Gaming with Neoscream: 10th January 2014

Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”. This is my weekly gaming post for miniature games, non-computer RPGs and some card games.

Gaming News

First off is the Mantic news. A new DreadBall expansion is coming at the end of the month called Galactic Tour Series: Azure Forest. This is the first non KickStarter item for DreadBall. It comes with a thirty-two page rulebook, fourteen DreadBall cards for games in the Azure Forest, a metal MVP A’teo Adysi and a metal Azure Forest Trophy. The Rulebook should also come with rules for the backer MVP and new Cheerleader actions. There will be a limited physical copy release (3000 copies I think) and it is currently up for pre-order on their web store. Also Mantic has posted pre-orders the Season Three booster packs and several bundle deals for all the standard release MVPs which including the three Backer MVPs, Dozer and the three generic coaches.

Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was previews of: Universo from DC Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes; Kazejin from Yu-Gi-Oh Series One; and Nimrod from Marvel X-Men Days of Future Past.
The winners of round the third final round of the 2013 DC HeroClix Fan Vote is Etrigan the Demon. The winner of will made into a HeroClix figure for a DC set later this year.
It has been revealed this week that DC War of Light set will a event play booster set like Marvel Fear Itself. Damn it this was a DC set I was planning on buying.
Due to my course being extended, it will be mid to late February that I will be getting back into playing HeroClix in a weekly bases.

Now for the Privateer Press news. Opps, I missed the release dates of the January releases last week. The Cryx Mechanithralls unit, the Convergence Elimination Servitors solos and the Mercenary Minion Trollkin Character Solo “Raluk Moorclaw, the Ironmonger” were all released on Wednesday. Also on the 22nd the Cryx Bane Thralls unit, the Retribution Houseguard Riflemen unit, the Retribution Houseguard Thane solo, the Convergence Eradicators unit, the Hordes High Command expansion set “Savage Guardians” and issue 52 of No Quarter magazine.
Also Images of the missing Convergence Vectors, a Skorne Character Heavy Warbeast called Despoiler, a Legion Blight Nyss Spawning Vessel and Bane Riders. They are all planned for an April release as well as the Convergence Warcaster Father Lucant, The Warmachine High Command expansion set "Heroes and Legends" and the board game "Zombies Keep Out".

Next is the Crooked Dice Games news. The site problems last week seem too had been my end as when I could access it again the forums had been used during the time. The five new ARC Moonbase Crew members are now out. They are £3.25 each or £15 for all five. Also this month’s deal is that you can get six ARC Astronauts for £10 when purchased with the Moonbase Crew Deal. They have also given a plan for the next couple of months. Ever later this month or next month they should be releasing the first of their new Starter Sets. On February there should three more FedSec Troopers, a FedSec Heavy Weapon and maybe more Starter Set. In March there should be four more Beat models and more Starter Sets. In April there should be three more Time Lost figures and they should we hopefully launch a new licensed product with maybe 8 miniatures to start with. Is this Blake 7 or something else? They also planned (these are not necessarily in the right order and maybe subject to change/cancellation): Vlad's Army: PDF (and maybe print) Vampire and Home Guard supplement for 7ombieTV; Tales of the Unexplained: Long talked about magical supplement for 7TV; at least one resin vehicle and maybe a big resin monster; the cast of SHIVA finished off in metal and some Department X started; and 7TV supplement based on the aforementioned licensed product.

Now for the Interface Zero news. The final version of the 2.0 main rulebook is out now and is available to buy as a PDF from DTRPG and RPGNOW.

Last there is the RoboTech RPG Tactics news. They still cannot give a rough date, however we did get photos of the prototypes for the Gluuhaug-Regult (Light Artillery Battlepod), the Serauhaug-Regult (Heavy Artillery Battlepod), the experimental Telnesta-Regult (Heavy Particle Beam Battlepod) the standard Queadluun-Rau Female Power Armour and the experimental Queadluun-Gult wielding the optional Z-CR Mk.II Beam Rifle.

Past Events

On Friday at Wargames Workshop MK I ran a game of Zombicide. I chose to do the first mission from the campaign “Three Little Wishes” called “Wish for Freedom”. We had seven players including the brothers Adrian and Michael (who were not at HeroClix the day before), Rob Tylor, Ian and two others. All apart from Adrian survived unwounded. Adrain’s survivor got left behind and killed by a mob of Zombies.

On Monday I got a couple more demo games of Deadzone with Rob and Bob. It is obvious that the demo, due to the small size of the board, is in the Plagues favour. Next Monday we (or at least me and Rob) should be getting in some games of DreadBall in before the Tournament on the following Sunday and then the following Monday if things go to plan, we should be having some REAL Deadzone games.

Future Events

Wargames Workshop MK has a £2 gaming fee or £4 with a pack of Magic the Gathering cards unless it is a paid tournament run by Guardians of Tyr. Weekday events normally start “playing” at 7PM. There are plays for Bolt Action tournaments as well, however there are no dates at the moment.
