Welcome to a news packed MK HeroClix. First off is the HeroClix news for the week. This week there were previews of Martinex from the Marvel: Galactic Guardians main set; Beta Ray Bill from the Marvel: Galactic Guardians - Annihilators Fast Forces; and Loki from the Marvel: Avengers Movies set. Finally the new Player's and Tournament Guides are up now. The only major changes other than including all the new stuff (Superman, Lord of the Rings, Incredible Hulk and Star Trek: Tactics) are that Stealth based team abilities like Batman Allies do not state "(Even tho they do not have Stealth.)" and from the 1st of July all released before Brightest will no long be legal in Modern Age games (major tournaments mainly. These guides reviled the Avengers Initiative team ability (basicly Ultimates) and that there will be another Street Fighter sets (before the big revile at GAMA Trade Show), as well as adding twelve new additional team abilities (six for Superman and six for Incredible Hulk). At the GAMA Trade Show reviled a ton of new HeroClix stuff. Here is a list of HeroClix news copied:
New Marvel news:
Avengers Movies will be 22 figures in Gravity Feed boosters and 18 figures in team packs (three figure ready-to-play teams all marks as super rares). There will be a starter set and a Marquee figure. A Brick of the set will have 24 single figure boosters and 4 team packs. (The team park has re-sparked my interest of getting a brick).
The character Death had been confirmed in Galactic Guardians.
Chaos War will be a 60 figure set. Available in boosters, fast forces, Gravity Feed, and will have a single figure Marquee figure. Confirmed figures for the set are Chaos King and Loki.
Marvel Heroclix 10th Anniversery will be a 24 figure Gravity Feed set. 12 figures with both modern and classic versions linked by "Battlefield Promotion" special ability. Confirmed figures for this set are Classic Thor, Worldbreaker Hulk and Grey Hulk. (Noooooo, not more beeping Hulks.)
New DC news:
Batman Dark Knight Rises will be 30 figure Gravity Feed set. Contains characters from all three Christopher Nolan films. Marquee figure timed to release with new movie. Confirmed figures for the set are Batman, Ra's al Ghul, Scarecrow, Two Face, Joker and Gordon.
Justice League is a 22 figure Gravity Feed set and will have a Fast Forces set as well. Key themes are Justice League and Justice League Dark. Confirmed figures for this set are Superman, Wonder Woman, Madam Zanadu, Hawkman, Cyborg and Flash.
DC Heroclix 10th Anniversery will be a 24 figure Gravity Feed set. 12 figures with both modern and classic versions linked by "Battlefield Promotion" special ability. Only confimed figure for this set is Superman.
Batman will be a 50+ figure set. Available in boosters, fast forces, Gravity Feed and wjghdill have a single figure Marquee fig. Set will introduce vehicles. First set in the No Man's Land event. Confirmed figures for this set are Batman, Batmobile, Harley Quinn, Big Barda, Alfred, Catwoman and Batgirl.
Batman No Man's Land is a six month organized play event which will replace Infinity Gauntlet. Will have competitive prizes, and participation items will be items from Batman's utility belt. The only confirmed figure for this set is a Joker/Harley Quinn duo (Sweet).
Batman Streets of Gotham is a 40+ figure set available in Gravity Feed and team packs. Sub themes include Birds of Prey, Outsiders, and a team never seen in HeroClix before. The only confirmed figure for the set is Killer Croc.
Other new HeroClix news:
The Hobbit HeroClix will be a 30+ new figure set available as a Gravity Feed and starter. Like with Lord of the Rings it is 100% compatible with HeroClix.
Street Fighter will be available as a Gravity Feed and starter again. New characters to collect. (Sweet, here is hoping for at least for a Sakura and maybe a Ibuki will be in the set.)
I do like Batman, he is my favourite DC superhero, but this is little over the top with three sets named after him and and the next six month event is based on him. Also just lately we have been getting tons of Captain Americas and Hulks. Where is the Iron Man love, there is more reason for half a dozen of him as he has several dozen different armours.
This week game was Land of the Giants. 600 point, four actions, everybody must have a least one character with the giant symbol. Due to time I rushed together a three man team:
Thor and Loki (057 Hammer of Thor) 362
Ragnarok Surtur (201 Hammer of Thor) 233
=595 points and no re-rolls.
On the first round I was up against Adrian. He was using a Legion of Superheroes themed team who were:
Young Superman (007 Legion of Superheroes) 100
Supergirl (010 Superman) 200
Dawnstar (022 Crisis) 60
Colossal Boy (003 Giants) 115
Brainiac 5 (020 Unleashed) 52
Cosmic Boy (003 Legion of Superheroes) 70
=597 points and four re-rolls.
I ended up losting this game. Supergirl and Dawnstar were a pain. Hypersonic is too powerful. On the second round I was up against Michael. He was using a Scientist themed team who were:
Doctor Destiny (040 Arkham Asylum) 99
Chief (036 Crisis) 63
Rip Hunter (021 Crisis) 97
Blue Beetle (030 Crisis) 65
Dr. Alchemy (025 Justice League) 62
Giganta (005 Giant) 108
Dr. Mid-Night (023 Collateral Damage) 43
The Atom (222 Cosmic Justice) 50
=587 points and two re-rolls.
I ended up losting this game. Skeletor, sorry I mean Doctor Destiny is nasty with his none feedback Mind Control that is being supported by three Perplexers and two Probability Controllers. However is was close it points. On round third and final I was up against Darren S. He was using a Guardians of the Galaxy themed team who was:
Groot (049 Web of Spider-Man) 152 + Guardians of the Galaxy (ATA) 4 = 156
Star-Lord (025 Hammer of Thor) 90 + Guardians of the Galaxy (ATA) 4 = 94
Rocket Raccoon (028 Hammer of Thor) 65 + Guardians of the Galaxy (ATA) 4 = 69
Phyla-Vell (042 Hammer of Thor) 138 + Guardians of the Galaxy (ATA) 4 = 142
Yondu (048 Avengers) 53 + Guardians of the Galaxy (ATA) 4 = 57
Aleta (043 Supernova) 51 + Guardians of the Galaxy (ATA) 4 = 55
=573 points and four re-rolls.
I ended up losting this game as well. Groot is really nasty, especially on clicks seven and eight. Also I really like Star-Lord's special that gives him +2 to attack if he his targeting one character or +2 damage if he is targeting more than one character. Over all my team did badly. Everyone targeted Thor and Loki, and Ragnarok Surtur's 10 attack was too low for his cost which meant he could not support Thor and Loki as he kept on missing his targets.
Next week as the brothers are not around should be a huge Avengers vs Skrulls. 2,500 points (dropped from 3,000 points as Darren was being a bit over zealous), ten actions split into two five action phases, Darren will be Skrulls and I will be Avengers. The week after that should be Civil War. Bring two 500 points teams. One team must have a Captain America and the other must have an Iron Man. You can not have the same charter in both teams. Marvel only.
Now for this week's DreamClix section. This week I am doing ideas for the pilot card of Amuro Ray from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, a Tank from Code Geass, Colonel Silver from Dragon Ball and Sōken Ishida from Bleach. But first I have five designs of generic Cyborg from Battle Angel Alita and Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, the Wild Card team ability, MS-06C Zaku II Command Type from original Mobile Suit Gundam, the M.S. team ability, Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tail and the Fairy Tail team ability.
Next is the pilot card of Amuro Ray from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Amuro Ray is the main protagonist of show and a major character in its sequels, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Char's Counterattack. He is the benchmark of all Gundam pilots that came after him, being most famously known for piloting the powerful RX-78-2 Gundam during the Universal Century's One Year War. Amuro has a certain knack for mechanics, including building a talking ball shaped robot named Haro, which would become a Gundam mascot. Initially, when Amuro pilots the Gundam, he is barely able to fend off aces such as his main rival Char Aznable and Ramba Ral, mostly relying on the sheer incredible power of the Gundam. However, over time, Amuro manages to hone his skills to the point where a mobile suit he pilots needed a field upgrade and tuned to even able to match up to Amuro's immense piloting skill. On board the first mobile suit he piloted, the RX-78-2 Gundam, he is able to use and fight with it by just looking in the piloting manual for the first time, and destroyed two Zakus at the same time. Amuro is adept at any combat situation he is in, whether in close-combat, middle-range, or even long range encounters at multiple enemies, he is able to fight them in his way without any prior training that makes him earn the title "White Devil". Also, in UC 87(Timeline in Zeta), his skill never fades, in fact, leading the Karaba (AEUG's earth-bound ally) at successful missions. At UC 93, Amuro is at the peak of his piloting skill, using an inferior mobile suit, the RGZ-91 Re-GZ, and critically damaging Gyunei Guss' MSN-03 Jagd Doga, which was more advanced that time, and is noted that the Re-GZ is not suited for Amuro's expectations until Anaheim Electronics soon delivers to him the RX-93 Nu Gundam, which is designed by Amuro himself for the use of his Newtype powers, Thus, utilizing his full piloting potential. His requirement should be Earth Federation Forces. Be Should gain Preplex from his Special Ability and Super Sense from his Mecha Ability if he is in the RX-78-2 Gundam. He should have the Earth Federation Forces team ability and gains the Newtype keyword. The next Gundam UC idea should be Type-61 Tank.
Next is a Tank from Code Geass. Tanks and Armoured Personal Carriers were still in use during Code Geass, but not as commonly as Knightmare frames and saw almost no action during the second series due to the new flight systems being use by the Knightmare frames. They should have a trait called "Manned Vehicle", Running Shot, Range Combat Expert, Toughness and be on a double base.
Manned Vehicle: Tank can have be equipped with a Pilot card, but only non-unique ones unless the unique pilot's requirements states otherwise.
They should have about three clicks of health and their starting combat values should be Speed 6, Attack 9, Defence 15, Damage 1 and Range 8 with one target. They should not have a team ability and its keywords should be Britannia, Black Knights, Euro Universe, Chinese Federation and Japan. The next Code Geass idea should be a pilot card for Suzaku Kururugi. There will be tanks in the Gundam sets, but apart form the special ones like the Type-61 and the Magella Attack Tank, these will be bystander tokens due to the size difference.
Next is Colonel Silver from Dragon Ball. Colonel Silver had a fairly small role in the Dragon Ball manga, but he had a considerably larger role in the anime. This is because the Red Ribbon Army was introduced a little earlier in the anime and Toei Animation created several filler episodes involving Colonel Silver and Emperor Pilaf before the next chapter of the Dragon Ball manga was released so the animators could continue on with the story without going past the manga. The anime, much like they did with Colonel Violet, gave Colonel Silver a lot more characterization and a larger role in the story. As evident in both the anime and the manga on multiple occasions, unlike most officers, he does not immediately turn to violence and threats in order to get information, but rather simply asks a couple questions and only resorts to physical means if he is not getting the requested answers. One strange fact to note about his character is that his personality warps with each dub, despite no one making any alterations to the animation whatsoever. In the Japanese dub, Colonel Silver is portrayed as being quiet and serious. In the FUNimation dub, he changes to being cold, aggressive, courteous to superiors and occasionally complimentary towards random citizens. In the French dub he is assertive, in the Castilian dub he is foul-tempered, whereas, in a contradiction to all, the Portuguese dub portrays him as rarely raising his voice, and he seems understanding and patient. He should have Hypersonic, Super Senses and Range Combat Expert. He should have about five clicks of health and his starting combat values should be Speed 8, Attack 9, Defence 16, Damage 3 and Range 8 with one target. His team ability should be the Red Ribbon Army one and his keywords should be Red Ribbon Army and Soldier. The next Dragon Ball idea should be Full Metal Jacket.
Next is Sōken Ishida from Bleach. Sōken Ishida, was the father of Ryūken Ishida and the grandfather of Uryū Ishida. Sōken trained Uryū and Ryūken in Quincy abilities. Sōken taught Uryū throughout his childhood, becoming his mentor in the process. Sōken tried to make amends with the Soul Readers by advocating a new system of response to Hollow attacks: Quincy would be the first-response squad, protecting Humans from Hollows until the Soul Readers arrived to dispatch the Hollow, thus maintaining the spiritual balance between the worlds that was being destroyed by the Quincy. However, his proposal was never accepted, despite several attempts. At some point Sōken gave Uryū the Sanrei Glove. He was killed in battle when a group of giant Hollows attacked him, as the Soul Readers arrived too late to save his life. During the rescue of Rukia Kuchiki, Mayuri Kurotsuchi reveals to Uryū that this was his doing; he delayed the Soul Reaper meant to protect Sōken so that he could study Sōken's soul for his research. According to a reflection of a photograph seen in Uryū's glasses, all that was left of him in the end was his head. He should have Range Combat Expert, Willpower and "Quincy Mentor".
Quincy Mentor: Sōken Ishida can use Perplex. When he uses it on a friendly character with the Quincy keyword or an opposing character with the Hollow keyword, he modifies them by +/-2 instead of +/-1.
He should have about five or six clicks of health and his starting combat values should be Speed 7, Attack 10, Defence 16, Damage 2 and Range 8 with one target. He should not have a team ability and his keywords should be Past and Quincy. The next Bleach idea should be Ikkaku Madarame.
Lastly is the DreamClix Dial Designs page update news. On Sunday there was an update to the DreamClix Dial Designs page, which finished up I the Bleach section for this round of updates. There were two new dials in this update shown below. There should be an update on Sunday that will start the Bubblegum Crisis updates.
Well that is it for this week. Until next time, Mecha Up.
