanes were added to
Bolt Action.
Now for news of a new KickStarter I back this week
that will end tomorrow, Guild Ball. Here is the background of the game: “Guild Ball takes place in a land now known
as the Empire of Free Cities; it’s essentially a pseudo-historical setting with
strong European flavours. The lands of the empire are made up of a huge variety
of climates, cultures and landscapes each controlled by a sovereign City.
Mob football is
a game generally played between neighbouring towns and villages on feast days
(hence the popularity). The game was originally played in the middle of towns
and villages where the objective was to take the ball to the opposing side of
town. But to prevent the inevitable collateral damage it rapidly evolved into
being played in the surrounding countryside, often in a special field set aside
for the purpose. At its core, players on opposing teams, clash and struggle to
control leather wrapped inflated pig's bladder and attempt to kick it into the
opponent’s goal. Over the years, rudimentary leagues and tournaments have
sprung up, there have even been some national level games between city states.
The Guilds have
taken advantage of the huge popularity of the sport and have invested vast sums
of money, creating professional teams and structured leagues. The public went
crazy as the game was elevated to new heights of spectacle. Guild Ball was born
amidst a blaze of interest and publicity and with it, a whole new business and
revenue stream for the Guilds. Games are now played out in front of vast crowds
of fans, whilst behind the scenes the results can mean fortunes are won or lost
on the kick of a ball.”
Throughout the KickStarter so far they have
unlocked: Funded the game; an additional Fisherman Guild character called Jac
as an add-on; replaced the generic goal with guild pacific goal in team sets;
the Union members Snakeskin, Rage, Decimate, Fangtooth, Mist, Gutter,
Blackheart and Coin; one free Union member to Guild War team you order; the
Brewers Guild; the Union member Minx (not available as a freebie with teams);
the Alchamists Guild; an additional Brewer Guild character Stoker as an add-on;
rules for a Unions Guild team; an additional Butcher Guild character called
Meathook as an add-on; an additional Mortician Guild character called Casket as
an add-on; the Union member(s) Avarisse and Greede (comes into play as one
player bout can split in mid game).
The stretch goal that were was still going as I post
this was: An additional Mason Guild character called Shovel as an add-on at
£95k; and the Union members Hemlocke at £100k. However these can change.
Next is the Journey: Wrath of Demons news. This week
we got images of the sculpt for the Bullserker figure.
Due to delays the KickStarter will be split into two
shipments now. The first shipment which contains at least the core game will
now ship sometime in the third quarter of 2014 instead of July and the second
shipment with everything that was not in the first shipment will ship in the
fourth quarter of 2014. Yet another KickStarter delayed.
Now for the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. This week
they explained why the kits are coming in some many parts. It is due to having
so much detail in hard plastic.
Emergency Response Team 5 |
Next is the Privateer Press news. They have revealed
the first of the High Command campaign expansion. It is called “Invasion of
Sul” and it is for Warmachine. It will add a ton of new Winds of War and
Location cards as well as a bunch cards to customise your decks, but this is
less than most expansions. Still no sign of any of the missing Faction.
Now for the Mekton news. They have posted a preview
of the first backer made Mekton Squads, “Emergency Response Team 5”. In was
designed by Andreas Bodensohn. They are a team of globetrotting rescuers and
disaster control experts, ERT-5 is a perfect example of a Mekton Zero campaign
that is not based around a combat or warfare scenario.
Next is the Crooked Dice Games news. Two new items
have been added to their store. The first being a Hovercraft from Ainsty
Castings and a second is a sprue of four hand held Time Lift Security Pistols.
Now for the Elven Adventurers Box Set KickStarter
news. This week we got another bunch of greens. These were Elven Swan Magus,
Elven Patriarch, Elven Pilot on foot, a wolf animal companion, an Elven Kid and
two more Gremlin Looters.
Next is the Wyrd Miniatures news. If you have read
the "Neoscream's Life" post I did this week you would already know I
picked up the Hired Swords Malifaux box set. Now will I take on the game I have
not decided yet, but I really like the look of these figures (with a slight
modification to one). However I have decided to add Wyrd Miniatures to the news
section. I try to post real news next week as by the look of things the main
site was down yesterday and today when I was writing this (or it could have
been the site not liking my phone).
Lastly for the Super Dungeon Explore news. OK this
might have happened before hand and I had not noticed but Soda Pop Miniatures
are no longer releasing the game through Cool or Not Mini. They have changed to
Ninja Division. On top of this they have started a new KickStarter this week
which I only found today (one of the reasons this is being posted Friday night
instead of Friday morning). It is funding a new stand-alone box set which comes
with updated Classic rules and a new Arcade Mode of play. Currently there is
only one backer level, Always Super. OK let us look at this level at the start
of the KickStarter:
Always Super – The new
Super Dungeon Explore The Forgotten King box set; updated Decks for the
original and the two expansion packs; the Hero Brave-Mode Candy; and the
Mistmourn Cost Warband.
The goals it managed to unlock during the first week
were: Six pet models were added to the box game; the Hero Tabbybrook Mage as an
add-on; the pet Never-Lost Cola for Brave-Mode Candy was added to Always Super
level; the Hero Deeproot Wolf Rider as an added-on; a bunch of new units and a new
Spawning point were added to the Mistmourn Cost Warband was added to Always
Super level; the Hero Twilight Knight (yes Kingdom Death) as an add-on; the
Hero Royal Warden was added to Always Super level; a pack of twelve Slime Creep
models as an add-on; and the Hero Wandering Minstrel was added to Always Super.
The stretch goals that were still
going as I post this were: A pack of twelve plastic Potion counters added to
Always Super at $325k.
I am currently only backing this at
$1 so I can get the updates. Due to backing two big KickStarters, waiting for
the bills for two Mantic surveys, Salute next month and the fact that my mates
(apart from Roxi and Bob) will NOT play the game, I will most likely not be
backing in, but I will be supporting it. If you can back for only add-ons I
might git for a updated deck and the Hero Twilight Knight.
Past Events
On Saturday I went to Wargames Workshop MK for the
first Steam Roller (Warmachine and Hordes) tournament were of the year.
Eighteen players turned up for the tournament including myself. The tournament
rules were: 25 points, one list, maximum of one unit, maximum of one solo and
all Warjacks are classed as characters. Highest Convergence player will win a
Convergence pendent.
In the first round I was up against a carvery Menoth
force, with a Vessel of Judgment. Sadly I lost this game.
In the second round I was up against another Menoth
force, this time with a Judicator. Sadly I lost this game.
In the third round I was up against Paul who was
using a Troll force. I knew Paul from ages ago back when I use to play Games
Workshop games. Sadly I lost this game.
In the fourth round I was up against a Cygnar force
with Stormwall. Sadly I lost this game.
As there was a clear winner after four round the
tournament ended a round early. I was the highest Convergence player in the
tournament so I won the Convergence pendent. However I was again the lowest
place player in the tournament so I also won the wooden spoon again. That is
right, I was the only Convergence player.
So of us stayed on to play a friendly game. I was up
against Barrie who was using a Redemption force. And again sadly I lost this
game.
The next Steam Roller tournament at Wargames
Workshop MK will be the 17th of May. It will be a standard 35 points, two
lists.
On Thursday I went down to York House to play some
games of HeroClix. The Scenario
this week was “Pimps and Hoes”. You can find it is the HeroClix Scenarios page
at the top of the blog, just under the logo. I was using an Avengers team. You
can see all the teams in the Armies section of this post.
In the first round I was up against Adrian who was
using an Avengers themed team. I manage to take out Dr. Strange, but sadly he
took out more of my team than I did of his by time. So I lost. Also Darren S
won his game against Michael.
In the second round I was up against Michael who was
using an X-Men themed team. It was impossible to take out Phoenix and
Wolverine. This lead to my lost. Also Darren S won his game against Adrian.
In the third and final round I was up against Darren
S who was using another Avengers themed team. Like normal I lost against Darren
S, but he did have to put a lot of effort into it. It was all due to a stealthy
Thor who could see through stealth. Also Adrian won his game against his
brother Michael.
Over all Darren S won and I lost all three games. What
a crappy week of gaming for me this week. Face Palm.
For those who are wanting to know, the other games
happening at York House were Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40,000, Mansion of
Madness, Dystopian Wars. I think there might have been a couple of other games
being played in other rooms.

House Rules
During the week I had come up with an idea of some
rules for a DreadBall League and decided to post them.
At the start of
the league choose one player on your team, that player gains one standard
advancement and one coaching advancement, making them Rank 3. That player is
known as a TVP (Team Valuable Player). Due to the league sponsors wanting to
protect the star players of their league, the reviving cost of TVPs are halved
rounded down. A team that kills a TVP gains an extra dice of revenue.
It basically stemmed from thoughts of homebrewed
MVPs. If I remember hearing right, players of old Blood Bowl leagues can return
as Star players of new leagues.
Until next time, Keep Rolling.
