Heroclix 2nd September, The Great Rookie Bash

This week wias a 300 points, rookies only, no figure over 99 points. I looked for a keyword that I had never used but what I kept on finding that most keywords apart from major ones like Avengers, teen and Justice League of America, did not have enough figures for a 300 point team. So I ended up going for a Avengers team.

Iron Man (Armour Wars) 89
Ronin (Avengers) 55
Black Knight (Fantastic Forces) 54
Ant-Man (Super Nova) 48
Scarlet Witch (Avengers) 35
Quicksilver (Infinity Challenge) 18
=299 points and three re-rolls.

The others went for:
My Team

Non Themed Team (yes this is a judge’s team)
Pyreus Kril (Avengers) 96
Tyros Lanlak (Avengers) 86
Lambda-Zero (Avengers) 75
Jean Grey (Infinity Challenge/Universe) 31
=288 points and no re-rolls.

Marvel Teens Team
Thor Girl (Secret Invasion) 81
Hulkling (Avengers) 72
Spider-Man (Hammer of Thor) 59
Patriot (Avengers) 38
X-23 (Mutations and Monsters) 35
=285 points and two re-rolls.

DC Teens Team

DC Teens Team
Klarion (Crisis) 76
Element Lad (Arkham Asylum) 70
Batman (Arkham Asylum) 64
Speedy (Crisis) 45
Kid Flash (Crisis) 45
=300 points and two re-rolls.

My first game was ageist the non themed. First off I like to explain something before saying what happen. Darren, the judge place two dice (D6s) on each table. So that both players are using the same dice. The game at the time was going ok for Darren. The only real damage I had done was to Pyreus Kril (Firelord), but that knocked him onto his Hypersonic. While Iron Man was half dead and Ronin had taken a heavy pounding. Ronin went for a Blades attack on Tyros Lanlak (Terrax the Tamer), I rolled to attack and missed. So I Probability Controlled to and ended up missing. Has I know I really needed to hit with this attack, I used a theme team re-roll and gained a critical hit. Then I rolled for Blades and scored a 6, meaning 7 clicks of damage on Tyros Lanlak. This was followed by two more critical hits from me and two critical misses from Darren’s Pyreus Kril that coursed him to lose Hypersonic. Darren had lost half of his team and the other half was almost dead as well. As the dice was ageist him, he saw no point of continuing and gave up, meaning I won that one. The next game was ageist the DC teens team. This was nasty. Even with all my re-rolls I could not hit him and that Kid Flash was a nightmare too, until Ant-Man boxed him in and Outwitted his Movement Special. Sadly I lost the game. Only taking out Element Lad. The last game was ageist the Marvel teens team. I was first trying to take out Thor girl first but too many figures got in the way so X-23 became the target and first victim. Then both Patriot and Thor Girl fell next follow by Hulkling and finally Spider-Man. My team remain mostly healthy, all I lost was poor Ronin. With the two wins I got second place, but for once Darren was not first but third. Looks like the old judge exclusive figures are not all that great compared to their Cosmic versions.
Marvel Teens Team

Next week will be a strait forward 300 points game. Nothing special.

There is no real news this week, however I would like to point out that the Web of Spider-Man booster set is release on the 8th of this month. However most UK online retailers will not have it until the end of the month due to importing.

This week's DreamClix are Surge from New X-Men and both Great Ape and Flying Nimbus. But first I would like to talk about some changes to the Shounen Jump Heroclix TA's. First Morbane of the Cosplay Deviant forums serjusted that Knights of the Zodiac's TA should be like Justice League, so I will give them that. Second I am dumping the Death Note TA and take a page out of Marvel Clix book by import both the PD and Mystic TAs into the set for Death Note. Also I am now adding desripions of the characters I am doing. I will try to do the ones I have done already at a later date.

New X-Men Surge
First of its Surge. Surge (Noriko "Nori" Ashida) is a mutant in the Marvel Universe, one of the student body in the Xavier Institute and she is the leader of the New X-Men. She first appeared in New Mutants (vol. 2) #8 (January 2004). Surge absorbs electricity at all times: from static in the air, electrical appliances, outlets, etc. (often causing lights to flicker, etc.). She can't control the absorption, and thus must wear specifically-designed gauntlets at all times to regulate it. She can discharge the energy through powerful lightning-like blasts or channel it into bursts of superhuman speed. If she takes in too much energy, it causes mental over loads which cause her to speak too fast, scatters her thinking, and worsens her control over the blasts. Surge should have Hypersonic, Running Shot, Incapacitate, Pulse Wave, Energy Shield Deflection and Range Combat Expert. Her starting states should be (base on the Young Avengers states) movement 12, attack 9, defence 16 and damage 2 or 3. With range 6 or 8 with one or two targets. Maybe 6 clicks of life. She should have the X-Men TA and Keywords Teen, New X-Men, New Mutants, mutant (if that keyword is still being used) and Hellions (reading wiki as I have not read comics for a year and a half).

Next we have the character I stated that I would do last week Great Ape. The Great Ape (or Oozaru as it is sometimes called) is a giant, monkey-like creature that Saiyans can transform into to increase their enormous strength if they look at a full moon (normally). Only Elite Saiyans can remain in control of themselves while in Great Ape form. Please note that this will be the uncontrolled version. Now let me start with stating that the orange line for AE is on the starting click as this is not a figure you will want on your side of the field. It should have the Trait Berzerker and the Special Ability Fire Breath for a click or two.
Great Ape
"Berzerker: At the beginning of a turn which Great Ape has less than two counters on it, roll a D6. On a roll of 1 or 2 he gains Charge and will attack the nearest character friend or foe. If there this several characters at the same distance then randomised which character he well attack. If there is no characters within attack range he may take an action normally. Also characters treat him as an opposing figure even if they are on his team."
"Fire Breath: Great Ape can make a range attack as if he has a range of 8."
He should be a giant maybe with Indomitable, with the powers Leap Climb, Super Strength, maybe Quake, maybe Invulnerability, Toughness and maybe Close Combat Expert. Something like 5 clicks with starting states of movement 8, attack 10, defence18 and damage 4 or 5. Range value of 0, no AT with Keywords of Saiyan and Monster.

Lastly it the Flying Nimbus, the missing thing from last week. The Flying Nimbus is a yellow magical cloud that serves as a vehicle. Goku obtains the Nimbus from Master Roshi in the third episode of Dragon Ball, as a consolation for saving Turtle. It served Goku and his sons well throughout Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, by acting as a way for them to fly around at high speeds without using up any energy. Nimbus should have a trait called Pure-Heart User.
"Pure-Heart User: Flying Nimbus can only carry characters with the Kid Keyword or has the Pure-Heart trait. If Nimbus is carrying, it gains the transporter ability and its damage and range values are replaced by the values of the character it is carrying."
No other powers. It should be a flyer with 3 clicks of health. States of around movement 14, attack 9, defence 18, damage 0 and range 0. It should also have the Dragon Ball TA and the Keywords Dragon Ball Gang, Vehicle and maybe Z Fighters.

Well this is it for this week. Next week's DreamClix should be based on Bleach with another New X-Men character too. Well until next time, enjoy.
