Welcome to “Gaming with Neoscream”, the all new
weekly gaming post that replace’s the “MK HeroClix”, the “Model Painting” and
the “7TV Listings” posts as well gaming news and events that use to be in my
“Neoscream’s Life” posts. This week’s post will be a whopper of a post as it is
covering almost two weeks worth of stuff. In fact before adding pictures it is
just about seven pages on the word processor. I have a feeling this is the
biggest post ever on this blog. Each section of the post will have its own
introduced for the first two or three weeks.
Gaming News
This is where the weekly gaming news for the games I
that I follow and play will be posted. This will not include the news that was
release on the day I posted this post (unless it is really big or cannot wait
until next week).
First off is the Mantic news. Pre-orders for Loka
are now up on their store with sometime in November as the release date, but
according to Wayland Games it is out on the 29th of October. However on
Thursday there was a post on KickStarter saying that that they are aiming for a
November release for KickStarters and is should be out on general release after
that. Also pre-orders for Season One and Two team expansion packs were added to
their store with a 7th of November release date. Each expansion pack comes with
six players that are new sculpts, two prone figures and a keeper if they have
one. Still no word on when the KickStarter stuff will be shipped for ether
DreadBall, Loka or Deadzone. Mantic has been promoting their new game that is
coming to KickStarter, Mars Attacks. The scenery uses the same system as
Deadzone zone but will be red brick buildings. They will be able to be combined
with the Deadzone scenery. Also by the sound of things the game play will be
the same as Deadzone. I plan on picking up some of the scenery and maybe some
of the human stuff for 7TV and 7ombieTV. On Monday there was news on
KickStarter that they will be starting assembling and shipping the final
shipment of DreadBall in the next few days. So they should hopefully have
started by the time this post comes out. It normally takes them about two weeks
to assemble and ship the stuff and several days to a week to arrive. So I will
dealt that mine will arrive for the Tournament next weekend. Oh and gain stores
will get the stuff before the KickStarters. Jake Thornton has been busy working
planned the future of DreadBall and working on Deadzone. You can check out his
blog, there is a link on the “Blogs I Follow” section on the right hand side of
the blog.
The new Future Freedom Fighters |
Next is the Zombicide news. The KickStarters of
Season Two have received their first shipment last week or the week before.
Also there is a new mission on their website where the survivors have to get a
ton of C4, place them and then detonate them.
Now for the Privateer Press news. Images of next
month’s Mercenary Rhulic Colossal, the Ghordson Earthbreaker, are up now and the
survey for the Warmachine Tactics KickStarter were sent to backers at the
beginning of last week. They have until the 30th of September to be filled in.
I filled mine in last week. Also the game is looking great so far.
Next is the Crooked Dice Games news. Greens of two
more Future Freedom Fighters were reviled. Billie from Grandville and a PDF version of
the new add-on for 7th Voyage, Myths and Monsters, are now in their
store. Next week should see the release of the Robo-Minions and the two new
Future Freedom Fighters members.
Now for the Mekton news. The delay on news for this
was due to problem on page layout. The problems are now fix (or at least
mostly) and they have started posting preview pages from the rulebook, however
the artwork is in them are just place holders until the real things are
finished.
Next is the HeroClix news. This week there was
previews of U.S.S. Hathway from Star Trek Tactics III; Skeleton Skullwalker and
Shyft Ravager from Mage Knight Resurrection; Breaker The Magical Warrior,
Hitotsu-Me Giant and rule for Traps and Spells from the Yu-Gi-Oh Series One
starter set; Iron Monger and Mandarin from Marvel The Invincible Iron Man; and
Batman, Deathstroke and Deadshot from DC Batman Arkham Origins. DC Batman
Classic TV is out now and as you can see above next month will see the release
of another DC set Batman Arkham Origin. I think I have brought this up once,
but I would like to bring this up. I am a fan of Batman, but this is going over
the top. DC sets we had since late 2012 were Batman, Batman: Streets of Gotham,
Batman: No Man’s Land, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Man of Steel, Teen
Titans, Batman: The Classic TV show, a Batman board that had HeroClix dials
(sorry I cannot remember the name) and now Batman: Arkham Origins. Only two
sets not based around Batman, and one of them still had him in it (Teen
Titans). I hate to say it but Wizkidz, DC, there are more DC heroes other than
Batman. Give him a break and focus on the others.
Now for the Kingdom Death news. Something I never
said the other week was that they sell resin figures of characters and monsters
from their game world (but with no rules for the game). Most of these are
limited run only (at a glance I would say between 150 and 250) and they are
known to sell out in a space of a day. Currently most things are out of stock including
their non limited stuff. One of their partners, a Japanese company called
"Full Metal Planet" do have stock of a lot of their stuff and with
postage and packaging it is roughly the same cost as it is from Kingdom Death.
On Friday last week I decided to order two of them: Beyond the Wall and Pinup
Savior Morgan. I would like to get Female Survivor (cannot find a name for
her), 20 year old Savior and Survivor Snow, but they were all out of stock and
I would not have ordered that much. Oh and there is a monster I would like to
great, the Lion Knight, but as there will be an expansion pack with him in it.
So I will wait to get that.
Next is the Robotech news. On Thursday (yesterday)
there was a LONG awaited update on KickStarter. They have been very busy
getting things ready for the December shipment date. The rulebook is in final
layout stages. The Jotun Armored Valkyrie sculpt is done. There is just a
couple of sculpts left to finalize, namely a minor change to the Super Valkyrie
and a few modifications to the YF-4 Guardian and Battloid modes. Game stat
cards are being finalized now and the product packaging is also in the works.
People who have read this week’s Neoscream’s Life
post will know that there were some problems with Hasselfree Miniatures Sculpting
Competition 2012. On Thursday (yesterday) evening I received an email saying
that they will finally post polls sometime today (27th of
September). I will post links to these polls on Saturday and hopefully chat a
bit about them. The polls will be up for ten days and people can vote for three
figures for each of the three categories: Modern, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. Let us
see how well Kallen, Eve and Shen will do.
Past Events
This is where I will be talking about the gaming events I have been to
since the last post. Place note friendly games with mate will most likely talk
about in the “Neoscream’s Life” posts than here unless they happen at places like Wargames Workshop MK.
Monday last week I was at the finals of the
Warmachine/Hordes Journeyman’s League at Wargames Workshop MK. Due to the
longer time matches and prize giving, we only had one game. But before the
first game we cashed in the last of the painting points for the league. I
gained eight more points, but two others cashed in a ton more points on the
day. I was up against Kieran Sherry. He was using a Retribution force. Sadly I
lost very quickly. After a long wait for everybody to finish, the awards were
given out. The first award was the Journeyman Award. This was given out to the
player that gathered the most Journeyman points during the League. Journeyman
points are the total Gaming and Hobby points a player had earned. I won this by
two points. While before the finals I was a head by at least nine points. At
second was Joseph Mead and at third was Kieran Sherry. The next award was the
Creator award. This was based on Hobby points and Hobby points are earned by
painting figures. I originally thought that you could only earn these points
from painting figures from the Faction you are playing, but I learnt on the day
that you could earn points from painting figures from other Factions. I sadly
lost out on three or more points from a group of three Exemplar Cinerators,
however ever I still won this award without them. At second was Joseph Mead and
at third was Kieran Sherry (Hang on that is the same as Journeyman). The final
award was for the Destroyer Award and I... did not win that one. There was a
four way tie between Kieran Sherry, Dave Bartley, Barnaby O'Callaghan and Niall
Sherry. The tie breaker was Hobby points which Kieran Sherry won, meaning he
won the award, second was Dave Bartley and third was Barnaby O'Callaghan. The
league was great fun and if it was not for work and DreadBall I would do the
Tournaments. One Saturday off every other month is fine, but one Saturday off a
month while Saturdays are the busiest day in the week is pushing it.
On Friday last week I went to Wargames Workshop MK
to play some Zombicide Season Two. Bob, one of the guys I play DreadBall with
was a backer of both the Season One and Season Two KickStarters of Zombicide.
As he got his first shipment if Season Two stuff the previous weekend, he
decided to run a game of Season Two. Sadly he only brought Prison Outbreak so
only six people could play. I knew I should have brought my copy of Season One.
Luckily I managed to get in as well as Adrian and Michael who I know from
HeroClix. We play Mission 02 and I was playing Grindlock (I wonder if the name
is a play on Grimlock) who was chosen at random. On the first turn an
Abomination and two Fatties came into play. We know that we were doomed from
then, but we continued on. We lasted a hell of a lot longer than we expected
and collected all but one of the objectives. Virally all the Zombies from the
box set were on the map and about 90% were in one room. We might not have won
the Mission, but we did have fun which is what Zombicide is all about.
On Monday this week I was at the Warmachine High
Command demo at Wargames Workshop MK. Due to numbers and the fact that we
forgot to open the store's copy, we only had enough for four players with the
demo. So I had to skip the demo game. But after it we cracked open the stores
copy and we all got two full games in. In both games I was using Protectorate
of Menoth. The game was fun to play and very interesting. I might pick it up at
a later date, maybe when the expansion The Big Guns is out.

not play 40k anymore.
Painting and Converting
This section replaces the old Model Painting post.
On the last Model Painting post I said I would be doing two Fire Warriors, a
Crisis Suit, a zombie runner and the survivors Doug and Josh. However my Tau
stuff that was not in my miniatures case for 7TV has disappeared on me. So the
300 rating version of my Tau Invasion Force team will be on pause until I can
hunt for them. Instead of the Fire Warriors and Crisis Suit I will be doing
Rose Tyler, Clara Oswald and an Exemplar Cinerator.
This week's models from the front |
This week's models from the rear. |
The Exemplar Cinerator Unit Leader |
This week's Zombicied |
All six box set Season One Survivors |
Next week I should be doing the Secret Project, two
Exemplar Cinerators and a seventh Robot Guard. OK I did get the Secret Project
well in time for this post but as I already took the photos I decided to leave
in until next week.
Armies
This is where re-listing for 7TV teams, new 7TV team
lists and force/team listings of teams I used (and maybe opponents too if I
can) during events.
This week's 7TV re-listing will be my Bot-X team.
With this team I decided (as my teams do not fit the 70's) to roughly based my
stuff 40 to 50 years after the 7TV stuff. The good guys won, the villains have
ever gone into hiding or disbanded, but now new threats have appeared. A
Department X scientist called Doctor Gear Headson was working on old Argonaut
technology. He wanted to try to build something to help the world. His son,
Xavin Headson, was an agent for Department X, but had been reported as dyeing
in action. Then one day when Gear’s daughter, Sparks, was visiting, the base
they worked at was attack from a group known as the “Children of Argo”. Gear
activated his life’s work, Bot-X to save his daughter and as meanly staff it
could, while he distracted the attack. Gear sacrificed his own life, protecting
Sparks and Bot-X as well as taking down the Children of Argo for good. The
attack hit Department X pretty hard. They were unable to protect Sparks and
Bot-X, so another British government organisation took Sparks and Bot-X in for
the time being (currently un-named). Box-X was sent on dangerous missions whom
no human could do and Sparks became Bot-X’s engineer as she was the only person
alive that could understand her father’s work. The head of the organisation
placed his son Max with them to keep a watchful eye on them as he is the same
age as Sparks. There is more to the story, but the 100 rating team reflexes the
team at this stage. More characters (and grunts) are planned, and they might
return to Department X later.
I might change the figure of Max for the 200 rating team. Oh, the remains of Children of Argo, have formed two
groups. The CWC and the forces of Doctor Goodman. Next week I will be doing the
re-listing of my Attack of the Killer Tomatoes team.
The force I used in my final game of Warmachine in
the Journeyman League was:
Axis, The Harmonic Enforcer -6 (to Warjacks)
Cipher Heavy Vector 9
Cipher Heavy Vector 9
Inverter Heavy Vector 8
Mitigator Light Vector 4
Mitigator Light Vector 4
Galvanizer Light Vector 3
Galvanizer Light Vector 3
=34 points
I thought of trying out Axis, but it did not work
out for me.
Homemade Rules
Here I will be posting homemade rules or house rule.
I will TRY to post at least one rule in each post. This week I explain two
homemade Special Effects for 7TV that I have used. I have explained one in the
past but I have decided to re-post it with better wording.
Outside Training (Trait) – A Star or Co-Star with
this Special Effect may choose to spend up to one of their special effect point
on any special effect they do not have access to.
Advance Weapon Training (Knowledge OR if you can
gain Military Training or have it already) - Models with Advance Weapon
Training can elect to replace any of their Basic attacks with Advance attacks.
I plan on setting up a page to re-post these rules
soon so I do not need to worry about re-posting them each time I use them.
Until next time, Armour Up.
